[Geoserver-users] SMB (Business) Applications ?

2011-04-06 Thread Ted
Listers,

In a bid to promote GIS among business community, I'm trying to understand
what are the potential business applications that one can develop?

The target group is SMB's (Small and Medium businesses) but no harm in
knowing Large business as well. With this group in mind, can you share your
experience or what you think is potential for them?

eg;
Real Estate, property site with location, where property is all about
location, location and location.

I will summarize the replies after 10 days, to the benefit of the community
at large.

[Geoserver-users] Image Management

2010-09-30 Thread Ted
List,

I have a large archive of scanned topo sheets, size around 500MB each and
200 sheets in total.

Thats around 100 GB approx.

ow, whats the best OPEN SOURCE solution to mange these images and call them
on my web application (WMS, WMS-C...)

Is it adviced to store them as geoTIFF in Geoserver? How is the perormance?

any other suggestion? Can we store it as ECW, any licensing issues?

Well, the application is internal and intranet.

Thanks for the leads
