database question
Hi All, I'd like to preface this question by saying I don't know much about databases. But I am trying to work with a customer who is trying to do the following... I am supplying them with scanning equipment that can produce a pdf file with meta data in the file name. It will look something like this: info1_info2_info3_info4_info5.pdf The info1 - info5 will be replaced by specific meta data with information about the PDF file. Now the question, We would like to know if there is a way to write a script that would strip out the info fields separated by underscores (this separator could be changed to any valid character) and populate database fields, possibly using MySQL. The second thing that we would like the script to do is to move the file from one folder to another possibly based one one of the info fields name. For instance if the info1 field is a customers name or number that the file would be moved to a folder with that name. I hope that this is OK to ask here, if not I would appreciate pointing me in the right direction. Thanks for any feedback. = . Re: CUPS help?
Paul, Sorry I could not respond to your CUPS problem as quickly as I would have liked, but I've been out on the road swamped with work. Making up for the Holiday Snow day. Now that I have had a chance to REALLY read your post I noticed So, I switched my config from using ipp://hostname:631/ to I have had the most luck with either lpd or port 9100. On older printers lpd Seems to be more commonly available. On the newer ones most also have port 9100. I also noticed that the syntax on the CUPS web tool for ipp was slightly different It has ipp://hostname/ipp/port1 I dont know if that wouldve made a difference on your printer or not. The syntax for lpd is lpd://hostname/queue If the Xerox copiers your printing to have fiery print controllers the queue is probably print. I usually make sure I can ping the host by name or you could use the ip address inplace of the host name. using socket://hostname:9100, and everything works just ducky :) Thanks everyone! -- Seeya, Paul Glad it's working! = . RE: [gnhlug-announce] My apologies...
I fully agree with the punishment. Everyone makes mistakes, but the punishment must fit the crime. But I believe Paul should know, that if he doesn't accept his punishment, we will hunt him down and force him to use Windows 2.0 until he does. :) Our Constitution forbids the use of cruel and unusual punishment. So Windows is definitely out :-) Hey, I am definitely interested in redoing the CUPS Scanning presentation in January. I had a chance to do a practice run last night. I found out I had a few typos [I hope I spelled typos right ;-)]. = . Regards, Vince McHugh Systems Support Manager NECS\Canon __ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Plus Powerful. Affordable.
