I'm waiting a bit on tweaking the transaction until I find out the capitol gain status, although I am fairly sure that there is no capitol gain other than the .72 fractional share amount. One thing that I noticed is that running the Advanced Portfolio Report shows a cost basis of $0.00 for AMD. [GNC] Stock Merger
I'm having trouble getting my head around setting up a stock merger. The merger in question is the recent Xilinx AMD merger. Pre-merger I held 800 shares of XLNX. After the merger I have received 1.7234 shares of AMD for each XLNX share (1378.72 shares). I received $85.65 "Cash in Lieu" for the .72 shares leaving a total of 1378 shares. Using the Gnucash Stock Split Assistant to the best of my abilities results in me now having 1378 shares of XLNX along with the $85.65 correctly added to the cash account at my brokerage. So how does XLNX become AMD? Am I supposed to create a new AMD entry and transfer the shares somehow? Or maybe just change the name and ticker symbol? Any help greatly appreciated! With the accounts page open, select View>Filter By... and make sure that all of the account types are selected on the “Account Type" tab and that Show hidden accounts is selected on the “Other” tab. There’s another way to get there as well: You can select Current Assets and select Edit>Open Subaccounts, which will open a register showing all of the transactions from Current Assets and all of its sub accounts in the normal order. That might help you see the transactions that drive it to a negative balance. I did that, I couldn't find any negative transactions (only a tiny one which I already know it). But I noticed most transactions don't reflect any balance while others did, does this related to my problem? How much is the discrepancy? IOW, if you add up all of the (positive) totals showing in the first-level sub accounts and then add the opposite of the (negative) total showing in Current Assets, what’s the difference? The discrepancy is big because when I calculate all my assets manually (multi-currencies) they did match the sub-accounts. Are there any transactions in Current Assets? Being a placeholder prevents you from adding transactions from the register, but there are other ways that transactions can get into it, including being transferred there when you delete a sub-account. Double clicking on it won’t work because it’s a placeholder so you have to use Edit>Open Account or pick Open from the context menu when Current Assets is selected. When I disabled "Placeholder" feature for "Current Assets" and "Assets" I found both of them are empty. Hi, After deleting some sub accounts under "Assets" I get negative value in "Current Assets". I manually look for any transaction(s) related to "Current Assets" but I failed to find any transaction related to it. How can I fix negative assets? NOTES: * I use multi-currencies. * I'm unable to see any negative values under "Current Assets" sub accounts. * All "Current Assets" sub accounts defined as "Asset" account type. -- Best Regards, Muhammad Bashir Al-Noimi Skype+Telegram+GMail: mbnoimi ___ gnucash-user mailing list gnucash-user@gnucash.org To update your subscription preferences or to unsubscribe: https://lists.gnucash.org/mailman/listinfo/gnucash-user If you are using Nabble or Gmane, please see https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Mailing_Lists for more information. - Please remember to CC this list on all your replies. The easiest way I know to accomplish that is to create a transaction report restricting it to that day and account, then make sure the create a table box is checked. Once you run the report, you can copy and paste the results into a spreadsheet. From there you should be able to get your average. Thanks Rick Usually I do it manually by getting number of days (from first transaction day to current day) using the following link then apply the average manually (this is really exhausting procedure because I've many accounts like this) [1]https://www.timeanddate.com/date/durationresult.html -- Best Regards, Muhammad Bashir Al-Noimi Skype+Telegram+GMail: mbnoimi References 1. https://www.timeanddate.com/date/durationresult.html ___ gnucash-user mailing list gnucash-user@gnucash.org To update your subscription preferences or to unsubscribe: https://lists.gnucash.org/mailman/listinfo/gnucash-user If you are using Nabble or Gmane, please see https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Mailing_Lists for more information. - Please remember to CC this list on all your replies.
