Hi,

1. Try to download PO.

Result:

2. Try to upload something.

Result:
An error while trying to do the required action: /var/www/djamnedlies/data/

Thanks. For making our lives interesting.

I think that the easiest way is to use a PCRE in the git repo directly.
Something like (not tested)

perl -pi -e 's!foo!\#,\ fuzzy\nfoo!' if !(/\#,\ fuzzy\n!) po/*.po

Please do not do it though if you do not want to ask how to disappear
completely and never been found. ;)

Error when trying to push the Boxes help file

2020-06-14 Thread Yuri Chornoivan via gnome-i18n
Hi,

I'm trying to push a new uk translation into the Boxes repo:

https://l10n.gnome.org/vertimus/gnome-boxes/gnome-3-36/help/uk/

but Vertimus throws back an error message:

[Errno 1] Command: "if [ -e .gitmodules ]; then git submodule update --init;
fi", Error: error: RPC failed; result=22, HTTP code = 404 fatal: The remote
end hung up unexpectedly Unable to fetch in submodule path 'subprojects/gtk-

Am I doing something wrong (the file itself seems to be XML-valid)?

Thanks in advance for your help.

DL: cannot push translation of gnome-control-center in master

Hi,

I have an error message when trying to push updated translation of gnome-

[Errno 1] Command: "if [ -e .gitmodules ]; then git submodule update --init;

Hi,

This looks like the usual .desktop file. You can use xgettext to extract
messages like this:

cat $(PACKAGE_NAME).libretro | grep _ | cut -d "=" --fields=2 | sed 's|^|_("|
g' | sed 's|$$|")|g' > $(PACKAGE_NAME).libretro.tmp

xgettext OTHER_FILES $(PACKAGE_NAME).libretro.tmp

rm -f $(PACKAGE_NAME).libretro.tmp

Then merge them back:

msgfmt --desktop --template=$(PACKAGE_NAME).libretro -d po -o
your_file.libretro

Or you can use some custom Python script to extract/merge translations, like
this:

https://github.com/manatools/dnfdragora/blob/master/tools/desktoppo.py

Just replace the "desktop" with "libretro" and customize it as needed. msgcat
*.pot > all.pot can be used to merge your intermediate file with the main pot
file.

I'm not a GNOME expert, this was just some thoughts.

Hope this helps.

Yuri

Hi,

You can use something like this (search.sh):
-
#!/bin/bash

for i in `find /usr/share/locale/da/LC_MESSAGES -name '*.mo'`
do
sed "s/[&_]//g"<$i|if grep -q $1 "$i"; then echo $i; fi
done
-
then

./search.sh Test

Hope this helps.

Best regards,
Yuri

Sure. find takes several arguments. For example, to search in POs you can use

-name '*.mo' -o -name '*.po'

To combine several directories just add more finds

`find /usr/share/locale/da/LC_MESSAGES -name '*.mo'` `find /home/your_user/pos -
name '*.po'`

Hi,

Actually, no. Merges can be made manually (without automation) through the
Damned Lies from stable (numbered) branches to master but not otherwise.

There is a huge problem with old branches in whole GNOME. You can have the
master branch translated but the actual package can contain some old stable
branch (say 3.22) that you cannot see from the main team page. If you do not
know where to find the _actual_ branch it becomes a real PITA for the users.

Yuri

That's it. No releases, no new translations, no updates. Translation of master
is a waste of time (?).

"If you didn't come to party, then why did you come here?" (Jarvis Cocker)

That's too bad. I've tried to complete GNOME translations (master and "stable"
branches) through almost 1.5 years but just a quick glance on LP shows the
discrepancy for the "old good applications" with "stable" branch with no new
releases. With no regular release system (like KDE releases), translating
these GNOME applications is just a waste of time.

Just my 2 cents.

Yuri

Please calm down a bit.

We have witnessed at least several cases of the "blast from the past" since
GNOME 40 release when the translations from "master" were suddenly replaced by
the translations from the "old old stable" (these translations were actually
used in the release). Those translations have not been shown on the main page
until the "hidden" stable branch were created. It's a matter of fact.

Hi Claude,

This was not discussed earlier elsewhere, afaik.

And it is not an easy task as I do not have the judge-proven screenshots. ;)

Ukrainian interface translation was at 100% since 3.34 (yes, it is a shame as
it might be treated by the other teams as trying to arrange the needless rat
race). So it is an easy thing for me to track down those things but I do not
know how to prove it afterwards.

I might be wrong but the branching of gnome-todo (3.28, stable) and five-or-
more (3.32, stable) showed incomplete Ukrainian translations for GNOME 3.36
and 3.38 which the "complete" before the branching.

That's not a problem for me. I just reapplied the translations from master.
Now it's all right and Fedora stats are good.

https://transtats.fedoraproject.org/languages/view/uk_UA/fedora-35

But it might be a problem for GNOME users of Ubuntu (I have registered the
discrepancioes for 21.04) and the teams with long reviewing processes.

Thanks in advance for your consideration.

Best regards,
Yuri

Hi,

This translation is handled through the external platform:

http://translationproject.org/domain/xdg-user-dirs.html

It's very easy to use. Just ask the coordinator to add the team and send the
translation by email.

The translations from the above-mentioned catalogue is highly visible, so you
cannot have the real Abhasian system without them.

Just my 2 cents.

Hi,

From Gtk inbuilt docs:

A `GtkRevealer` animates the transition of its child from invisible to
visible.

`GtkStack` is a container which only shows one of its children at a time.

Hope this helps somehow.

Fractal: main branch is write-protected for translators

2022-03-31 Thread Yuri Chornoivan via gnome-i18n
Hi,

I have the following message when trying to push the translation into
Fractal's git via DL:

Error: Warning: Permanently added 'gitlab.gnome.org,172.31.2.39' (ECDSA) to
the list of known hosts. remote: GitLab: You are not allowed to push code to
protected branches on this project. To gitlab.gnome.org:GNOME/fractal.git !
[remote rejected] main -> main (pre-receive hook declined) error: failed to
push some refs to 'gitlab.gnome.org:GNOME/fractal.git'

Can somebody help fixing this issue?

Many thanks in advance for your work.

Yuri

Hi,

1. Register on DL:

https://l10n.gnome.org/ (the upper right corner)

2. Join the team:

https://l10n.gnome.org/teams

3. Go to the "GIMP and friends" page for your locale.

4. Choose the catalog and click on it.

5. Download the catalog (the lower grey button).

7. Reserve the translation (drop-down menu abouve the big empty text field).

7. Use your favourite software to translate (GNOME translator, poEdit,
Lokalize, OmegaT, etc.)

8. Upload the translation for review (the same drop-down menu).

9. Wait for the team coordinator to act.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,
Yuri

Error while trying to commit the chronojump translation via DL

2022-05-04 Thread Yuri Chornoivan via gnome-i18n
Hi,

I'm getting the following error message while trying to commit the chronojump
translation via DL:

[Errno 128] Command: "['git', 'commit', '-m', 'Update Ukrainian translation',
'--author', 'Yuri Chornoivan ']", Error: Committer identity unknown *** Please
tell me who you are. Run git config --global user.email "y...@example.com" git
config --global user.name "Your Name" to set your account's default identity.
Omit --global to set the identity only in this repository. fatal: unable to
auto-detect email address (got 'l10n@damned-lies-4-wjqfp.(none)')

The email address is established in my profile and it worked well so far.

Is there any way to bypass this?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Best regards,
Yuri
