Re: Re[2]: How to commit a translation for freedesktop.org project? (fprintd - Interlingua)

2013-04-23 Thread rafael ff1
Yeah, totally skimmed the body of the message. Sorry.

1) How to add 'ia' in the LINGUAS file?
Answer is: Since you don't have access to commit changes, you need to
break the inertia of the maintainer of fprintd asking to add the code
'ia' in LINGUAS and also to commit your translation.

If you want to certify that it is all ok, you can 'clone' the GIT repo
locally, add your translated PO file, change the LINGUAS file and then
run ./autogen.sh make... If no error is presented, you should find
a 'ia.mo' or 'ia.gmo' in fprintd/po/'.

2) Will the statistics at DL change eventually?
D.L. shows the current stats of the source code repository. If the
maintainer submits your translations and fix the LINGUAS file, D.L.
will eventually display the new status of the translation your
language team.

Please notice that Transifex works differently of D.L., as the former
one shows what translators provided and not what is in source code
currently. So, for example: If you submit translation file to
Transifex, 'ia' will be 100% in Transifex but maintainer didn't commit
the PO file to the repository yet. In this case, D.L. would not
display 100% because the respository is not 100%.

Cheers,
Rafael Ferreira

 Hi,

fprintd is one of the freedesktop.org (non-GNOME) projects. Its
 translations
 are hosted at Transifex.
I did the translation and uploaded it to Transifex. However, in Damned

this project has a mark Entry for this language is not present in LINGUAS

How to add the language tag ia to the LINGUAS file for this project?
Will the statistics at DL change eventually?

 Hey,

I sent an update on this new part of GNOME user docs to gnome-i18n back in
 Jan:

 https://mail.gnome.org/archives/gnome-i18n/2013-January/msg00023.html

With jimmac we are still working on two topics, but other than that the
content is mostly there. Because the deadline for the next stable release
is fast approaching, I think we can now move this doc to the official GNOME
 3.8 doc release set...

Because shipping a large number of translated videos would greatly affect
the doc tarball / package size, we will make use of Mallard's support for
subtitles, which can be then translated on Damned Lies. I will try to finish
this next week, before the GNOME doc sprint starts in Brno.

I will keep gnome-i18n updated on this.

Also, there is an open bug on support for language packs where we try to
track our progress, for those who are curious or interested:

 https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=692208

And shaunm recently blogged about this on Planet.

If you have any comments, ideas, thoughts etc., please let me or gnome-i18
 know.

Currently this is not easily possible.
All you can do for now is to manually build you own URL with module,
locale and file (for PO files from l10n.gnome.org) parameters.
There is no parameter to select a specific UI yet.

This is a good idea anyway, I will add it to the TODO list.

2013/1/28 Nicolas Delvaux cont...@nicolas-delvaux.org:
 Hi everyone,

 I made two changes to Deckard ( http://deckard.malizor.org ) that I
would like to share with you.

First, as Gil Forcada suggested, I implemented URL settings.
This is more understandable with an example.

A new PO file for Totem was uploaded yesterday for the Japanese
 language: http://l10n.gnome.org/vertimus/totem/master/po/ja
The merged PO name (as displayed on the page) is
 totem-master-po-ja-32541_1.merged.po.

Now, just click on the following link:
 http://deckard.malizor.org/?module=totemfile=totem-master-po-ja-32541_1.merged.po
(you don't have to add the locale parameter)

The PO file is automatically retrieved, as if you just uploaded it
manually. You just have to click Display :-)

In fact it works for all PO files available from
 l10n.gnome.org/media/upload or l10n.gnome.org/media/upload-backup.

So, technically, links to Deckard can now be embedded on Damned lies (on
relevant module pages). It's not up to me to decide if it should be
implemented, but I think it would be useful.

Secondly, I made some (big) configurations changes on my server so that
users behind a firewall can now use Deckard (everything is now exposed
on port 80). However, if you are behind a proxy that filter websockets,
I'm afraid I can do nothing for you :-(

On top of that, I also added support for 8 new locales (more are yet to
come). Feel free to report a bug[1] if you think I might forget to add
 yours ;-)

 And that's it for now.
Feel free to share any question/suggestion and to dive into the code at
 https://code.launchpad.net/deckard !

 Cheers,
 Nicolas

  Good afternoon.

As Claude reccomended me to send an e-mail to this list, I´m writing
to announce that the Gnome´s Brazilian Portuguese Tranlslation Team
will be coordinated by two (yes, two) persons: Enrico Nicoletto and
  Rafael Ferreira.

The previous coordinator, Mr Djavan Fagundes, has left the
Coordination due to his labor commitments.

So, please, someone could change the Coordinator name in Damned Lies,
in order to be shown the two coordinators ?

  Hi Enrico,

We'll gladly make the change as soon as Djavan confirms the change (or
if he doesn't respond in a reasonable time frame).

 Hi Claude,

Enrico and Rafael are now the coordinators for Brazilian Portuguese
 Translation Team.

Apologize-me, I had no time to inform you these changes.

It's done now :-) Thanks for the time you spent until now.

Enrico, Rafael, I just need to make some code adjustments so as Damned
Lies supports two coordinators. Should be online soon.

 Claude

Re: Translation of GNOME website

2013-01-04 Thread rafael ff1
AFAIK, except for looking the module's source code, you can only see
how the module's translations looks like by doing a local compilation
of the source code of the module provided by the GIT repository. I
don't know exactly it works to try the dynamic and static web site,
but I suppose you would need to prepare a web server, maybe in a
virtual machine.

e.g. for module 'gnome-user-docs', I build and then run 'yelp filename.page'.

Is there a way to see the GNOME static and dynamic web pages? In Slovenian
this stays untranslated, because nobody can make head or tails of it! Seeing
what should be translated is a key for making it good!

We know, and Dušan Kazik did commit to Git. See

Sent to Damned Lies doesn't mean sent to git repository[1]. Also sent
to git repository doesn't mean automatically made available to the
public.

I think a good summary of the workflow would be: send translation
push translation to the git repository maintainer compiles the
newly compiled module goes public by maintainer (or someone else -
don't know).

The good news is that you always can download the latest source [2],
copy your translation to it, compile the source code yourself and
verify your translations.

[2] git clone git://git.gnome.org/MODULENAME (where MODULENAME is the
name you see in the link above [1]

 Hi!

Good question actually, there should be a mechanism on the website to
pull translations from git and show them when browsing www.gnome.org,
maybe this has to be triggered manually, no idea.

Anyone can shed some light on this?

 Cheers,

I notice you are the coordinator, and only member so far, of the
Friulian language team. Why don't you have a git account with rights
for commiting?
