Right, it is in the file fp-state in your working directory. I had
expected you would attach that file to your email.
As John found the reason of your problem, you can now remove that file.

2022-04-26 Thread Colin Arndt
Mystery solved - FlatHub dropped support for 32-bit ARM OS’s, which is what I’m
on.

This means my issue is separate from Pagar’s. Sorry for muddying the thread.

2022-04-26 Thread Colin Arndt
Hi Frank,

I’ll jump in because I have the same issue on a Raspberry Pi. It won’t let me
update beyond 4.4 in Flathub, because it doesn’t detect any newer versions.

I’ve run the commands you sent, with the output redirected to files, but the
files don't show any fields beyond what Parag posted.

They’re attached. In essence they show my architecture is arm and that the
latest Gnucash stable in Flathub is 4.4 (the same as what my Pi is running).

Thanks,
Colin

Re: [GNC] Flathub does not install Gnucash ver. 4.10 flatpak, but only installs lower ver. 3.7

2022-04-26 Thread john
I see I was mistaken about the earliest GnuCash in flathub. It's in fact
2.6.16, in commit
https://github.com/flathub/org.gnucash.GnuCash/commit/d00d11bd14b3c9a1fce8a18f560163aca1742297

.
It appears that flathub dropped support for new i386 packages sometime between
September and December 2019, the release dates for GnuCash 3.7 and 3.8
respectively. That explains why you're unable to get a more recent GnuCash. The
nightly builds on code.gnucash.org are also x86_64
so that won't help you.

While Ubuntu no longer supports 32-bit computers Debian still does (but not
all, see https://wiki.debian.org/ArchitectureSpecificsMemo#i386-1
) and their current
stable release includes GnuCash 4.4. You still won't be able to use flatpaks.
Note that Debian stable does not provide GnuCash upgrades between releases so
if you want to keep current you should go with Debian testing. While it might
be tempting to try to just change the sources file and run apt update && apt
system-upgrade, I found several discussions like this one
https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/616907/how-to-upgrade-lubuntu-to-debian

 saying not to do that.

John Ralls

There is no output of both the commands, The screen of terminal looks like
::~$ flatpak remotes -d >fp-state
:~$ flatpak search gnucash >>fp-state
:~$
I am getting increasingly sure that i386 versions of flatpaks, which I have-
i.e.  "1.0.9-0ubuntu0.4" is limited to pulling Gnucash ver 3.7 at the maximum
from Flathub, not beyond that. Like last supported vercion of Gnucash on Win 7
is 3.11, last 32 bit version supported on Linux 32 bit is Ver. 3.7
Flatpak itself cannot be be upgaded to a newer version. Hence for Flatpak ver.
1.0.9 the last supported version of Gnucash could be  ver. 3.7.

Re: [GNC] Flathub does not install Gnucash ver. 4.10 flatpak, but only installs lower ver. 3.7

2022-04-25 Thread parag puranik via gnucash-user
The first Flathub release (for 32 bit OS) was not ver 3.11 ( it could be
earlier version), since I have installed ver. 3.7 on my 32 bit OS.
That said, my conclusion is : Flathub installs ver. 3.7 on 32 bit systems (that
could be last ver. offerred by Flathub for i386).
To get higher versions than 3.7, you have to look out providers other than
Flathub.
Can someone help me identify providers other than Flathub for a higher version
flatpak for i386 systems ?

Flatpak of ver, 3.11 ?

That doesn't seem likely since the first flatub release was 3.11.
https://discourse.flathub.org/t/install-an-older-version-of-an-app/320/3
explains how to get an older release from flathub and the commit history can be
found at https://github.com/gnucash/gnucash-on-flatpak. The hash for 3.11 is
c354cee.There are nightly builds going back to 3.4 at
https://code.gnucash.org/builds/flatpak/maint/.

Re: [GNC] Flathub does not install Gnucash ver. 4.10 flatpak, but only installs lower ver. 3.7

2022-04-24 Thread parag puranik via gnucash-user
What I did was as follows:sudo apt install flatpak
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:flatpak/stable
sudo apt update
sudo apt install flatpak
sudo apt install gnome-software-plugin-flatpakflatpak remote-add
--if-not-exists flathub https://flathub.org/repo/flathub.flatpakrepoRebooted
the machine
Then went to Flathub.org , then searched for Gnucash, then clicked Install
button to install GNUcash Flatpak.
The website showed version 4.10, but version 3.7 got installed.

Thanks for yourfeedback John.

(1) If the firstever version is 3.11 by Flathub, how the random version 3.7
gotinstalled ?

(2) Gone through thetwo links. However, being new to Linux (1 year) pulling
older releasefrom Flathub via CLI is beyond my capacity/skill level. Neither
can Ibuild the flatpak myself.

(3) Just like allhistorical versions of Gnucash (.exe) for Windows are
available onSourceforge, are there any archived Gnucash flatpaks for Linux ?

Actually I wanted to install Flatpak of version 3.11 first- (not going straight

Alternatively, what is the 'way to go' to install latest Flatpak ver. 3.11 ?
