Hello,

I would prefer to have Stephane's blessing, too but if he doesn't react soon, I
could also put a redirect to your server.com/glob2
When would you have time?

I completely trust Leo's decision with respect to server migration,
sorry for the late reply, I was out without internet access for a day.

I can easily redirect the domain no problem.

Kind regards,

Stéphane

 Hi

the glob2 website is down. some evil script was using the machine to spam and
 my
attempts to stop that were unsuccessful and i tried upgrading the box. the
upgrades broke the wiki and most likely also the forum. if anybody wants to
 take
over, i would be more than happy to hand over the db dumps and whatever data

Re: [glob2-devel] server down

2012-06-27 Thread Leo Wandersleb
Hi,

uhm ... there is different parts to it.

Now urgent is the wiki and the forum, so it's a mediawiki and a phpbb.

If somebody also takes the glob2 meta server YOG (which has a bug causing it to
core dump until the disk is full which I currently fix by deleting the .glob2
folder every some months) I would most likely get rid of this server.

I'm pretty happy I got 4 replies already but this means I would have to choose
whom to go with.

Valentin, Adam (no IP needed), Bernd (Holarse??), Linus (It's a 10€ VPS at
Strato):
Who of you already runs a mediawiki and a phpbb and knows how to keep it alive
for years dealing with vulnerabilities being exploited and spammers registering?
Best would be experience migrating from an old version as this is the first step
it would take to get it running again.

The migration would also need action by Stephane (CC) who owns the domain.

I would really love to hand this over but if all fails I would also be more than
happy to invite a capable admin to get it running on my updated machine again. I
keep this server alive more or less exclusively for glob2.

Regards,

Leo

I already host a MediaWiki and used to host a PHPBB.
I am used to administrating them both.
I also have can hack basic PHP code.
As I am currently learning C, I may be able to try to debug YOG one day.
I also have a DNS server (managing a few domains), if it can help.

However, I do not have much security enforcement on my server, I just do the
basics (separate users, ...).
More over, I do not have any garantee about how long I can host it, as it is a
VPS hosted on a friend's dedicated server. Once I will finish my studies and
have a living (ie. in about four years), I will probably buy my own server and
migrate everything to it.
By the way, the server is currently hosted at Roubaix, France by OVH.
