Both browser works on /boot.html. Everything else fails. Also with
cleared caches and within private sessions

Note that it worked before (as in a week or two ago)

What sort of network are you on?

Mobile broadband (4G)

With a satellite network there is a large lag and some satelite
services I know use extensive proxy and compression schemes that
would break things, but on a clean internet connection I can't
imagine why nothing would work unless a problem at the browser
 level.

But IceWeasel, that is a virtual guest in this W7 box, uses the same
connection.
And that one works

Just as a quick aside, it would not have been difficult for me to create a
website that will work 100% of the time using a few simple techniques with
Gnoga. My goal though is to get anything to work as widely as possible, so
thank you all for the help in testing.

Minor correction: The main page was partially displayed on IE. In fact, the

The reason is that Websockets is actually very well established now and
there are few exceptions. I think perhaps I need to find away to go the
reverse direction, start with websockets and fall back to ajax if it
doesn't work. I'll look in to it.

 Chromium, Firefox, and Opera.

Gnoga.com gives the loading graphic for all 3. Indefinitely for Opera.

Sometimes C FF show the loading graphic followed by the Connection to
Application has been terminated msg and other times show the loading
 graphic
 indefinitely.

Gnoga.com/ajax.html gives a blank page for all 3.

 FF also has

 Transferring data from gnoga.com...

in the status line for the loading graphic and the Ajax page.
