My next cvs problem (sorry): there was no Vietnamese translation for this file, so I copied one of the existing translations, changed its filename, and edited the fields. cvs did not like this. I've sent the translation directly to the maintainer, since my cvs problems look like being long-term, but I would like to know how to do this. There are many files which have not previously been translated into Vietnamese, so I need to know how to do the first one. Sorry to keep dumping all these problems on you: I'm starting to think it would be quicker, and waste less time for me, if I printed the translations out and sent them by snailmail... from Clytie (vi-VN, team/nhÃm Gnome-vi) Clytie Siddall--Renmark, in the Riverland of South Australia á thÃnh phá Renmark, tái mián sÃng cáa Nam Ãc ___ gnome-i18n mailing list gnome-i18n@gnome.org http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gnome-i18n

When there is no translation for the particular program, I usually take the pot file from the http://l10n-status.gnome.org Also there is usually no need to merge translations by hand (and download the sources, and generate the pot file). The files in translation stats pages have been already merged. -- Priit Laes http://amd.store20.com/blog/ signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part ___ gnome-i18n mailing list gnome-i18n@gnome.org http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gnome-i18n
commit problems and currency
Hi everbody :) My team-leader, may he never lose data, has solved my problem. Apparently, the files I have been checking out from cvs are _not_ the most current files. For example, the file-roller file I have been obsessively re-checking and re-submitting: gnome/cvs/gnome-2-10/file-roller/po has a date of 2003 and does not show the many modifications shown by the file-roller file I can download from my l10n page (which has a 2005 date). There have been a lot of changes: no wonder this file kept showing up with fuzzies and empty strings! And I was still trying to get the outdated version committed... I am still puzzled as to why we use cvs if it isn't about getting and maintaining the current version, but at last I have a fix: don't check out the file from cvs, get it from the l10n page, then commit it via cvs, if necessary checking out the old file and replacing it. Boy, is it a relief finding out what was wrong! I was starting to think I was past anything requiring detail. :( Not yet. :) Thankyou very much to those kind people who tried to help me in this group: I would have given up long ago but for your encouragement. :) from Clytie (vi-VN, team/nhÃm Gnome-vi) Clytie Siddall--Renmark, in the Riverland of South Australia á thÃnh phá Renmark, tái mián sÃng cáa Nam Ãc ___ gnome-i18n mailing list gnome-i18n@gnome.org http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gnome-i18n
gnome-session string freeze breakage
There has been an unannounced string freeze breakage in the string frozen gnome-session for gnome-2-10, it seems that gnome-session has not branched for gnome-2.10 yet. Two new strings has been added. These are the messages: #: ../gnome-session/gnome-session.schemas.in.h:8 msgid "Selected option in the log out dialog" #: ../gnome-session/gnome-session.schemas.in.h:12 msgid "" "This is the option that will be selected in the logout dialog, valid values " "are \"logout\" for logging out, \"shutdown\" for halting the system and " "\"restart\" for restarting the system." The relevant part of the log for gnome-session.schemas seems to be this: revision 1.3 date: 2005/04/26 10:56:50; author: carlosg; state: Exp; lines: +11 -0 2005-04-26 Carlos Garnacho Parro <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Fix for #76791 * gnome-session.schemas.in: new key for handling default selected option in the logout dialog * logout.c: implement option saving/restoring * headers.h: add the new key define http://cvs.gnome.org/viewcvs/gnome-session/gnome-session/gnome-session.schemas.in?r1=1.2&r2=1.3 No warning had been given in advance for this addition. GNOME is in string freeze, which means that prior announcement and approval of string changes and string additions is needed, as described on http://developer.gnome.org/dotplan/tasks.html#ApprovingFreezeBreaks. I suggest that this change should be reverted from the string frozen branch. If people disagree with that, then I would like to hear some motivation on why this change is considered important enough to break the freeze and why it cannot wait until the next development cycle. posible string freeze breakage gtk+-properties
Hello everybody I noticed that gtk+-properties has a new fuzzy string in gtk-2-6 branch, I was wondering if gtk+-properties is string frozen for gnome-2-10 or if it has its own schedule? Re: gnome-session string freeze breakage
Hi, Thanks for that. I've created a gnome-2-10 branch now and reverted those changes from the branch. I did it that way, rather than going back and branching before the changes, so as to make sure the gnome-2-10 branch got all the translations which have been updated since then. Cheers, Mark. You obviously haven't really come across more advanced CVS commands. You may be interested in [1], section "How to add a new translation".
