HP has sold (at least) 2 different architectures in their server lines.
What CPU does the system have, or if you don't know, what's the model

You will want the Live ISO image for a x86 install.

The HPPA won't run on x86, but it will run on he PA8000 cpu arch,
the same CPU as the HP Visualize C180 I have sitting here.

The Intel 3.0G Dual Core? Hmmm, that would be the 3.0G -D
processor, as I don't know of any "Duo Core" hitting or exceeding 3GHz,
I have a E6600 Duo core, and it will run the x86-32 and x86-64 arch's

You will want the Live ISO image for a x86 install.

I have tried to install with "livecd-i686-installer-2006.1.iso".First
time,my machine can enter gnome, but in the way of the installing the
error occure(when installing grub):

BootloadError:FATAL:__map_device_to_grub_device:ERROR,
could not map /dev/cciss/c0d0 to anything in the device map

Then I couldn't enter the livecd anymore.Everytime I boot from the
livecd,my machine would stop at :
coldpluging pci devices

even after I switched another CD-ROM.

Now ,what should I do? Burn another liveCD?Or.

You may install Gentoo from any live CD. I installed mine from Knoppix,
but it looks like any live CD will do.

I also do not see how Windows 2003 or whatever being installed can prevent
your system from booting a CD. Much more likely, it is a hardware or BIOS
(not likely, but still a better guess than Windows). You may try to remove
all PCI devices except the video card and try to boot the CD again.

You have some kind of pci device that is not playing nicely with the
LiveCD. Perhaps a kernel module is starting with the wrong parameters,
or there is a bug, or whatever.

Remove all pci devices except ones you need and try various sensible
combinations in a sensible order to narrow down the device that is
problematic.

When the CD first boots, there is a splash screen where you can select
which kernel to use and various options. If I remember correctly it's
on the F2 key. Have a look there at stuff that can be disabled - acpi
is a common culprit so try that first

Try disabling autodetection (one of parameters, see help before it
boots).

Yes, you can get an amulator and run virtual machine, even under
Windows. However, I guess you do not really want to compile it all in
emulated machine…
