 Thanks everyone for the feedback!

Marking new messages as fuzzy seems to be consensus, so I pushed an updated
patch which does that.

I suggest you just make sure you do not overwrite existing translations,
as this might upset people and introduce translations worse than before.
If you introduce a new translation for a previously untranslated
message, we should be safe when it gets marked as fuzzy.

While I'm ok with adding translations from Metacity (they are reviewed
and correct anyway for Polish language), but I can see how some might
not want it. Maybe you could indeed add fuzzy tags, as Luca suggested?

Maybe mark imported translations as fuzzy and/or add a custom comment? It
could be helpful to "force" translators to review those messages,
additional checks are always welcome IMHO :-)

I propose not to do it for languages with decent level of translation
for mutter. Personally, I'm not happy when any external source modifies
translation files without explicit request. But for languages with no
translation for mutter, I think it's worth doing.

Importing existing translations from another module?

2012-11-12 Thread Florian Müllner
Hey everyone!

As fallback mode will now be officially dropped, we are going to remove the
last dependency on Metacity in Mutter[0]. This consists basically in
copying a couple of XML files, which contain translatable strings - as we
already have existing translations for quite a lot of locales in Metacity,
I'm planning on importing these into Mutter, in order to save you some
unnecessary work.
That is, unless you have any objections and prefer to do it yourselves of
course.

Comments?
