help addressing a translation bug

2020-11-20 Thread Fabio Tomat via gnome-i18n
please, can someone address me where I should point out a missing/wrong
translation selecting friulian language in gnome-control-center's "region
and language" setting (or in "users" settings)
Friulian is listed as Friulian instead of Furlan (the state is correctly
written)
but I cannot find where it can be fixed (maybe I can fix it myself)

fur_IT and Friulian

2020-10-19 Thread Fabio Tomat via gnome-i18n
I'm the maintainer of Friulian language in GNOME.
I noticed the presence of fur_IT in gnome languages
<https://l10n.gnome.org/languages/>.
It is at 0% as other languages like it_IT, pt_PT, de_DE are.
Are those languages needed for some reasons/projects?
If so I need to port all my translations to fur_IT (as Italians, portuguese
and germans etc. should do respectively) and ask to be the maintainer of
that language too.

Gnome Clocks split cases for Tuesday Thursday

2020-07-14 Thread Fabio Tomat via gnome-i18n
Hello,
I noticed that the string “T” (referred to Alarm|Repeat-On) is used to
display both Tuesday and Thursday (as explained in string comments). This
is true for English but in other languages those days uses different
letters (such as M for martars and J joibe in friulian or Martedì e Giovedì
in italian and so on...)
the same happens for Sunday and Saturday.

I think it should be fixed

about xdg-user-dirs

2018-03-13 Thread Fabio Tomat
I really don't know why freedesktop.org won't change the gpg key
<https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=102459> (or ignore the bug)
for the xdg-user-dirs maintainer, but it's unacceptable that since
2016-11-16 a translation is still not commited, It sound like the project
is in an abandoned state.
If even the maintainer can't do nothing, I really don't know what to do, It
seems a rubber wall and the worst thing is that this is ruining the overall
perception of desktop completeness and consistency for my language and
maybe for any new language added.

Sorry for annoying you with this problem again I know it's not strictly a
GNOME related issue

Re: Xdg-user-dirs really upset...

2017-11-08 Thread Fabio Tomat
Hi,
it isn't reaching the code repo (I just added gnome-i18n to the CCs because
in Damned Lies there's a link about the stuff of freedesktop.org
<https://l10n.gnome.org/languages/fur/freedesktop-org/ui/>). So, as a
direct consecuence, no software distribution can use it.

Mikel just answered to me that his BugZilla for new GPG
<https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=102459> is not progressing
and he is trying to contact someone in FD.o. He will also try to contact
Alex so "he can commit this meantime".

On september 2017 the maintainer (Mikel Olasagasti) said he was waiting a

gsettings-desktop-schemas

2017-08-08 Thread Fabio Tomat
Hello community,
I really don't want to bother, but I don't understand this word in
gsettings-desktop-schemas, I'm startint to think it's a typo.

"List of x-content/* types for which the user have chosen to start an
application in the preference capplet. The preferred application for the
given type will be started on insertion on media matching these types."

what's capplet?

Thank you

Best regards

question about two strings

2017-06-08 Thread Fabio Tomat
Greetings,
In gtk+ master there are two strings I don't know what's the contest:
Search Results
Search Shortcuts

So I looked at Italian translation and spanish one
they translated differently
In italian looks like:
Do a "Search" of "Results"
in spanish seems:
"Results" of the "search"

which one is correct?

Thank you

damned lies

2017-05-01 Thread Fabio Tomat
Greetings
I'm the coordinator of friulian.
Today I realized that in damned lies, at the user settings, when I look at
the languages available for the web site, they are all written in the
native language, except for "Friulian" which should be "Furlan".

Where can I fix that problem?

thank you

Re: Date Format with month names in genitive case - your opinions?

2017-04-20 Thread Fabio Tomat
Just to make things more complicated, I wanted to inform you that in
Friulian, we use this literally translated form:
at the _DAY_ of _MONTH_ of the YEAR

Moreover we use ordinal and cardinal day numbers, ordinal for the first day
of the month, and cardinal for the others (2-31)
Moreover we use singular for the first day, plural for the others...
So we really need this solution.

example:
al 1ⁿ di mai dal 2017
ai 15 di mai dal 2017

Regards,
Fabio

Re: date in friulian

2016-06-29 Thread Fabio Tomat
actually no, we can't use cardinal number for the first day of the month (i
wrote ordinal but was cardinal instead sorry "cardinal_number de mes de año")
like it is used in spanish (I read now that in spanish you can use both
"one" or "the first day of" so I answered my question :) ) and we use the
"at the"(singular/plural) form before that number. So I'm the first one to
face this problem. I try to file a bug as suggested by Rafael Fontenelle

Re: date in friulian

2016-06-29 Thread Fabio Tomat
the fact is that no spanish translated module used that form, just
"ordinal_number de mes de año", I asked if you faced the problem or
 not. That's all. :)
for example in gnome-shell spanish this string:

msgid "%B %d %Y, %H∶%M"
is translated as:
msgstr "%d de %B de %Y, %H∶%M"

2016-06-28 Thread Fabio Tomat
I searched around infos, and I found that SPANISH is similar to friulian in
this problem:

*el 29 de febrero de 1996*

*el primero de febrero de 1996*
they use articles (but always in singular form) before the date, but it
seems that in po file they use no articles before the day (they still use
the "of" before moth and year);
anyway they do not use the different number (ordinal for 1st) and cardinal
for the other days in the po file.
Does someone who translate from spanish has already tried to resolve this
problem with the date?

date in friulian

2016-06-25 Thread Fabio Tomat
Greetings community,
with gnome 3.20 I modified the dates in gnome as best as I could, but the
right form of the date is this:

al 1ⁿ di jugn dal 2016 literally translated: at the(singular) 1ˢᵗ of
June of the 2016
ai 25 di jugn dal 2016 literally translated: at the(plural) 25 of June
of the 2016

I don't know how to implement this.
the big problem (in the translated software) is specify if it's the first
day of the month or one of the remaining days.

Can someone help me resolve this problem, what should I do?

installation friulian

2016-06-25 Thread Fabio Tomat
Good morning community.
I just installed Fedora 24 but as the previous releases the installation
process was not possible in my native language (friulian). (last time it
was possible was a fedora long long time ago). Is there a reason for not
being in list during the installation or am I missing something?

Thank you all for your time
