Re: [GNC] Gnucash issues with Ubuntu on external drives

2021-03-12 Thread Adrien Monteleone
Not sure about the external locations as I personally don't use them
with GnuCash. I know plenty of people use DropBox and similar, but those
are most likely at best, local links. Maybe take that approach and see
if things improve in that area.

As for the random/sporadic other stuff, sorry, I can't help other than
to offer that until very recently, even across several decades, I never
experienced such things. Then two separate keyboards started wigging out
on me. Each one had random and different keys that didn't work. (one
bluetooth, the other USB) In some cases, normal use was only possible
using BOTH keyboards, sometimes with one using a control key while
pressing the secondary key on the other keyboard. Crazy stuff.

Yesterday, I couldn't even log in to my desktop at all because it got so
bad. Eventually I dismantled one keyboard and tried touching the bare
circuit printings. (which worked!) I then put that keyboard back
together and now it magically works fine. (after over a month of being
obnoxious; the other keyboard is still in lala land/on sabbatical)
tl;dr—sometimes, there is no rational explanation for logic circuits not
working. (makes sense if you ponder that one long enough)

Best of luck on that front...

Adrien

with the user list.

I installed GNC 4.4 on Ubuntu.

I'm getting some input issues that occur at random intervals. Account
names that seemingly cease to exist when doing line entry, account names
hiding when highlighted by mouse or keyboard. Auto-fill that does not
duplicate the prior entry (previous entry was Hurley, auto fills with Hu
unless I add the r.)  Minor inconvenient issues at the moment.  Will
post about them later.

What I can not find is why GNC will not show all of the mounted hard
drives, internal or external, when selecting a set of books to open. Nor
will it open the last set of books used if it was on an external drive
(I have not yet tried copying them to the Ubuntu drive to see if works)
.  I have to go to file manager and double-click the set of books I need.

Re: [GNC] Reports using accounts

2021-03-12 Thread Adrien Monteleone

1. Run the report.

2. Click the Options button on the toolbar.

3. Click the Accounts tab in the Options window.

4. Choose your desired accounts.

Any report that allows multi-account selection, offers this tab.

Adrien

Hi:

Using Ver 3.8 on ubuntu 20.04.2LTS on an older HP 64 bit i7 machine..

I Want a report showing only selected accounts, Seems like Transaction
Report would work but can't find how to access specific accounts.

I seem to be missing something somewhere. Maybe I am just looking in the
wrong place or the wrong report type?.

HELP,

Have you tried edit => report options?

If not, I suggest  you investigate what ALL the options are available
for each report you want to run.

Might not be obvious, but you FIRST run the report and then use
"options" to make changes to it. For example, some reports are always as
of some date or date range.

Re: [GNC] Strange message on launching app

2021-03-12 Thread John Ralls
You don't say what version of GnuCash, but GnuCash 4.x renamed
libgncmod-app-utils.dll to libgnc-app-utils.dll, so it seems that you have some
leftover bits from an earlier installation. Try uninstalling GnuCash with Apps
& Settings then delete the installation directory--it defaults to C:\Program
Files (x86)\gnucash--before reinstalling GnuCash 4.4.

John Ralls
