Re: [Geoserver-users] WMS Cascade Options

2017-10-04 Thread Jason Newmoyer
Cascaded WMS is a great feature and we have wished for the ability to apply
scale dependencies, as well as other filtering. But have tried all sorts of
approaches and I can confirm it is impossible in its current state.

2017-10-04 Thread Paul Wittle via Geoserver-users
Hi Andrea,

Do you mean for me to create an SLD file with multiple elements
each with a single containing a scale and
RasterSymbolizer?

I created the relevant SLD and then called it using SLD= instead of
LAYERS=&STYLES= but it is still drawing all the layers regardless of the scale.

Perhaps I didn’t understand what you mean by trying to setup a SLD to clone the
default raster style?

Thanks,
Paul

Hi Paul,
cascaded layers internally act as raster data sources, so I would try to setup
a SLD cloning
the default raster style, and set the min and max scale denominators: it might
just work.
Let us know how it goes.

Hi Paul,
doh, I did not remember that style selection is not available for WMS
cascaded layers.
So, if this is the case, I believe there is no way to do what you want
(checked the
code, even the &SLD approach will not work).

Sorry, I coded WMS cascading 10 years ago and I did not use it much in the
meantime,
I was remembering something that is not actually there :-p

[Geoserver-users] FOSSGIS Konferenz 2018 - Call for Papers startet

2017-10-04 Thread Konferenzorganisation

Liebe FOSSGIS-Interessierte,

Call for Papers startet. Die Konferenz findet vom 21. bis 24. März
statt. Sponsoren und Aussteller sind willkommen. Zeitgleich wird es
einen internationalen OSGeo Code Sprint geben. Dieser findet im
bewährten BaseCamp statt.

Die FOSSGIS 2018 findet vom 21. bis 24. März 2018 an der Universität in
Bonn statt. Zur größten deutschsprachigen Anwenderkonferenz für freie
Geoinformationssysteme und freie Geodaten, die zum 12. Mal veranstaltet
Astrid Emde vom FOSSGIS e.V.
neueste Entwicklungen. Die gleichzeitig stattfindende Firmen- und
Projektausstellung ermöglicht einen direkten Kontakt zu professionellen
Dienstleistern.

Der Freitagnachmittag und Samstag stehen im Zeichen der OSM Community.

Call for Papers bis 28. November 2017
WebGIS, Desktop-GIS, Geodatenbanken, Location-Based Services,
Geoprocessing etc.
Docker, Angular2, 1. Schritte in Python, GeoPackage, QGIS für
Fortgeschrittene, QGIS 3 Plugins, GeoNetwork, GeoServer Einführung,
GeoTools + Java Topology Suite (JTS), pgRouting, INSPIRE Dienste,
ATOM-Feeds, Big-Data Geo-Frameworks, Big-Data Analyse in R, SpatiaLite.
Fragen zum Call for Papers beantworten FOSSGIS-Mitglieder gerne per
E-Mail an konferenz-o...@fossgis.de.

des Call for Papers geben.

[Geoserver-users] Overriding logging.xml with JVM system variable GEOSERVER_LOG_LOCATION not working as desired.

2017-10-04 Thread Steve Omondi
Hey guys,

I have 3 Instances of Geoserver on 3 different tomcat servlets (same VM)
with same CATALINA_HOME and CATALINA_BASEs. Each Tomcat runs different
JAVA processes.
All the Geoserver Instances share the GEOSERVER_DATA_DIR which is
externalised.

Running: *Geoserver 2.11.2 on Apache Tomcat/8.5.13 Ubuntu 16.04 Xenial*

I have set the GEOSERVER_LOG_LOCATION in the JVM processes for each
geoserver as GEOSERVER_LOG_LOCATION=/path/to/geoserver1.log,
/path/to/geoserver2.log and /path/to/geoserver3.log.

This is following failed attempts to set it as a Context parameter in the
../web.xml fro each Geoserver.

However, this does not Override the *logging.xml *configuration. All the
Geoserver Instances emits logs in the respective Logfiles up to this point
then stops;

No more logs are emitted after this line. Sometimes the logs are mixed up

What should I change?

Re: [Geoserver-users] WMS Cascade Options

2017-10-04 Thread Andrea Aime
Hi Paul,
cascaded layers internally act as raster data sources, so I would try to
setup a SLD cloning
the default raster style, and set the min and max scale denominators: it
might just work.
Let us know how it goes.

Cheers
Andrea

[Geoserver-users] WMS Cascade Options

2017-10-04 Thread Paul Wittle via Geoserver-users
Hi,

Would I be right in thinking that there is no way to set a min/max scale on a
WMS cascade layer if it is available at all scales on the remote server?

Usually you would set that with SLD but I don't believe that is possible for
cascaded layers?

Thanks,
Paul
