I should be able to be there both Fri and Sat, with my usual collection of
equipment, and a stack of CDs to burn to.

I will also bring recent ISOs of Fedora Core, Whitebox Enterprise Linux,
Debian, Knoppix, Mandrake, and maybe others.

Oh, YES! Time for the Rites of Spring. STUFF! Derby Day!

And it won't be raining this time.

See you there. Let me know if there's anything I can bring.

Actually, I think I have shirked my duty last fall and maybe spring too.

Anyway, I will around on Friday after 1PM and should be there Sat as
well. I wander about since I need my biannual fix of radio junk.

This year I will bring some bootable CDs based upon Knoppix which have
many Ham Radio related applications set up and ready to go for demo and
give away. I will bring an ISO so more can be made. With the CD, not
sure we need a dedicated computer to demo ham programs, but will see
what I can do on that front.

The only issue is I am involved in setting up a station near Cannon
to memorialize the Old Man's fall and that might make Sat. tricky.
Still, I think Bruce is serving up something that afternoon and I would
like to be there as well.

[gnhlug-announce] Oh NO!, It is Hoss Traders again!

2004-04-19 Thread Jon maddog Hall
Once again it is time for that lovely event called "Hoss Traders". For those
of you who are not familiar with "Hoss Traders", it is a Ham Radio meet
where people sell junk (er, ah) precious amateur radio equipment and also
computers. It is a place where you can get rid of your junk (er, ah) used
computer equipment and pick up even more junk (er, ah) useful items.

Hoss traders is at the Hopkinton Fair Groups in Hopkinton, New Hampshire, and
this year will be held Friday, April 30th and Saturday, May 1st. Note that this
breaks the usual jinx of being held the day before Mother's Day. The official
web site is at: http://www.qsl.net/k1rqg/

Traditionally GNHLUG has had three tables at the event, and this year will
be no different. Also usually, we have a few die-hard stalwart people
(notably Ben Scott and Ed Lawson and a few others) volunteer to stand by the
tables and make CDs of distributions, and hand them out. I usually also
attend.

The event usually starts about 0900 on Friday, with people setting up and
really gets underway about 1200 hours. People often camp out Friday night on
the fairgrounds (plenty of space), and go through that night and the next day

Lots of people bring lanterns and flashlights and go around in the dark looking
for things (I kid you not), but our building (yes, we have a nice building
to be in) is locked up about 2200 hours and opens the next morning at 0800
so we can get some decent sleep (or look for other ju.stuff).

Fees are the same as in the past: Friday 9 AM to 3 PM $10 per person.

THERE IS A $10 FEE FOR CAMPING ON FRIDAY NIGHT

After 3 PM on Friday, $5 per person.

I pay the seller fees and the table fees as a contribution to the cause.

It is a lot of fun, and you should think about going.

Ben, Ed, rea? Can I count on you again this year?
