Hi Michael! I joined the Australian English Team a couple of months back and have tried, unsuccessfully, to contact Peter Lawler the co-ordinator. Each time I get an unknown recipient returned email basically saying the six-by-nine.com.au email used by Peter does not exist. Thanks for your interest in joining the GNOME Translation project. Looking at the statistics[1] it doesn't seem like the team is actual active so you might want to formally change the coordinator if he is not responding[2]. In any case you might want to contact the en_GB team because they use some scripts to automate their work (mostly to correct spelling) and I assume that might work for en_AU, too, in many cases. Of course manual review is always required. l10n.gnome.org instabilities
Hi, In the next hours/days, I will try to progressively introduce the reduced po files functionality on l10n.gnome.org. More about this in later threads. Cheese string freeze break request
Hi, I'd like to request a string freeze break for cheese, in order to commit the patch available here: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=644917 Basically it seems that some mnemonics was removed from cheese menu entries, as well other entries are using wrong strings (for instance Help Content instead Content, or Save As without ..., or _Preferences instead Prefere_nces). From translators point of view it should be a simple task (restore some translations previously available or unfuzzy or add a couple of _). There are some cases, where the actions could just use the stock label that gtk provides. Network status menu strings landed in gnome-shell
We just landed the new network status menu in gnome-shell, which contains new strings (many of which are copies of strings from network-manager-applet). Giovanni wanted to commit that code with no changes from the nm-applet code it was copied from, but I'm going to just remove the _() there; the string doesn't even get used in the shell anyway. BTW is it an iso (package) issue? Should be use a newer release? NM uses tzdata's iso3166 file (which calls GB Britain) instead of the iso-codes one (which correctly calls it United Kingdom). Reduced po files on l10n.gnome.org
Hi, this is me again :-) If you read Friedel's blog post [1], you should know that we worked recently on offering reduced po files on l10n.gnome.org, so as strings that users rarely see in UI may be skipped by some translation teams. You will see several pages with new columns for the reduced version of UI file statistics. Currently, the only filtering is done on the gschema.xml.in presence in the source of a string. Of course, we will concentrate on finer filtering (even per-module) as soon as global stats and ui is stabilized on the site. I didn't triggered a complete regeneration of statistics, so the filtering is currently only applied when there are string changes or if I manually force a module to update. That's why the gain is not so obvious currently. On the Vertimus page, you may find two different files to translated, only if you gain anything with a reduced po file. See http://l10n.gnome.org/vertimus/nautilus/master/po/km Already translated strings or fuzzy strings are never stripped off the file. You can choose to translate the complete file or the reduced one, as you want. Report any bugs you find on Bugzilla and discuss here for design issues. Proposal to change the en_AU coordinator
