[GNC] Register issues within 3.2

2018-07-05 Thread Alun Champion
OS: MacOS
Version: Gnucash 3.2

After pasting (Cmd-V) data into a register the register will no longer
receive normal keyboard input, just the annoying keyboard beep.

Enter still works, as does tab but no data entry from the keyboard in any
field in the register for that account. Other registers for other accounts
continue to receive input (unless you paste something into that register).

This is very annoying because I often paste data from online account data.

[GNC] Fedora 28

2018-07-05 Thread Ronal B Morse
Gnucash 3.2-1 just became available in the Fedora 28 repositories.  I
installed using DNF and experienced no unusual issues.

Thanks to whoever did the work.

Re: [GNC] Finance::Quote still not working with alphavantage

2018-07-05 Thread David Carlson
Greg,

Just so you don't feel like you are alone, I have GnuCash running on for
different machines one Windows and three are assorted versions of Uubuntu
and Debian. Only one of them (one of the Ubuntu machines) will retrieve
quotes successfully through AlphaVantage, and that is about 1/3 to 1/2 of
the U.S. stocks and mutual funds in my list on a given try. In two or
three tries I think that I get most of them. All of my machines are running
some GnuCash release between 2.6.12 and 2.6.17 and I think that I have gone
through all the steps that have been mentioned in this thread on most of
the machines but GnuCash still does not even tell me that it did not get
any of those stocks or mutual funds.

I suspect that GnuCash may not even be able to find the environment setting
or something.

Re: [GNC] Finance::Quote still not working with alphavantage

2018-07-05 Thread Greg Etling
Reviving this thread - I decided to follow others' recommendation of
installing perlbrew, and F::Q is working from the CLI. However, I'm not
seeing any change in the Gnucash behavior (v2.6.21, key in the preferences
pane, retrieval failing), so I think I'm missing a step on having Gnucash
actually use the perlbrew version of perl. Can anyone let me know what I'm
likely forgetting?

Thanks

Re: [GNC] autocomplete not working in 3.2

2018-07-05 Thread Alun Champion
I can confirm 3.2 has issues with completion on MacOS.
When typing in the register description the first letter completes but the
next letter inserts vs replaces the proposed completion, so if you intended
`commute`, `c` would complete to `car` and the next key would end up with
`coar`, which isn't the intended behaviour.

Also I've had an issue occur multiple times where it would start not
accepting any normal keyboard input in any field of the register, and need
to restart the application. (Note: cut and paste still works).

Regards
   -Alun.

Remember that CMake does things differently when told to install anywhere under
/usr and /opt.

Thanks Geert. I have added a note adding the information that this works ok

To replicate open an XML file, do File > Save As a new mysql db, revert to
the XML one again, and Save As Mysql again with the same db name.

This is v3.2 build from tarball on Ubuntu 18.04. Mysql 5.7.22.

Re: [GNC] Windows 10 installation very slow opening or saving file

2018-07-05 Thread Geert Janssens
Some people have reported saving took considerably less time when they made
the gnucash window as small as possible. This suggests gnucash is repeatedly
updating its window contents while saving.

Can you check if this makes a difference for you ?

This is odd in itself. I have been using ninja-build for months and the
uninstall target works just fine without your additions (it does leave the
directories of course).

So I don't understand why you would need to modify the generated build.ninja
file.

Indeed. You could add something to that effect in cmake_uninstall.cmake.in

build.ninja is generated based on the contents of the various CMakeLists.txt
and *.cmake files. I only look in build.ninja if a ninja build behaves
differently from a make build. Is that the case here ?

Note I always install in a custom prefix under my home directory. Perhaps
that's why my uninstall works where uninstall under /usr/local doesn't ?

Something to try when I find the time.

Your posting promped me to try this, and starting with the sample
GTK-3.0.css, having read the wiki 3 times, I've got it working and changed
some colours. It is actually quite easy, even for a 76-year-old.
Thank you.

You process a payment on the customer invoice, using the checking account as
payment account.
GnuCash will create the payment transaction for you and mark the credit note
as paid. If you want to print a check, at the same time you can enable this in
the payment window.
