We already have this, called obsolete: http://l10n.gnome.org/releases/obsolete/ Packages that have not seen a single non-translation commit since two years are/should be here. If you know about such packages in the gnome-extras list, let us know and we put it there. I also think we can get rid of modules that are considered dead by their own maintainers, like Gimmie. This may involve sending a few mails, though ;). If we are already at cleaning: I just moved to obsolete the gimmie (I believe you that it's dead :)), pan, and 4 other modules that were deprecated from the Desktop set (gnome-keyring-manager, gnome-volume-manager, fast-user-switch-applet, nautilus-cd-burner) - I think it's safe to consider these dead too. Hi Claude, sorry for the late reply, got taken down with a flu. As you have correctly noticed the translation of the emblems has disappeared as we've temporarily put an artist-created build system that took away all the manual torture we had to go through for every icon. Rodney is planning to replace this temporary build system with an actual and polished one eventually. It wasn't by design we removed the translations, even if it is somewhat questionable if the translation should happen in an icon theme. If you feel like you're able to help us bring the translations back into this temporary build, I'd appreciate it. For gnome-extras I would like to have a release set containing all translations that are planed for release in the next 6 months or that are actively developed. Right now for a language 30% translations in gnome-extras, the translators will see a big list of unfinished translations and they will don't know how to prioritize their work. Maybe they will start working on gimmie while there is no planned release for those translations. Maybe gimmie is just an exception, and I'm wrong. I don't know if we need a stable branch for Gnome Extras, or we need a new Gnome Extras Inactive release set, or just "cleaning" the current Gnome Extras set. Virtaal 0.5.0 released
Hallo everybody I'm quickly writing about the recent release of Virtaal 0.5. Virtaal is a translation program with features to help translators increase translation quality and have fun. I believe that Virtaal is a great translation tool for GNOME, and we worked hard to comply well with the GNOME HIG. We welcome your feedback and contributions to the project. Highlighted improvements for 0.5 - Autoterm provides terminology files for Virtaal to download and use (even if the internet connection disappears later). - Web look-up allows you to look-up some selected text on websites - Highlighting of differences in non-100% TM matches - New plugins for machine translation with Google and Moses - Language identification for easier selection of language pairs - New autocorrect files for Luxembourgish and Croatian - New translations: Sotho, Northern Sotho, Songhay, Korean, Ukrainian. - Several bug fixes. Many thanks for the updated translations. New translations are welcome. Users of input methods such as ibus should see their issues fixed, but need GTK+ 2.18 (on Linux). Now these branches are still not linked in any release, but the stats are at least available on each module's page. Translators, check it out!
