Did you read the report? It means that we won't see this feature
unless a new stable version of gimp-print is released that has this
functionality. When that happens, we still need to port the GIMP
plug-in to the new gimp-print API. I expect this to happen somewhen in
the GIMP 2.0 development cycle but most probably not for 2.0.

Please tell me that you are kidding. You don't want to tell me that
you are serisouly still using GIMP version 1.1.19, do you?

Can I say 'Duh'? Thats the cups version, along with foomatic
3.0something. The gimp-print is gimp-print-4.2.6-pre1 FWTW.

Unforch, the only mimetype my copy seems to be aware of is the text
type, where it supposedly would use enscript.

Unforch, I have only two working methods to print something, and lpr
isn't one of them. I can print a test page correctly from cups
(1.1.19), and I can print about anything I can import into the GIMP.

Anything else sent to any of my 4 printer cues, for 2 seperate
printers, actually comes out as a full bleed, light grey sheet of
paper. Nothing else, no odd patterns or anything, just a full bleed
light grey sheet comes out of the printers.

I posted it to the cups list and was apparently ignored, no replies
for 2 posts asking about it.

One thing I haven't tried is to print to file, using that ppd, and
then do a 4 or 5 line bash script to copy it to the printer. I used
to do that on my amiga so I could reprint a book as many times as I
wanted, by just copying the page files to the printer again.
Eventually of course, one must do space patrol and delete the page
files to make room for the next big printing project :(

But that seems like really beating around 720 acres of the bush to me.

I believe OOo can open a pdf, so no file conversion would be needed,
but the last time I checked, OOo was among the ones printing the
plain grey pages.

[Gimp-user] problem "fake installing" gimp-1.3.22

2003-11-07 Thread Jacob Meuser
I'm trying to build gimp-1.3.22 within OpenBSD's ports framework.
It does a "fake install" and then builds a package from the "fake
install root". I'm having a problem with libtool relinking
libgimpmodule, and looking for libgimpbase in /usr/local instead
of the "fake install root".

Here's a tail of the log:

Or, if you are in KDE, how about kprinter? Just call
kprinter target.pdf, which should open the kprinter window allowing

[Gimp-user] Multiple copies to printer

2003-11-07 Thread Gene Heskett
Greetings;

I have a target practice target.pdf file that I'd like to print about
50 copies of. Unforch, selecting print, it takes about 6-7 minutes
to render each one, but only about 1:30 to print it once rendered.
The print selector has no box for number of copies, so its taking me
about 10 minutes per page whereas it should be only 1:30 once the
render is done.

Is there anything I can do about this?

I stand corrected. There is also complete documentation in the
system gimprc file. However, those are probably not places that
people will go to look for docs on the preferences dialog. I
think we can agree that while there are lots of docs for the
preferences, there is no way to know where to look at them from
looking at the preferences dialog.

Perhaps context help (gimp-help project?) would help here.

Cheers,
Dave.

The best thing to do is to search bugzilla with the keywords of
your bugs, and if you don't find any existing bugs, to create it.
If it's not a bug, it will be marked as invalid pretty quickly.
As if it is, it has a higher probability of getting fixed.

This doesn't appear to have a bug associated with it.

The contents of the image window and the status bar are now
customisable in the preferences. The %D format string gives you
the dirty flag. %D* will add a * to the title if the image is
dirty, %D@ will add a @. This is not very well documented at the
moment... the format strings supported are in
app/display/gimpdisplayshell-title.c

Perhaps... I suspect this is a window manager issue. In any case,
please open a bug against the gimp for this, and it'll get
redirected.

As of 1.3.22 there are two sets of preferences for the display -

You are missing a Preference setting. See "Image Windows->Title and

Yes indeed. Please file a bug report for this. But the the info window
as is is supposed to be replaced in the short term anyway...

Again, you missed a Preference setting. Fullscreen mode is now fully
configurable and the default setup is to have the fullscreen view show
the image w/o any layer or selection boundaries. (Is anyone actually
reading what I write into the NEWS file??).

This is rebindable, as far as I know.

In any case, on window managers which grab Alt-drag, you can use
Ctrl-Alt-drag as an alternative. kwm 2 used to grab Alt too, so
at one stage this was a FAQ. Anyone want to start maintaining
one? :)

Cheers,
Dave.

I can not reproduce this with current CVS HEAD. When I link two layers
and use the move tool on one of them, the other layers moves as well.
Perhaps I misunderstood the problem?

This can be configured using File->Preferences->Title & Status. You need
to add %D* to the beginning of the Image Title Format line. See also

Yes, I would say it should focus the Info Window again. Please file a
bug report on this.

Try right-clicking the image to display the image menu. Then chose
View->Show Selection.

If you would like the selection to be shown by default when in
fullscreen mode you can change the behavior in
File->Preferences->Appearance.

I can easily reproduce that here. I thought there already was a report
about it in bugzilla, but I can't seem to locate it now. Please file a
bug report about it and attach no_5.png to it.

Reporting found bugs is always a good thing :)
