You mean, any sql query, interactively? That's not possible, it would be a
wide open door to a SQL injection attack.
An administrator can configure a parametric query as a source for a new
layer though, being very careful about
parameter validation to avoid attacks:

[Geoserver-users] Reg Geoserver Spatial Query Extensions

2011-09-12 Thread Harshad S
Hello all,

I am new to Geoserver. I require spatial queries(to PostGIS)  to be run from the Geoserver web interface itself.  Does it have an extension for doing this or it's inbuilt into Geoserver. I am using the Geoserver version 2.1- Snapshot.

[Geoserver-users] Anyone up for a static map discussion at FOSS4G?

2011-09-12 Thread Chris Krahe
I originally posted this
conversation
 (http://is.gd/b180PH) early last year:

"I'm looking to provide a REST service like the Google Static Maps API or
the OSM static map api . It will run on a customer intranet and has, as its
data sources, a Google Earth Enterprise 2D tile server and a few
TileCache-backed WMS endpoints. Unlike other environments, it does not have
access to the raw data used to create these map layers."

Is anyone up for a discussion and/or hacking this week at FOSS4G? I haven't
touched the topic since I posted, so it's about time I did.

[Geoserver-users] http authentication of secured WMS layer

2011-09-12 Thread Bram van Rooij
Hi,

I have a simple question (at least, I think it is). I have a geoserver
set up, and I want to secure some layers using http authentication.

What I thought should work is:

var ol_wms = new OpenLayers.Layer.WMS( "WMS.Secured",
"
http://:@SERVER/geoserver/wms";, {LAYERS: 'SEC_LAYER'} );

But all I'm getting is an code="LayerNotDefined" Could not find

What am I'm doing wrong?? If anyone could help me out I'd be very
gratefull!

Thanks in advance, regards,

Bram

Re: [Geoserver-users] Is there a way to export WFS data as PDF?

2011-09-12 Thread Nhan Vo

Thanks for the quick reply!

What I have in mind is the type of data that should look like when
we click on the OpenLayers preview map and retrieve a table of data
below similar to the database table.

I guess I might have to parse the XML response, extract the data and
generate the pdf myself then.

Any tip about how to do this more efficiently is much appreciated!

Regards,

Nhan

Nope, it's not possible.
Wondering, what kind of output would that be? WFS is meant to retun vector
data, unstyled, in its raw form, geometry and attributes.

If you want a PDF WMS can render it using the SLD style sheet though

Cheers
