Re: [Geoserver-users] OSM-style SLD files for GeoServer

2012-11-14 Thread Paul Meems
I managed to get the OSM-lines in GeoServer using the FlorentDotMe SLD
files.
I'm now working on the multilines, polygons and point.
When I'm done I'll report my steps here.

Thanks for all your help.

Re: [Geoserver-users] Can't log in as admin using j2ee Auth Filter

2012-11-14 Thread Fyodor Kravchenko
Hi Christian,

thanks, we'll wait! By the way - we'd need not only administrative roles
to be passed to Geoserver but all other roles we define in JEE environment.

(Actually, user roles will be provided by JOSSO's (single sign on lib)
agent valve, incorporated into Tomcat, but it'll be the next step)

 Hi Fyodor

There is something missing in the tutorial. I already corrected the
tutorial but have to wait for a review.

You have to add the role(s) you added to the tomcat environment to
 the Geoserver environment too.

The tutorial misses the step adding the role "tomcat" to the
 default Geoserver role service.

But there is a predefined Geoserver role called ADMIN. Try to use
 "ADMIN" as your role name.

 Cheers
 Christian

Re: [Geoserver-users] Python extension

2012-11-14 Thread Justin Deoliveira
Hey Thomas,

To be clear, the new extension is not a drop in replacement for the old
one, meaning the api for hooks has changed. The new api is described here:

http://docs.geoserver.org/latest/en/user/community/scripting/py/index.html#wps

Check that out, and if it still doesn't work feel free to include your
script (or a simplified version of it) and i can try it out.

Re: [Geoserver-users] Python extension

2012-11-14 Thread Thomas.Wanderer
Ok, thanks for this info! I just downloaded this extension as I was downloading
the old Python scripting from there. Now I'm wondering why my process don't
work anymore! Can you help me with pointing to where I can find more info on
how to use it?

Thanks,

Thomas

Hi Arthur,

Unfortunately the python community module has been superseded by a newer
language agnostic extension that is currently being developed on a separate
feature branch. The hope is to add it as a community module soon at which time
we will make builds avaialble for the current stable 2.2 branch.

So the old python etension is more or less maintained but still buildable from
sources on the 2.1.x branch.

If you want to follow the development you can find the branch here:

Re: [Geoserver-users] Geowebcache doesn't continue seeding

2012-11-14 Thread Paul Meems
I'm answering my own question because I've solved it.
It seems to be related the the JVM settings I've been struggling with.
As said before I'm a Windows user learning Ubuntu and sometimes simple
tasks are very complicated for me ;)

I had created the setenv.sh file in the wrong location, making Tomcat not
using it.
I know created the file in /usr/share/tomcat7/bin/

And the content is:

-server -Xms512m -Xmx1024m
-XX:NewSize=256m -XX:MaxNewSize=256m -XX:PermSize=256m
-XX:MaxPermSize=256m -XX:+DisableExplicitGC -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC
-XX:SoftRefLRUPolicyMSPerMB=36000
-XX:+UseParallelOldGC -XX:+UseParallelGC
-XX:NewRatio=2 -XX:+AggressiveOpt

After restarting Tomcat GWC is now continuing pre-seeding my files.

I'm still looking for some explanation about the used sizes in setenv.sh.
I have a 2GB server. What is the relation between for example -Xmx and the
available RAM?

Thanks,

Paul

this might be a reasonable argument - but if so, the geoserver
documentaiton page should be updated, as it contains samples where
number are provided as literals, and that is quite misleading (took me
about 2 hours of in-code debugging to find out what the real problem is,
and I already had the whole thing set up in eclipse for debugging
beforehand)

Re: [Geoserver-users] Python extension

2012-11-14 Thread Thomas.Wanderer
Hi Justin,

any updates on the status of this new extension? Is it already available as
community module or do we still need to wait a bit?

Thanks,
Thomas

Is the "newer language agnostic extension" you're speaking about the one you
recently also mentioned when I was asking about better WPS support in the
python extension? This would be great!

I realize it has been awhile since the last post on this thread, but I can't
find any more information about the Python extension since then. It still is
not available for download under "Extensions" in any of the most recent

extension. How can I get it for 2.1.4? Thanks.

Re: [Geoserver-users] [bulk]: Geowebcache Error

2012-11-14 Thread Stefan Engelhardt (HBT)
Hi Jay,
it would be really usefull if you would give us some more information.

How did you delete the layer? Just in the Filesystem? Via Rest? Via GUI? What
about log-entries in geoserver.log? Some more informations that could be
important? What does it mean "crashed"? Is the gui still working? Or is nothing
working at all?

As general as you asked the list I will answer your question also general: A
clear nes (no and yes merged). It depends of your answers.

Subject: [bulk]: [Geoserver-users] Geowebcache Error

List,

Running Geoserver 2.1. I accidentally deleted a layer which was also
being served via geowebcache. On restart this crashed geoserver and I can no
longe rlog in. Is it possible to remove the layer from an xml config file and
get geoserver booting again?

Thanks,
Jay
