If you unchecked the save background, it should have been fine. Which
means your problem is probably not in GIMP but rather with using a
browser that isnt fully alpha-in-png compatible. If you have a link,
maybe some of us could take a look and see if it is fine in another
browser.

Re: [Gimp-user] Black/white drawings => black/alpha drawings ?

2001-03-28 Thread Rebecca J. Walter

1) use the curves dialog to take the light greys and change them to
white and the dark greys and change them to black

2) add alpha channel

3) select the white by color
4) edit -> clear

should now hav eall the white transparents.

but the curves dialog is very useful for making although those greyish
specks go white or black as needed.

Unfortunately GIMP does not have this feature at the moment. If anyone
who wants it can code, I am sure it would be nice for GIMP 1.3. (1.2 is
in feature freeze). Probably it needs to be something like creating a
path then shaping the text to the path, but i'm no coder and don't even
know if that is possible.

This issue has been brought up many times on both gimp-user and

usefulness so is not an option. i'm afraid we just have to live with

I don't have the ximian gimp... Actually I haven't used GIMP much lately
and don't even remember when I last compiled from CVS.

But.. could you please check bugzilla.gnome.org in the GIMP module for
similar bug reports? A crash is a pretty serious bug so you should
report it if you can reproduce it.

If you need more help writing a bug report, please let me know. I'm

Use the clone tool. The icon looks like a rubber stamp.
Oh.. wait.. does that work between pictures? If it doesn't work between
pictures, you'd have to make a section into a pattern or copy it into
another layer.

What kind of computer are you using? I am running SuSE Linux on my

I'm not sure I completely understand the question, but the .xvpics

I probably either missed your question or didn't know the answer.
Do you want to try posting it again? Also be specific about things like
what distro you use, what gimp version, what OS (win, mac, linux).

If we can't answer it, maybe I can track down someone who can.

As for outdated stuff.. The web page is in the process of being redone.
It will appear.. eventually. Development is going quickly with work on
the new 1.3 tree (will become 1.4 when it is stable). 1.2.3 is due
whenever yosh gets it finished.

Re: [Gimp-user] Print plugin not loaded

2002-02-24 Thread Rebecca J. Walter

It seems that the first thing to do is to upgrade to 1.2.3. It may be
that something is broken in 1.2.2, but 1.2.3 is out now. If an upgrade
to 1.2.3 doesn't fix it, please post to this list again and post a bug
to bugzilla.

1.2.3 is available at ftp://ftp.gimp.org/pub/gimp/v1.2/v1.2.3/ and
should be a pretty easy install.

If you have problems compiling, feel free to come to irc.gimp.org #gimp
and ask for help. carol is working on a howto so can use info on any
problems people encounter.
