Re: [gentoo-user] xfree problem
lspci can tell what card, and knoppix can create a good config as said, but if you dont want to download knoppix X --configure does a nice job too, then you just need to type your own resolution, and without vertrefresh and horizsync in the x config it will run nice too, and then you can use the X tool xvidtune you can find the info you want to finish your X config :-) On Tue, 2003-10-21 at 12:28, [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > I am configuring Xfree > > I have a HP omnibook XE3L PIII 700, and I don't know vertical and > horitzontal refresh to configure the monitor, does someone know this? > what's the video card?? > > Thanks!! > > -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list -- Regards, Redeeman () ascii ribbon campaign - against html e-mail /\- against microsoft attachments -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list
Re: [gentoo-user] xfree problem
my suggestion is to download the knoppix CD, burn the iso and boot from it, it creates a very good XFconfig file (just make sure to boot with lang=us for a us keyboard) just copy the config file to your hard disk or on the network somewhere and the reboot into gentoo. Re: [gentoo-user] xfree problem
On my laptop, I just ran XFree86 -configure as root. It places as config file in /root which you can copy over to /etc/X11. This worked for me without the need to enter the correct refresh rates. eric heller [EMAIL PROTECTED] On Tue, 2003-10-21 at 10:28, [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > I am configuring Xfree > > I have a HP omnibook XE3L PIII 700, and I don't know vertical and > horitzontal refresh to configure the monitor, does someone know this? > what's the video card?? > > Thanks!! > > -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list

I've even found XF86Configs for a lot of models. -- Regards, Ernie 100% Microsoft and Intel free -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list
