Re: [GNC] GnuCash 4.10

No, I was on 4.9. I've managed to get back to 4.9 now with no problem getting
the GnuCash.exe to work. I tried looking at the registry and resetting .exe etc
to default settings. As soon as I try to upgrade to 4.10-1 I get the problem
that the exe file doesn't work. It looks like it's trying to do something for a
few seconds, then nothing...

Think I will wait for the next update to see if that works for me.

Thanks for your response - just wish I could do the Check and Repair on 4.10,
but that's a no go as I can't open GnuCash. Thanks for telling me to do thqt
qfter every update.

Richard

So you originally jumped from 3.11 to 4.10?

If 4.0 works, did you run Actions > Check & Repair > Check & Repair all after
the upgrade to 4.0? (you should do that after each major version jump)

What was your previously installed version - I know you said "from previous
version" but that is a little vague :-). If I remember correctly upgrading
from one of the versions took a little while to actually open a Gnucash
window first time in as it involved migrating preferences etc?

Re: [GNC] GnuCash 4.10

2022-05-08 Thread davidcousens49
Richard,

Just installed GnuCash 4.10 on my wife's Windows 11 laptop with no problems at
all using the msi installer from Sourceforge following the download link from
the GnuCash website. Starts, creates a new datafile and opens a copy of my
datafile from my Linux system without any problem.

It has to be something specific to your setup or a problem with the download.
Did you perhaps download the flatpak version and not have the flatpak setup.
It will help if you can provide us details of which version you downloaded and
from whay site.

No problem at all.

Maybe try downgrading to 4.9 to see if the issue persists or not to help
find where the problem is.

Re: [GNC] GnuCash 4.10

2022-05-08 Thread Gyle McCollam
Richard,
When you tried to update, did it tell you, you had to remove the old
installation of GnuCash? I know it does that before installing the new
version. Maybe there was an issue with the uninstall. I woould make sure you
have a backup, then try uninstalling the old version manually. After that try
installing again. This time there should be no uninstall attempted by GnuCash
and maybe it will install correctly. There is no logical reason why it
shouldn't work on Windows 11, as I said I have been using it since 4.10 came
out.

Thank You,

Sorry to hear you are having problems. I have been using 4.10 on Windows 11

Subject: [GNC] GnuCash 4.10

Have just updated from previous version to GnuCash 4.10 on Windows 11.

GnuCash now refuses to open (have tried from PowerShell too). I have tried
reinstalling but no change.

Any idea how I can rectify this issue?

Many thanks

2022-03-30 Thread William Prescott
For those who may have missed it, 4.10-1 had a number of issues on Macs. Our
friendly developers have fixed them. Make sure you get 4.10-3. It should be
working fine on Monterey and M1 chipped machines.

Helmut,

It isn't a matter of using securities on invoices.

The Security Editor is simply where you set the smallest fraction of a
currency. (and thus the number of digits displayed) John is proposing
tying that setting in to be used outside of securities, in this case for
invoices amounts. (so you only set it one place)

But that is a separate issue from Quantity. Chris is working on a
solution for both. (while researching your Quantity issue, I found the
same problem exists for Unit Prices, so they're getting tackled together)

Regards,
Adrien

Hello - I downloaded the latest version and unfortunately removed the previous
version (4.9) that I was using. When I try to open the application the
operation fails. Below is the information provided by my Mac.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I rely on Gnucash for keeping my
accounts. I love the program but not if it won?t work.

I have re-installed 4.9-1 in the meantime.

Thank you

2022-03-30 Thread john
If you got it from our SourceForge or Github downloads it's not hacked malware,
it's a re-release because there was a problem with the Tutorial and Concepts
Guide being only in Portuguese. If that's not something you care about then
there's no need to upgrade it.

Windows complains about our installers because they're not signed. They're not
signed because certificates are hard to get for anybody who isn't a
corporation. We're not, so we can't get one. We provide the sha-256 hashes, so
if you're concerned that a download is legitimate you can check that before
attempting to install. Incidentally, the "install anyway" button is hidden
behind the "more info" link in the "blocked software" dialog box.

John Ralls

Ronald,

There's an updated dmg for macOS (-3) - there were issues with the 2
previous releases for macOS so go back and download and install the (-3)
version for 4.10.

Cheers David H.

2022-03-30 Thread Ronald Boyd

Hello - I downloaded the latest version and unfortunately removed the previous
version (4.9) that I was using. When I try to open the application the
operation fails. Below is the information provided by my Mac.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I rely on Gnucash for keeping my
accounts. I love the program but not if it won’t work.

I have re-installed 4.9-1 in the meantime.

Thank you

Ronald Boyd

[GNC] GnuCash 4.10 Documentation and All-in-one Bundles

2022-03-28 Thread John Ralls
There was a problem with building the documentation caused by a bad merge of
the updated Portuguese translation of the Tutorial and Concept Guide, resulting
in the macOS and Windows all-in-one bundles to have only the Portuguese
translation.

There were also some Gtk bugs in the macOS bundle.

Consequently we have a re-release of the documentation as 4.10.1 and updated
bundles, gnucash-4.10-1.setup.exe and Gnucash-Intel-4.10-2.dmg. The sha-256
hashes are:
