Re: [Geoserver-users] hardware to serve maps

2013-11-20 Thread Alex Mandel
Depends on how many maps you plan to serve, how big they are and how
many people will be viewing them. Is this server going to be on the
internet or local?

I would usually say, i5 or better, 4GB ram or better is the minimum. If
trying to decide where to spend the money, more ram and faster disks
will get you better performance.

Thanks,
Alex

Re: [Geoserver-users] geoserver to geoserver

2013-11-20 Thread cmaul
Hi Julia,

yes you can cascade the geoservers. Publish the layer in the first Geoserver
and then cascade. In the second Geoserver you can define a WMS (which would
be your first Geoserver) as a datastore. At the bottom of the list of all
formats (file or database) for stores there is WMS. Please choose that.

Enter name of the datasource, a getCapabilities URL to the first Geoserver,
an username and password if needed and you are done.

Docu is here:
http://docs.geoserver.org/stable/en/user/data/cascaded/wms.html

Re: [Geoserver-users] Localhost - Geo Server - WFS layer - retrieve- filter

2013-11-20 Thread Phil Scadden
Its is best to keep discussion on the list - it means you get more
people looking at the problem, and answers help other people

1. I want to retrieve all other columns data like ( map_id, color,
object_type ) and update back when saved. How do I can doit. Please
suggest.

Just construct a filter object in OL. Updating back means using WFS-T

2.I have problem with saving Polygon, and LineString, but Point is
saved successfully. As soon I draw polygon on the vector layer, using
draw control, i am getting bellow error " a.geometry.getBounds is not
a function"? Should I use different vector layers for polygon, and
linestring?
Without example of code, it is hard to say. However, at the backend, few
databases like mixing geometry types in one layer so I would indeed use
different layer. However, this sounds more like client end than server
end so you might want to discuss this on openlayer list rather than
geoserver (assuming you are using Openlayers)

The "bit" larger files are typically about double the size of the
uncompressed one!

I know deflate isn't as well suited, but I'm experimenting with a whole
bunch of different settings to see what sticks.

I'm now trying to get the four band into GeoServer (regular GeoTIFF), but
it's not having it. I've created it the same way as the 3 band:

> gdal_merge -q -o rgbi.tif -of GTiff -co TILED=YES -co BIGTIFF=YES -co
> COMPRESS=JPEG -co JPEG_QUALITY=25 -co BLOCKXSIZE=512 -co BLOCKYSIZE=512
> --optfile tiff_list.txt

(low compression for testing). No pyramids yet.

The first thing I notice is that the 4 band is *smaller* (118MB) than the 3
band (164MB).

The gdalinfo for the four band:

Ideally I'm looking to have one source file which can be symbolised as not
just RGB, but also as any number of false-colour possibilities.

Any suggestions anyone? I'm stumbling into new (for me) territory here.

Ciao a tutti,
addign a bit to this, I would not use band interleaving as we have seen bad

YCbCr comes with a oversampling by a factor of 2 of the Cb and Cr channels,
hence the extra compression and quality loss. Although than this oversampling
is done because the human eye is less sensible to chromatic than luminance.

It is not completely surprising. If there are no repeateable patterns in the
uncompressed stream, deflate can result in (a bit) larger files. You might want
to try with -co INTERLEAVE=BAND added to see if it improves things. But
generally DEFLATE is not appropriate for aerial imagery.

Re: [Geoserver-users] GeoTIFFs verus JP2

2013-11-20 Thread Jonathan Moules
Hi List,
One thing I'm noticing with PHOTOMETRIC=YCBCR - I'm losing a lot of
sharpness.

In fact, a 50% without YCBCR looks better than a 85% that also has YCBCR
 enabled.

This is very noticeable at the native resolution, but once you're about
double it or further, it's effectively invisible.

On the other hand, the YCBCR is about 25% the size of
a equivalently compressed JPEG. I guess I'm going to have to choose which
way to go.

I've also been testing a lot of other variables and for some reason DEFLATE
compression seems to make the file *larger* in all circumstances. It
doesn't matter what the Z level is (even 9), or "predictor", in all
instances the resultant file is larger than an uncompressed version. That's
with four band data.
Anyone know why?

Cheers,
Jonathan

As far as I can see, if the feature is a complex one, a different template
is used, complex_content.ftl.

The default one seems to contain this:

<#--
Macro's used for content
-->

<#macro property node>
<#if !node.isGeometry>
   <#if node.isComplex>
<@feature node=node.rawValue type=node.type />
  <#else>
  ${node.value?string}

<#macro header typenode>
 ${typenode.name}

  fid
<#list typenode.attributes as attribute>
  <#if !attribute.isGeometry>
<#if attribute.prefix == "">
${attribute.name}
<#else>
${attribute.prefix}:${attribute.name}

<#macro feature node type>

  <@header typenode=type />

  ${node.fid}
  <#list node.attributes as attribute>
  <@property node=attribute />

<#--
Body section of the GetFeatureInfo template, it's provided with one feature
collection, and
will be called multiple times if there are various feature collections
-->

  <@header typenode=type />

<#assign odd = false>
<#list features as feature>
  <#if odd>

  <#else>

  <#assign odd = !odd>

  ${feature.fid}
  <#list feature.attributes as attribute>
<@property node=attribute />

Hope this helps

Cheers

If you run in postgis:

 select distinct(ST_SRID(geom)) from ;

Does it return only 4326?

When you published again your view in GeoServer did it recognize the Native SRS?

[Geoserver-users] App-Schema Custom GetFeatureInfo HTML

2013-11-20 Thread Ryan Moody
Hello,

Apologies for asking the same question twice, I was unsure if my
question below had reached the mailing list - if anyone could provide me
with any information regarding the query below, it would be really
appreciated :-)

Many thanks,

Subject: [Geoserver-users] App-Schema Custom GetFeatureInfo HTML

Hello,

Having successfully got my App-Schema based WMS to return a PNG image, I
now wish to override the GetFeatureInfo request to output custom HTML.
I've defined the following content.ftl template:

=== Begin content.ftl

<#list features as feature>

${feature.fid}

<#list feature.attributes as attribute>

<#if attribute.name != "the_geom">

${attribute.name} = ${attribute.value}

=== End content.ftl

This template gives me the bullet point list I expect to see for the
tutorial (non App-Schema) data layers when I invoke a GetFeatureInfo
request by clicking on the OpenLayers map, however, when I use the same
content.ftl for my App-Schema data layer, the default HTML (a table of
attributes instead of my custom bulleted list) is displayed.

Does App-Schema support the use of a custom content.ftl template? If so,
what modifications do I need to make to make to the template above in
order to display the bulleted list?

Best Regards,

Ryan

Dear all,
probably Andrea is right, I checked the srid, and I see two of them,4326 and
null.That is because 10 records have not the coordinates and then they have no

In the Native SRS filed it is showed 4326?

Do you get the error from the layer preview?

2013-11-20 Thread Eugenio Trumpy
Hi Andrea,
well first of all, everything is very strange, since that layers was running
for some monthsbefore my today check.Then the layer checked is actually a
postgis view, where the field 'the_geom' is included.In Qgis the layer is
loaded correctly with the right SRID '4326', moreover in the table view
'geometry_column'all the rows has 0 as value in srid field.
That probably is the reason why in the geoserver I haven's null values for the
layers coming fromthat postgis datastore.I just wonder how was able to
work?!?!?...
My solution could be to fill-in the field srid in geometry_column view
table,can be right?

Eugenio

[Geoserver-users] geoserver not doing url decoding in viewparams arguments to sql layers

2013-11-20 Thread Dave Potts
Hi List,

I am trying to send a polygon string via a viewparams to an sql defined
layer in geoserver,

As this is a web request I have to use a url encoding

http://127.0.0.1:8080/geoserver/pinkr/wfs?service=WFS&VERSION=1.0.0&SRSNAME=EPSG:28992&request=GetFeature&TYPENAME=pinkr:area_sq&outputFormat=GML2&viewparams=polygeom:POLYGON%28%28225262.349375%20632709.24,104409.8693754%20611635.320001,125483.7893746%20490782.840001,246336.2693742%20511856.76,225262.349375%20632709.24%29%29

ie spaces become %20, brackets become %28 and %29

Geosever gets this, according to the log file its processed as

  Could not find kvp parser for: 'polygeom'. Storing as raw string.
  Could not find kvp parser for: '104409.8693754 611635.320001'.
Storing as raw string.
  Could not find kvp parser for: '125483.7893746 490782.840001'.
Storing as raw string.
  Could not find kvp parser for: '246336.2693742 511856.76'. Storing
as raw string.
  Could not find kvp parser for: '225262.349375 632709.24))'. Storing as
raw string.
ie Geoserver has not apply a url decoder to the request, string, with
the result that the % character are take as argument seperaitors.

Q. Is there a way around this, geoserver is accepting a web request for
access to a wfs layer therefore it should be url encoded?

regards

Dave

[Geoserver-users] CSS Label Rotation - upside down labels

2013-11-20 Thread Balázs Eigner
Hi all,

I try to show rotated triangles, like this, using GeoServer 2.4.0 and a CSS
style:
[image: Szövegközi kép 1]

 I have two problems creating the correct CSS style:

   - how can I make the triangles rotate around the the tip (and not to
   overlap each other - they have the same coordinates in each group)
   - how can I make the labels rotated more than 180 degrees not to
   rendered upside down

For the label issue I tried to use the '-gt-label-force-ltr: false;' option
but had no effect. Currently I use the following rule:

[@scale < 20] {
   label: [CELL];
   font-fill: #33;
   font-family: Arial;
   font-size: 12;
   font-weight: bold;
   halo-color: #FF;
   halo-radius: 3px;
   halo-opacity: 0.75;
   label-anchor: 0 0.5;
   label-offset: 20 0;
   label-rotation: [DIR];
}

Thanks for any help in advance!

Best regards,
Balazs Eigner

You are correct!
It was a style assigned to a workspace. After I removed the style from the
workspace and left it unassigned, the seeding works.

Wondering if this might have anything to do with workspace specific styles?
Is the style workspace specific?

Re: [Geoserver-users] Adding JP2 raster layer to server

2013-11-20 Thread Daniele Romagnoli
Hi,
I have just did a quick look to your JP2 image but it seems to me that it's
not georectified.

>From Gdalinfo:
---
Coordinate System is `'
GCP Projection =
GCP[  0]: Id=1, Info=
  (761.28,367.12) -> (382710,6716808.7255129,0)
GCP[  1]: Id=2, Info=
  (3303.07,2594.78) -> (523280,6599954.5277307,0)

I would suggest a georectification step before serving it through
geoserver. (you may use gdal_warp to do that).
Once done, if you add a proper PRJ too, GeoServer should automatically
properly recognize CRS and envelope.

Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Daniele

Hi Ben,
Thanks for this information. I don't think I'll need the C# code; I'm
trying not to develop anything bespoke but instead use applications as they
stand.

[Geoserver-users] Adding JP2 raster layer to server

2013-11-20 Thread t.przysiwek
Hello,

i have jp2 files width maps, and for each of them 4 border points (lat,lon).
F.e:
52.700178,6.277880
52.662452,6.277880
52.662452,6.301401
52.700178,6.301401

When I'm adding it to GeoServer using GDAL extension (JP2ECW - JP2K (ECW)
Coverage Format)
and inserting coordinates to layer publishing settings as borders, map in
OpenLayers preview is flipped vertically, and preview in Google Earth via
KML displays view from attachment
ScreenShot379.png

Source jp2 file:  NL-AsnDA_0181_14a_2_001.jp2

Where i can find any instructions how to correctly import/prepare jp2 raster
layer?
What data sholud be in native borders - currently this are dimensions in
pixels?

Re: [Geoserver-users] Weblogic 10.3 / GeoServer 2.4.1

2013-11-20 Thread NORMAN MANN

I have made some further progress.
The issue below seems to have disappeared. I think there are issues around
starting/stopping weblogic, deploying the app, restarting etc.

The issue I had today was

Caused By: java.io.FileNotFoundException: security/config.xml (No such file or
directory)
    at java.io.FileInputStream.open(Native Method)
    at java.io.FileInputStream.(FileInputStream.java:120)
    at
org.geoserver.security.GeoServerSecurityManager.loadConfigFile(GeoServerSecurityManager.java:2494)
    at
org.geoserver.security.GeoServerSecurityManager.loadConfigFile(GeoServerSecurityManager.java:2508)
    at
org.geoserver.security.GeoServerSecurityManager.loadSecurityConfig(GeoServerSecurityManager.java:2478)
    Truncated. see log file for complete stacktrace

This seems to be GeoServer looking to migrate any existing security settings
that may exist for a previous version?
I haven't looked in the source code, but in the context of weblogic it seems to
be looking for a directory named security in $DOMAIN_HOME.
If this directory exists, it complains with the above error.

Unfortunately, I think weblogic needs this directory, and removing it causes
weblogic not to start.
However, if I start weblogic (with the directory there) , rename the directory,
then install GeoServer, it seems to work. At least in a fashion.
Still can't get security working, still getting a 404 consistently, even though
in this version of GeoServer, there is no mention in the logs of
accessDenied.jsp missing.

Thanks

Norman

Thanks.

This case isn't clustered, however I am still running another version of
GeoServer within the instance.
I suspect this may be causing the issue?

I have increased the PermGen space and it may have helped! Thanks.

Nope, I also had another independent report of this problem, which may be
Weblogic specific (as in,
the other report mentioned Weblogic too).

Christian (cc'ed) worked on the security subsystem changes, maybe he can
comment.
The case is clustered install, with N instances pointing at the same data
directory.

Cheers
Andrea
