When I need clean images in a .pdf document (assuming I have clean lossless format images in the source document), I use either of the two: 1. I have Adobe PostScript driver installed as a printer, with which I create .ps files; then I use Adobe Acrobat Distiller 5 (version 5, because this is what I have; don't know about more recent versions) with Settings -> Job Options... -> Compression -> both "color images" and "grayscale images" set to ZIP or 2. I use OpenOffice Writer (or use OO also for MS Word documents if the slightly layout differences are not strict) and create the .pdf with the OO built-in menu command (Scribus is also a good option, but may be a different thing/scope) Otherwise I tried Ghostscript & GSView, or PDFWriter, but I have never been able to find an option to force the creation of a .pdf with images *not* converted to JPEG. The GIMP mailing lists misses the Reply-To: field, causing a lot of annoyances and sometimes delays (delays when realising after several hours that my message was sent wrongly to the author instead to the mailing list). For a mailing lists (generally), for me the "Reply to All" is only useful if for some reason I want to reply off-list to the sender, in which case I copy-paste-delete some recipient fields in order to particularize the destination. But this is the exception, not the rule. Long time ago I used a very good mailer program for its time, PMMail, which had a very useful feature: a popup message was triggered in case the From: and Reply-To: was different, asking me to whom I want to actually reply. If I have to learn things only from Google or asking other sources, then what is the use of a step-by-step type tutorial ? Other than that, how do I suppose to know that this is a plugin ? From my point of view (as generic user) it may be very well part of the main program. Or everything in GIMP is plugin ? [Gimp-user] where is Image/Mode/Decompose ?
I followed the tutorial here http://www.gimpguru.org/Tutorials/SmartSharpening/ and stopped at the "Right-click on the duplicate image and select Image/Mode/Decompose.". There is no "Decompose" here. What now ? I'm on Win32, GIMP 2.4.5. Cristi ___ Gimp-user mailing list Gimp-user@lists.XCF.Berkeley.EDU https://lists.XCF.Berkeley.EDU/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user
