Re: [Geoserver-devel] GSIP-167 Log4j Update

2022-02-15 Thread Jody Garnett
Just to confirm the proposal has been accepted and I have availability to
work on this next week. The release candidate may be delayed, but it will
be great to have this done!

Thanks to everyone for the votes, financial support, and many encouraging
emails sent.

Jody

   2.21-RC
   -

Andrea: Check with geonode developers about disabling 2.18.x / 2.18.x
   nightly builds

Site outage / Domain Transfer

Thanks everyone for helping with the outage.

… and we are back!

   -

osgeo directory (treasure) verified domain will be accepted by osgeo
   -

regina is waiting for transfer, and has been introduced to planet
   personal
   -

unclear if planet is just focused on geosever.org, or also
   geowebcache.org and others…

website contents:

   -

osgeo website is ready, just needs to be populated
   -

alexandre volunteered if can be given access to jenkins, waiting on
email to geosever-devel with jenkins login name

Log4j upgrade proposal

GSIP-167 quote expired last friday, Feb 11th. Goal was to start work in
time for 2.21-RC.

initial: 75% of funds raised to a maximum of €5000 Feb 11, to allow time to
complete upgrade for 2.21-RC

updated: 75% of funds raised to a maximum of €5000 Feb 18, may delay 2.21-RC

As above

   -

Updated with Feb 18th, but this will delay 2.21-RC :)

Upcoming release schedule

See https://github.com/geoserver/geoserver/wiki/Release-Schedule

   -

Feb 18th: 2.19.5 final maintenance release?
   -

Please disable 2.19.x jobs when done? No we should keep it going for
  6 months …
  -

   March 4th: 2.21-RC - delayed due to log4j upgrade
   -

Note this will disable 2.19.x jobs
  -

However 2.18.x is still active to support geonode developers? Is it
time to disable 2.18.x nightly builds …
  -

   March 18th: 2.21.0

Who has availability?

   -

action: ask email list on release manager availability
   -

action: Check with geonode developers about disabling 2.18.x / 2.18.x
   nightly builds

Review feedback on active community modules

Feedback from geoserver-devel – what to cull…

Andrea checked internally about the community modules we had some relation
with:

   -

gwc-distributed: still alive? > Can be eliminated.

   -

rest-upload: ask in GeoSolutions > Same here, can go

   -

wms-eo: still active? check in GeoSolutions > Still seeing a bit of usage,
to be revisited next time we look at community modules cleanup

Would really like to see supported extensions with active tests:

   -

app-schema: build server online tests disabled, run locally for geoserver
   -

jdbc-hana: contact for a github action or something …

what is wrong with app-schema:

[ERROR]
testSameNameDiffNamespace1(org.geoserver.test.PropertySelectionTest) Time
elapsed: 0.23 s <<< ERROR!

java.lang.RuntimeException: java.lang.NullPointerException

at
org.geoserver.test.PropertySelectionTest.createTestData(PropertySelectionTest.java:23)

org.geoserver.test.PropertySelectionTest.createTestData(PropertySelectionTest.java:19)

Discussion:

   -

   working locally for developers
   -

oracle is broken, requires some scripts that are not available in recent
   oracle
   -

may be able to check is functionality is available (say on an older
  version)
  -

mongodb test was working by luck, json order dependent
   -

consider moving to github actions, and not lean so much on jenkins
