Re: Subtitles

Many thanks for your response. I am using the latest version (3.21).

I wonder why I'm having problems. I'll try an uninstall followed by a reinstall.

2019-07-18 Thread Paul Thornett
I posted a description of a problem I'm experiencing with all
subtitles using GIP at the moment. I'd appreciate it if someone could
download a recent programme using all the options I listed, thern let
me know if you got the subtitle correctly.

Many thanks.

When you download something using get_iplayer, that access is not linked
to your BBC user account at all. Indeed, a user account is not even
required to use gip.

I've never 'signed up' and also have seen some examples of the 'legal' tag
in the downloads of some items.

FWIW thus far I've not found a specific date for a change. From the files
I've looked at I can only say in the period from late-June to early-July.

I've noticed various 'odd events' and inconsistencies since "BBC Zounds!"
started up. I keep feeling that trying to run this alongside the standard
iPlayer has caused some of them. But no idea if that's a factor here.

Also: My inquiry has been passed on to someone at the BBC who may know
what has happened. I await any response. Fingers crossed. :-)

Given the Proms start *tomorrow* I really hope this is a temporary glitch
that is fixed before tomorrow evening!

My understanding is that this is what happens when the online version
has been edited either because someone said something they shouldn't
have, or because the BBC doesn't have online rights for some of the
content.

Or of course because someone ticked the wrong box.
