Hey, In GNOME 3.6 the window manager now displays window titles even if the dialog is transient for its parent window (In GNOME 3.0 through 3.4 the WM displayed the window as a sheet - e.g. without the window title). As no name has been set for most dialogs, the window manager now simply shows gnome-disks which is not very friendly. The fix is simply to give each dialog a meaningful title I have patches to fix this - it adds only five new strings - see https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=683831 for details. Translating udisks
Hey, The Disks application (pre-3.4 is was called Palimpsest / Disk Utility) and parts of GVfs relies on a some translated strings from the udisks project. Since udisks is hosted on freedesktop.org (which lacks the good i18n infrastructure of GNOME), I've been using Transifex, see https://www.transifex.net/projects/p/udisks/ However since I added it in January, no translations has been added ... in stark contrast to GNOME i18n where translations are added all the time... I was wondering if there is a way I can get udisks translated using GNOME infrastructure? If this was not a bug, I suggest to postpone it for the .1 release. What do you (or others) think? I added this string because udisks starting exposing loop devices and without this change the UI would say 10 GB Hard Disk for loop devices... and this is a lot worse than saying 10 GB File even if it's not translated. As such, I don't think it is wise to post-pone this change. Normally, users will never deal with loop devices so it's not like it's affecting a lot of users. Right now the implementation only supports - Linux MD Software RAID - Shutting down hard disks attached via USB but as more features are added to DeviceKit-disks/gnome-disk-utility we will support more things. E.g. when we add LVM2 support, then this will just work in Nautilus without any code changes. Now, the question is: there aren't any other verbs then start and stop to describe this action? Is it jargon or techinical? Honestly I feel a bit confusing to use a common term here, expecially speking about drives, volumes and files. Right now we never use the generic start/stop terms; they are only there for the case where we extend the GDriveStartStopType enumeration and people are using an old version of Nautilus. Also note that the terminology in Palimpsest is different since the target audience for Palimpsest (intermediate to expert) differs from that of Nautilus (novice users). How about the following amended version: First line (the brief description) must only be one sentence and should start with a capital letter unless it starts with a lowercase symbol or identifier. Don't use a trailing period either. Don't exceed 72 characters. Sounds good to me. And it would be really nice to enforce this using a git hook (repeating myself, I know).
