[Geoserver-users] Problem running GeoServer after upgrading from 2.10 to 2.14

2018-12-11 Thread Stein, Michael P [US] (MS)
In order to solve a WFS performance problem apparently related to GEOT-6014, I
am trying to upgrade from 2.10 to 2.14. I downloaded the new geoserver.war,
unpacked it, and added the following plugin JAR files to WEB-INF/lib:

commons-digester-1.7.jar
gs-querylayer-2.14.1.jar
gt-app-schema-20.1.jar
gt-app-schema-resolver-20.1.jar
gt-imagemosaic-jdbc-20.1.jar
gt-jdbc-oracle-20.1.jar

I also included the GDAL and JPEG2K jars that imagemosaic wants.

I then recreated the new WAR file and deployed it to JBoss 6.4, using Oracle
11.2.

In the logs, I see during startup:

14:03:23,094 INFO [org.geoserver] (ServerService Thread Pool -- 71) Loaded
data store 'aixm_VerticalStructure', enabled

I am not 100% convinced, however, that Geoserver fully starts. When I had 2.10
deployed, the last thing in the JBoss log between startup and trying to do
something was

11:14:15,624 INFO [org.jboss.as] (Controller Boot Thread) JBAS015874: JBoss
EAP 6.4.0.GA (AS 7.5.0.Final-redhat-21) started in 454055ms - Started 729 of
766 services (69 services are lazy, passive or on-demand)

This does not appear in the log with 2.14 deployed. Instead, the last entries
before I try anything is:

20:09:46,157 INFO [org.geoserver.security] (ServerService Thread Pool -- 58)

completed in 76558 ms

On the other hand, the GeoServer admin console is available.

When I try to execute a getFeature query for VerticalStructure features using
the same app-schema files and query that work under 2.10, I get:

14:04:07,836 ERROR [org.geoserver.ows] (http-/127.0.0.1:8080-2) :

I have verified that the app-schema-cache/localhost/files directory still has
all the old .xsd files. I may have missed something, but I don't see anything
in the documentation related to upgrading versions that tells me that something
must change in my configuration in order to go to 2.14 from 2.10. Reverting the
WAR file deployment back to the 2.10 version works as it did before.

Re: [Geoserver-users] Problem with SLD PointPlacement Displacement not working

2018-12-11 Thread Martin Davis
The maxDisplacement vendor option works well for separating two labels
which are both being rendered at the centre of the image (e.g. due to the
map extent being wholly inside both polygons). Actually I needed to use
spaceAround as well, to provide some separation between the two labels.

The problem is that in our application there client-side point feature
layers, with icons being rendered client-side (by Leaflet). When the map is
zoomed to one of the client-side point features, the icon obscures the
label underneath it. And actually a bigger concern is that the map area
around the icon is obscured by the label behind it.

We might be able to remedy this by forcing the zoom function to move the
map so the feature location is above or below the centre of the map
extent. But it seems cleaner and more versatile to force the underlying
labels away from the map centre.

Perhaps the general requirement here is to have more control over where
labels are placed in map image space, for the case of large "regional"
polygon features (which are often rendered at a scale where the map extent
is inside the polygon). The SLD Displacement parameter is one way to
control this. I could imagine a more sophisticated layout control allowing
labels to be anchored relative to the map extent box, as well.

Why use a static displacement, the maxDisplacement vendor option should let
GeoServer apply a suitable offset for you
in case the target location is already busy?

Re: [Geoserver-users] Problem with SLD PointPlacement Displacement not working

2018-12-11 Thread Martin Davis
I realized that I can solve the issue of two centred labels obscuring each
other by using the VendorOptions maxDisplacement and spaceAround. This may
also help with client-side icons being obscured. Although I suspect that
one of the labels will still be centred. However, the other label should
be visible, which should help.

Re: [Geoserver-users] Problem with SLD PointPlacement Displacement not working

2018-12-11 Thread Martin Davis
Thanks for the assistance.

I will look into logging an issue for this.

For the record, the use cases for this capability are:
- In the case where there are two polygonal coverage layers containing
large jurisdiction boundary polygons, when zoomed far in (so that the map
extent is fully inside the polygons), the polygon labels are both at the
centre of the map image and one is obscured. By offsetting the labels up
and down the goal is to show both
- On a web map where the client displays point features with clients-side
icons, when the map is zoomed to a point feature, the icon is displayed in
the centre of the map extent, and obscures the jurisdiction polygon
label(s) underneath it. Goal is to make the label visible by offsetting it.

@Ian Turton Not sure your idea will work because the
label needs to be place dynamically anchored at the centre of the rendered
image (not fixed at the polygon centroid)?

Re: [Geoserver-users] Problem with INSPIRE xsd schema

2018-12-11 Thread ljacedo
Hey Tõnis,

I was able to solve the problem with XSD schema and I have created my layer
ProtectedSite as it shows on demo and tutorial.

Thanks so much for your help, it really point me to the right direction

Regards
Luis Acedo

PS: I have another problem but It is not related to appschema. It is about
XSD. When I test the layer as it explaind on the Geoserver tutorial
(http://localhost:8080/geoserver/wfs?request=GetFeature&version=1.1.0&typeName=ProtectedSite)
It returns the following error:
Feature type :ProtectedSiteType
unknown

If you have any idea about how to solve this matter I would appreciate. I
will try to post the problem on the right list

Thanks anyway

[Geoserver-users] handling many geotiff files

2018-12-11 Thread Sebastian Teßmer

Hi everybody,
I have got a problem with my geoserver.
I have a folder with many geotiff files and want to create a layer which
include all these files.
From time to time new files are added and these should be integrated

automatically.
I also want the files to get a style.
Everyone must have a transparency of at least 50%.
I have already tried a lot, for example:

 * Image Mosaic - Image mosaicking plugin
 * ImagePyramid - Image pyramidal plugin

Both did not bring the desired result.
Does anyone have a solution, how to implement the problem quite easily?

Thank you and greetings, Sebastian

Re: [Geoserver-users] No top level element found in application schema

2018-12-11 Thread ljacedo
Hello all,

Thanks to Tõnis I was able to solve this problem. The main issue was with
datastore.xml and ProtectedSite.appschema files.
On the datastore.xml, I have to modify to point to the appschema file. as:

app-schema
http://inspire.ec.europa.eu/schemas/ps/4.0
file:data/ps/ProtectedSite/ProtectedSite.appschema

Also, I have to change the wokspace id.

Then on the ProtectedSite.appschema, I have to place the DDBB connection and
sourceType.

Thanks for the help

Regards
Luis Acedo

Re: [Geoserver-users] Problem with INSPIRE xsd schema

2018-12-11 Thread ljacedo
Hello Tõnis,

Thanks so much for your help, it really help me out solving this problem.
Now, I wonder if I could troble some more.
I´m trying to see how the appschema is link to a table on the database, and
I think I need to give a blackground on this.
I have an oracle database tables, based on my interpretation of the INSPIRE
UML model por ProtectedSite. I wonder if my interpretation is acurate, since
looking at the ProtectedSite.appschema shows fields that are not defined on
the table. Do i need to change these fields to my fields as it shows on the
UML? Do I need to add these fields on the ProtectedSite.appschema to my
table? How does it work with the links fields (See images for table fields).
Also, after loading the appschema, it seems I need to create the layer on
the geoserver or I need to create the feature.xml and layer.xml, is this
right?
Once more thanks for your help, I really apprecite, becasue at least i feel
I´m moving forward
Regards
Luis Acedo

Could you work round it by adding a geom tag with a centroid function to
get a point?
