Our interest is in the form of the entries rather than their values. You should feel free to disguise account numbers, Payee names, and monetary amounts. However, if you do so, please watch that you don't change the format of the entries. Also watch for fields that are arithmetically related. As for the situation involving different export formats, our interest is only in the differences. If you can locate the differences for us, a single example entry would be quite enough. Individually, we each have access to only a small set of data sources. However with your help, we can collectively obtain a much larger sample. Basically, there are only 2 different files: on for Money and one for quicken. The only differences between each files are that Money file dates are generated with 4-digits years while Quicken file only use two. I can provide the sample files :=) Hub

[ sorry, but I have not followed the thread since I have been unsubscribed without notice... How can I get the archives ?] According to Bill Gribble [EMAIL PROTECTED]: Hubert Figuiere [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: I'm about to test QIF format import from my Bank. I don't actually think the differences will be significant; the QIF format hasn't really changed. Your bank may know about some version-dependent "quirks" that it puts in the exported QIF files, but the QIF import code doesn't know about the version differences (it tried to accept anything that looks like a QIF file). I can do this, but this banking informations are *confidential* (they are mine :=)). I can help you. Hub

(my goal is to test and/or check is something I want works) Thanks. Hub
Re: A question to the GNUcash developers
According to T.Pospisek's MailLists [EMAIL PROTECTED]: There's the DTA (Daten Traeger Austausch) Format used in Switzerland by --all-- banks. The format is --open-- (!). I know that there's something similar (or the same thing with a similar name) in Germany (check freshmeat for that). I wonder if there's an international standard for transfering "bookings" (is that the correct english word?). It sure would be interesting to have such a thing in the form of a library. Any point to som documentation ? Just for curiosity. Hub -- Gnucash Developer's List To unsubscribe send empty email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: How to get German mutual font quotes with gnc-prices ?
According to Reinhold Schoeb [EMAIL PROTECTED]: Hi all, I would like to use gnc-prices not only to get stock quotes, but also German mutual font quotes. Does anyone know which ticker symbols and which quote source I could use. Try www.boursorama.com (it is in French). Awfully, seems to require JavaScript (yeak). I couldn't find on Yahoo. Replacing previous price (Was: Re: cvs 2000-04-21)
According to Dave Peticolas [EMAIL PROTECTED]: CVS has been updated. New Stuff: + Some work on gnc-prices to reflect the new query api. Also, if the price obtained is different from the last price, go ahead and record it, even if it's the same day. Great. I did this myself, but I think that it should delete the previous price for the same day... I couldn't figure out how to delete/replace an entry. Any comment ? Re: Dividends
According to Hendrik Boom [EMAIL PROTECTED]: So GnuCash definetly needs a currencies conversion. For EURO, we can hardcode a fixed table of all "Euro currencies" since they are NOT supposed to evolve. For the other, we can have a table updated by the user (and automagically by gnc-prices). I woudn't rely on fixed exchange rates until the old national currencies are so obsolete that no one uses them any more. Since the fixed exchange rates were defined by politics, they can be changed by politics, no matter how permanent the politicians say they are. Euro and other Euro Currencies have a fixe exchange rate in order to unify Euro trading and to provide a smooth transition to the Europeanization. So the Euro exchange rate with Euro currencies will NOT move. BTW I talked about a "user customizable" solution to allow changing this rate juste in cas of... We still need a solution to the general problem of (variable) exchange rates. If we have one, it should handle the euro automagically. Yes, but having fixed Exchange rate for Euro Currencies allow to do everything off-line :-) Just my .02 EURO on the problem Hub -- Gnucash Developer's List To unsubscribe send empty email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Getting quotes several times a day
I am having trouble getting stock quotes several times a day and having them updated. It looks like they don't get updated if the stock has already a price for the day. This cause me trouble since the stock price evolve al along the day :-) If I look to gnc-prices.in, I see that the sub "checkprice" is supposed to check this. Is it a normal behaviour ? For example, 5 mins ago, I launched gnc-prices and got 12074.PA BUSINESS OBJECTS last price = 80.80 at 4/17/2000 while in the account I get it priced at 81.90 (price at opening). I'll see what I can do about this. I'm going to find myself in a similar situation if I ever invest in US markets. (I want to know everything in Australian Dollars.) It appears that Yahoo have an on-line currency converter, so I'll work on adding currency conversion to Finance::Quote. When I've got it working okay I'll post more information to the list about adding currency conversion to GnuCash. I have found another problem with conversion: I do have an account in EURO. But in the main window, the total is given un FRF (I have set LC_MONETARY to "fr_FR") but it give the EURO amount. This is annoying sice that make me loose money :-) So GnuCash definetly needs a currencies conversion. According to Paul Fenwick [EMAIL PROTECTED]: Salut ! I've been writing a regression testing suite for the stock-quote functions of GnuCash. While you are on it, is it possible to ignore stocks that have an empty "security" value ? Re: Dividends
According to Rob Walker [EMAIL PROTECTED]: Rob I'm also interested in adding some helper dialogs for things like Rob "stock split", "mutual fund purchase", etc. A helper for stock split! please! I will be glad to test that one out! I'll be happy to test too. BTW, how would it work if we had stock bought at a price of 0 (to simulate the split) ? BTW, I'm missing something with stocks. My employer is offering soemthing called PEE (Plan Epargne Entreprise) which is an investment plan for employee that allow the purchase of what they call "parts FCPE" which is *virtual* stock of the company, convertible to real stock. The problem is that the currency is in FRF while the stock is NASDAQ stock quoted in USD. How hard would it be to allow the stock ticker to fetch the stock price in USD (any currency), convert to the account currency and compute the real price ?
