The reason we even have DST changes with everyone I ask. I have no a problem with DST at all. The problem is how these guys have voted a law in both cameras of the congress in just a few hours, for a change that will be effective in two days (ok, three days), not taking into account the time it will take for us to update our servers and our client boxes. I don't feel bad... I'm just a little little little fed up of all this stupidity. Just unpack /usr/portage/distfiles/tzdata2007j.tar.gz and read Argentina or Buenos Aires. I'll give you a little quote: # From Mariano Absatz (2004-06-14): # ... this weekend, the Province of Tucuman decided it'd go back to UTC-03:00 # yesterday midnight (that is, at 24:00 Saturday 12th), since the people's -- # annoyance with the change is much higher than the power savings obtained :-/ Regards, Norberto This message was sent using IMP, the Internet Messaging Program. -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list

There's a reason that zoneinfo's rule name is Arg. Anyway, the rule addition proposed is: RuleArg 2007only- Dec 30 0:001:00S RuleArg 2008max - Mar Sun=15 0:000 - RuleArg 2008max - Oct Sun=1 0:001:00S if you want to patch it yourself. If you think nobody will notice on Sunday, nobody will expect it to be right on Monday, and nobody will care on Tuesday, you should be able to get the official release by Wednesday. -Daniel *This .sig left intentionally blank* -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list
[gentoo-user] modifying timezone
Hello list, as one or two of you may already know, Argentina is going to implement daylight saving time from December 30th until march 16th. We're going from GMT-03 (now) to GMT-02 (dec-mar), and my question is: what do I need to do to correctly modify my timezone? Google doesn't help this time. I've got examples on how to set your time zone, i.e.: ln -s /usr/share/zoneinfo/ /etc/localtime But that's not what I'm looking for... (damn politicians and all their crazy ideas...) Re: [gentoo-user] modifying timezone
equery f sys-libs/timezone-data|grep bin zdump -v /etc/localtime gives what your system is currently doing zic allows you to create your own info. The pollies did that here in Western Australia as well - a couple of weeks notice. Within a day or so of the legislation passing, one of the local Universities made the files available. Within a couple of weeks, an official gentoo update with the changes came through. It was nice being able to sit back and laugh at the windows losers trying to cope (which they didnt do very well) BillK On Thu, 2007-12-27 at 00:10 -0300, Norberto Bensa wrote: Hello list, as one or two of you may already know, Argentina is going to implement daylight saving time from December 30th until march 16th.
