Joao Inacio De Souza is not only alive but he is in better health than
before, at least that's how I found him when I visited him in last May.
When we talked about his romansi, he walked to a close by table, picked up
BHANGARACHEA PAKANCHEM SUKNNEM romans, written by Luis Jose Pinto,
presented it to me and said: “Hi romans portun xaplea; tuvem vachunk nam
zalear vach”. Although I had read the romans almost half a century ago, I
again read it on my way back to Saudi Arabia, and right now I have the
romans in front of me.

The accusation in question is to a posting made in October 2004. Given Joao
Inacio's age, anything could have happened to him in the interim period, but
thank God he is still very much alive as of writing this message. May he
live beyond 100 years!

His younger brother who ran the business, passed away early last year. I
paid my condolences to his wife and son (both were wearing black clothes)
and expressed shock over his death because I had met him only a few months
earlier when I had been to their place to collect sausages. His wife and
son now run the business.

Joao Inacio continues to live in Gaunsavaddo in the old house adjacent to
the new one which is separated by a narrow pathway which leads to the
sausage factory.

If you need any more information, go to Joao Inacio's house and get it
yourself. Next time, do your homework properly and get your facts right
before you falsely accuse and get involved in character assassination!

What a bull-shitter that Domnic is. Inacio is no longer alive my friend - I
know the whole family personally and he is not lying in his bed as you put
it. Can you tell me where this Old House of his is?? If you know it then I
might know you very well because like I said, I know the whole family
intimately.

It is true though that his brother is now running the business.

Domnic bab,

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I guess a lot of people go to Salcete to
collect sausages because saxtichim cheurisaum, gaiche mas misol asna.

Why do you go all the way from Baga to Salcete to buy Saxtichim cheurisam
when you can buy good cheurisam from JOAO INACIO in Mapusa, Bardez? BTW,
he is 92 years old and in bed now! Every time I am in Goa, I buy sausages
from his residence, pay a visit and say a hello to him in his old house.
His brother now runs the cheuris business.

Hello Joe,

Although, you do write wonderful articles, for which I really appreciate
your efforts, this particular topic is something I just can't comprehend.

You have been writing about the murdered priest for some time now, but
suddenly this article, made me wonder what the connection was.

I hope you know that today is the day all Christians celebrate the
resurrection of Our Lord Jesus, and you bringing out this topic today made
me wonder if you are out to crucify the clergy in general.

Cheers

Jerry Fernandes

So, what could it be ?? Can you figure it out ?

In absence of any genuine disclosures about the possible motive etc, one
can only
assume about the possibilities based on what is happening around, what
others (young
and old) saying about me etc

I enjoyed reading everyone's Easter reflections so I
thought I'd share my own, sans the bitter coffee
ofcourse :))

Being an agnostic is a very freeing experience. It's
also a painful process. It begins with a lot of
questions and ends with a certain amount of despair.
Along the way though, you do a lot of research hoping
to find something that leads you to God. The only
thing I've found with any amount of certainty so far,
is that God didn't create man in his image but man
created God in his.

The Jesus Christ I know was a rabble rouser. He so
detested orthodox Judaism that he was determined to
form a new religion. Among the things he hated about
it was its exclusivity. Which is why Paul and Peter
(the much underrated heros of Christianity), abolished
so many of the chains that bound Judaic followers.

For a man who abhored exclusivity, it's difficult to
attribute a religion that professes eternal damnation
to anyone who isn't part of it. When Jesus, (assuming
he ever did utter these words) said I am the way, the
truth and the life, could it not mean that he was
seriously saying to the Jews, you better change your
thought processes because continuing the way you are,
is not going to get you anywhere.

Anyway, I had a wonderful Easter with my family. It
was a dark, gloomy day, perfect for staying in, eating
Pulau and reflecting on the small joys of life.
Thoughts of crucifixions, executions, resurrections
were far from our minds. But spring, the renewal of
life and its eternal promise of better things to come
were close at hand.

Elisabeth

Your sentiments commenting on religions sure ring a bell!

Don't be intimidated by loud denunciations of your from-the-heart remarks!
This is normal modus operandii when no cogent response is forthcoming. It

Gender and sexism is all in your sexist mind! In those days and even now,

Staging Woes
Pragya Paramita

On 27th of this month, Shuktara Lal, a young theatre director of the
city is putting up yet another production. Nothing new in a city which
witnesses productions every other day, but what makes this stand out
is the attempt taken by the director to stage a production in English
written by an Indian playwright. Theatre, especially in English, has
long favoured American and European playwrights and names like Harold
Pinter, Tom Stoppard and Arthur Miller have become household names.
But with the staging of Currimbhoy's Goa, Lal hopes to bring into
focus the vast repertoire of Indian plays , written either by Indian
playwrights or translated by them.

Last week, a city bookstore witnessed a discussion aptly titled, 'Our
Plays, Our Stage', where some of the known faces of theatre spoke
about the problem. Katy Lai Roy, Sumon Mukhopadhyay and Vinay Sharma
along with Tathagata Chowdhury and Shuktara Lal were the panelists,
and delved into the psyche of the Indian directors to assert why plays
by Indian writers have always been relegated to the background. The
primary reason most agreed, was the lack of resources, be it in the
form of original plays or even translated works.

Girish Karnad's and Vijay Tendulkar's plays have been staged, but
except for a few like Mahesh Dattani, where are the fresh talents?
asked Sumon Mukhopadhyay. The main reason for the lack of new talents
is because of the chances of failure. After all even Asif Currimbhoy
had to face dejection and died a bitter man.

While there was no disagreement about the richness of regional plays,
yet in most cases directors, for lack of good translation, ignore
them. An interesting element that emerged from the discussion was that
way back in the early '90s when English plays were a rarity in
Kolkata, a few people took it upon themselves to translate other
regional plays in English. In fact, it was this demand for good
translated works which led to the formation of Seagull Bookstore,
which has now become the meeting ground for theatre directors. But
it's not just the lack of good material, which puts off directors, but
also the question of copyright. It is much easier to stage a Miller or
a Shakespeare, as there is no question of being sued by them or paying
any royalties, something that is not easily available in the case of
local plays.

But the most interesting fact that emerged from the discussion was
that with the preoccupation with Euro-American-centric plays, Indian
productions were losing out on other plays of cultures a lot similar
to our own, like Latin American, African and closer home, South East
Asian.

The veterans did agree that during their time, in spite of the
unavailability of English plays, they were privileged enough to have
seen the works of some of the greatest regional directors like Utpal
Dutta and Badal Sirkar. You cannot go to them and ask them if you can
translate their works. I think it is privilege enough to watch them,
said Kati Roy.

As all regular Goanetters know quite well Gabe is a
 good and decent human being.

Then Francis Rodrigues, aka Gary Rodrigues chimed
in:

There is much I wished to discuss/debate/contribute
on this forum (issues which would perhaps have been
of interest to some Goanetters), from over 4
 decades of globe-trotting.

I have been hindered by the prolific and negative
combat of a particular netter, who continues to
flame us privately. I ignore him there too, because
 I am an implacable foe.

In all of this, Gabe Menezes has been a voice of
reason and sanity on Goanet, whose contributions
continue to inspire and encourage, that there is
still hope yet for this particular forum ! I can
only wish his detractor the consolation of the
resurrection at this Eastertime, for as far as I
 am concerned, Aluta continua !

Mario responds:

Francis/Gary, whoever,

Happy Easter to you and your family, which may or may
not include people with names like Gary and Raoul,
whose connections with you and your posts are still a
mystery yet to be unravelled.

Why are you and your cabal, which apparently includes
Gabe and Santosh, so afraid to mention my name, using
euphemisms like this guy, particular netter, etc.?

Isn't there a contradiction between your claim of
being an implacable foe, and yet being hindered
simply by my robust verbal opinions on Goanet? What
exactly are you afraid of, other than that I may
disagree with you from time to time?

Now let's remind Goanetters of some of your recent
less than brilliant contributions to this forum, shall
we?

First, on March 22, you posted a vicious comment that
got past the eagle eyed Goanet moderators, titled
Goanet] Mindless Bashing: re Portuguese Passports,
which was as follows:

'In alio pediculum, in te ricinum non vides !'

Question: Have you ever considered a brain -
transplant ?

'Argumentam ad ignorantiam !'

 (end of Francis/Gary comment)

You were responding here to my response to a comment
by your decent human being, voice of reason, Gabe
Menezes, who had intruded into a discussion about
Portuguese passports where Gabriel de Figueredo had
asked me if I could be called a brown American.
Gabe's decent human being, voice of reason addition
to Gabriel's question was, May I also add, or if
someone called Goveia a third class American, as he
can never aspire for the top post of President of the
USA, having not been born in the USA.

To this I had observed that Gabe could similarly be
called a third class citizen of the UK, because he was
subject to deportation if caught inciting the
Islamo-fascists he apparently supports to violence,
and he also could never be head-of-state in the UK
as Queen Elizabeth was not his mother.

Your contribution to this exchange included no
rational comments, only the suggestion that I get a
brain transplant. Not very clever.

Next, on March 29, you posted a vicious verbal attack
titled [Goanet] Mario Gouveia: The nuisance value of
a pod, in which you used as your basis a blatant
falsehood that I had once posted 70 times on Goanet in
a few hours, a falsehood initially posted by the same
decent human being, voice of reason, Gabe Menezes,
whose reputation you and Santosh are defending above.
In that post you also called my comments about my
hometown, Jabalpur, appalling.

When I asked you to provide some evidence that I had
made the 70 posts, and to specify exactly what about
my comments about Jabalpur you found appalling, there
was no response from you. Not very clever.

Next on April 11, in a post titled [Goanet] RE: Goan
Independence Party, your not very brilliant nor very
intelligent support of some derisive and insulting
comments about me by Marlon Menezes was:

Awesome, man, s-w-e-e-t ! Right on, dude !

In the absence of any rational facts or opinions, not
very clever.

On the same day, in a post titled, [Goanet] Yahoo!
News Story - New Metro affords a glimpse of a possible
India - Yahoo! News you referred to me as Mario
Guava, which was the same childish attempt at ridicule
that you had copied from Marlon Menezes in his post

What does the Navy earn from Dabolim? The short answer is-Nothing.
The Navy is not some private company from the private sector. It is
an integral part of the Ministry of Defence, which, in turn, is a part
of the Govt. of India. The Airports Authority of India, which
operates the airport civil part, is a part of the Ministry of Civil
Aviation, which is another arm of the Govt. of India. It therefore
follows that whether the earnings are from the Navy or the AAI, all
revenue from Dabolim is revenue for the Govt. of India. This is the
same in all airports in India.
The Navys budget for salaries, equipment, etc , has nothing to do with
Dabolim, but comes from the central allocation to the Defence budget.

Anybody have any dope on Dabolim's financials? Is it a loss-making airport
or a money maker? What does the Navy earn annually from its operation? Who
pays for capex such as runway upgrades etc (if any)? Unfortunately the
article above is tantalisingly uninformative on these counts!

Broadband access is growing in Goa. When it works, it works fine.
Sometimes it doesn't.

Before you start wondering what's wrong, check by a process of
elimination. Don't start changing your computer's setting. The problem
could be elsewhere

This evening, after my young techie friend Derek Cordeiro came over to
help with rsyncing (copying) files from the desktop to a laptop, the
internet suddenly became very slow. That was after his departure, and it
left me to wonder whether any settings had been changed

Needed to get some files across urgently, and it was too late to phone
anyone. Anway, a call to 197 (general telecom enquiries, they've left us
without a phone directory for four years!) saw me being redirected to
1957 (internet help desk).

Was anything the problem, I asked.

He, in turn, asked me if the D-Link ADSL router's lights were blinking.
Yes, I said. Power, ADSL and ethernet were steady, while the status
light kept blinking. And I mentioned that even pings to www.google.es
(supposedly a fast site) were not working.

After a moment or two later, and a please-hold-on, the pings started
going through speedily, even as the person on the other end asked me
some further queries. Something reset somewhere?

Moral of the story: next time the interent doesn't
work, please ring 1957 and check if there's a problem
at there end. We all could get a more efficient service
if we are more prompt at bringing faults to the notice
of those looking after them. Thanks! FN

COMEDIAN JESUS ANTAO.

One of the stalwarts of Konkani stage who is creating ripples all around
Konkani world by depicting wonderful comedy on Konkani Stage is Jesus Antao
who is currently in Kuwait to take part in the Tiatro “Arxeant Hanslo
Arxeant Roddlo” on 21st Aprill 2006 written and directed by Salu Faleiro.
Since he is in Kuwait I had an opportunity to talk to him directly and pen
down here my observation on him. His full name is Jose Jesus Antao born and
brought up in Chinchinnim Goa. He started acting in Tiatros while in school
only at St. Bosco High School in his locality. He first acted in Geoge
Fernandes of Raia’s Tiatro “Dusman” which was according to Jesus a hit in
Goa during that time somewhere around 25 years back. From here he was
picked up by Menino de Bandar for his record breaking show “Succorrine”
which was staged for 240 times in and outside Goa. While acting in
Soccorrine, Jesus Antao’s fame went far and wide and immediately he was
offered comedy roles in his Plays by the late Goan Shakesphere Dr. Rosario
Rodrigues. Then he acted in other directors’ dramas namely A.M. Pacheco,
Rose Ferns, Mike Mehta, Vitorino Pereira, Mario Menezes, Pascoal Rodrigues,
Rosario Dias, Jr. Nelson, Christopher Leitao and Maxy Pereira.

As a tiatrist performing comedy roles Jesus Antao travelled many parts of
India and Gulf namely Pune, Bombay, Mangalore, Orissa, Nagpur, Karwar,
Ratnagiri, Malwan, Qatar, Muscat, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain and Kuwait.

Besides acting in Tiatros, comedian Jesus Antao has produced 5 Audio Albums
namely “Aum MP”, “Sagvad”, “Repeat Repeat”, “Money Order” and “Holiday”.
These Albums comprised Songs and Jokes. Additionally, he has also produced
2 VCD’s, one “Axirvad” and the other “Bhudvont Jak Inas”.

Because of his excellence in performing comedy roles, he was awarded by Kala
Academy once and honoured and felicitated by number of organizations in Goa
and in the Gulf too.

While Jesus Antao was on peak of his form, on 15th February 1990 he met with
a serious road accident while returning from late night show at Ponda. In
this accident he suffered severe head injuries and multiple fractures to the
leg and collarbone. For 38 days he was lying in comma at GMC from where he
was then shiftwed to Jaslok hospital in Bombay and finally with the grace of
God his life was saved. For this recovery he praises God and thanks all his
well wishers for their prayers.

My Easter Sunday started on a bright smiley note with Hazelnut Belgian coffee.
Not that bitter coffee that Goan men have as per our hutton.:=)) After
that bright spot, I went to church and celebrated the greatest feast in the
Roman Catholic calendar.

But even on Easter Sunday, like any other Sunday, my routine followed. It was
a quick review of the Sunday newspaper followed by a browse of the cyber Goan
posts. Then the honey-do list of chores. For this Sunday it's painting the
pillars in the balcao on this bright warm spring day.

Not surprisingly the cyber Goan posts has the usual controversies from the
extreme right and extreme left. Knowing the authors, most Goenkars - Hindu and
Catholic have learnt to give the B B treatment to the sodanchem ayatollahs.
My own reaction was let these two guys stew in their own juices and fatwas.

After two hours of work, Easter meal will be with our ever-so-broadminded Goan
Hindu friends (convent educated), where there will be families of all religions
including Parsees. This is our extended family in the Indian Diaspora. Later
this evening, we will make our way to a dance at Syracuse, sponsored by USABDA
- United States Amateur Ballroom Dancing Association.

Happy Easter to All!
May the Easter Bunny bring you all many new eggs and new beginnings for the
rest of the Catholic calendar which starts today.

Kind Regards, GL

- Santosh,
I think that whatever religion one follows...and they usually
espouse belief in some divine entity and a sense of ethics (which most
atheist have too )... it`s the the excessive zeal to prosletyze others
to one`s own religous beliefs, sometimes bordering on fanaticism that is
the irritant leading to intolerance and hatred.
Many of our own goans are intolerant in their own subtle way when they
tend to look down , however patronisingly, on some communities that have
different cultures or traditions.
Thats my brief thought. Considering the various sects among
Christians, and differences of belief in dogmas, tradition between
them..it is very difficult to give asuccint and brief
statement on What do Chritians believe ?

Dear Cyber Gaonkars,

The Goa Vipassana Samiti (GVS) is organising a 10-day meditation
course from the 20-31 May 2006, at Dhammalaya, a full-fledged
and well appointed Vipassana Meditation centre in nearby
Kolhapur.

Public bus transport to and from Kolhapur will be organised by
GVS from Panjim and Mapusa.  While the course itself is totally
free, participants are expected to meet travel costs.

Vipassana is a simple practice to maintain regular mental
hygiene, by cleaning out the stress and tension, toxins and
garbage that is daily generated in ones mind.  This practical,
purifying technique is also totally rational, scientific and
secular.  It is not part of any organised religion or sect and
can be practised by people of all faiths and backgrounds.

Application forms and other details are available at:

- Celwyn Electricals, near O Coqueiro Circle in Porvorim.
- Siddharth Traders, near Farmacia Joao Menezes in Mapusa.
- Varsha Bookstall in Panjim.
- Bookmark Bookstore, near Metropole in Margao.
- Jetset Hotels Office, 5th floor, Commerce Centre, Dr. Ragendra
Prasad Road in Vasco.
- Hotel Padmavi in Ponda.
- Mrs. Blanche Saldanha, Sonarbhatt. Tel: 2278276.

Since seats are limited, applicants will be chosen on a first
come first served basis.

Goa has quite a few Vipassana meditators with regular
group-sittings at different places. There is a 1-day course
conducted by an Asst. Teacher every first Sunday, at Apurbai
Clinic, S1-101, Nova Cidade, Alto Porvorim, from 9.30 am to 4-30
pm.

Curriculum Vitae

Name: GOD

Address: Ephesians 1:20

Phone: Romans 10:13

Website: Bible

Keywords: GOOD

My name is God. They removed one 'O' from the word GOOD to give me my name.
(This, just incase my name sounds odd). Many call me 'Lord'. I 'm sending you
my CV because I'm seeking the top management position in your heart as I am
feeling the heat of unemployment in these recent times. Will appreciate if you
should offer me the position so I can make do.

Qualifications

I founded the earth and established the heavens. Now they want to destroy what
I founded and everyone wants to go to heaven. But they have appalling road
sense and usually take the wrong bend and reach hell, instead. In Heaven,
where I held the job of the manager for as long as I can remember, the
occupancy has dropped so low that I have to look for an alternate job.

I formed man from the dust of the ground. If anyone tried it again, the result
will be toxins, garbage, plastics and what have you with no essential
minerals that requires to go in a human body. Those were the good old days.

I breathed into man the breath of life. If anyone tried it again, the breath
would be full of drugs, liquor, chemicals including a terrible foul smell of
nicotine that the body with the new found life would fall flat on its face
immediately after taking a few steps.

I redeemed man from the curse of the law. That was ages ago. Now man makes his
own laws and takes these to his bed to go to sleep with in comfort.

The blessings of the Abrahamic Covenant used to come upon man's life through
me. Again that was in the distant past. Now a days the blessings rain from
Hitler type ideals which have devastated the minds of people who call
themselves RSS, who put a rope round the man's neck they call God, drag him
and hang him in a place called a RAM TEMPLE and then freak out at his death
throes while the hanging one refuses to die.

 Background

I've only had one employer and one job. I was never tardy, absent,
disobedient, slothful or disrespectful. My employer had nothing but rave
reviews for me. If you should employ me to get me out of my predicament, I
wonder if I will last for long in that job if I follow my past. That is why I
have been taking tuitions to learn how to cheat, defame, transfer the
employer's company and properties to my name and how to throw him into the
river over a bridge or burn him alive amongst festival fire-crackers packed
in his car and claim that it was a sorry accident.

Skills and Work Experiences

Some of my past skills and work experiences include: empowering the poor to be
poor no more, healing the brokenhearted, setting the captives free, healing
the sick, restoring sight to the blind and setting at liberty them that are
bruised. However I have tried hard to forget all these things of the good
past to practice exactly the opposite of what I used to preach before. I have
learnt the tricks to make the poor miserably poor, poison the broken hearted,
keep the innocent captives on trumped-up charges, set the criminals free.
Bury the sick, blind the seeing, and amputate those that are bruised before
they are set free.

I was a wonderful counselor. People who listened to me would dwell safely and
would not fear the evil. Most importantly, I used to have authority, ability
and power to cleanse anyone of their sins. In time, I realized that this is a
perfect path for a involuntary suicide. I have now excelled as a counselor who
sends people jumping off bridges, make them shoot themselves or to drink rat
poison, immediately after a well paid session with me. I put the fear of
Myself (God) into them that most of them die in a road accident before
reaching home and even if they did, they will spend their nights traumatized
that some evil has happened to them. I have now re-validated my
qualifications to become authoritarian from being merely the authority,
totally useless as against being very able, and I have graduated in Master's
degree in Power laundry to clean all types of clothing as against my old trade
of cleansing people of their sins. Educational

Background

I used to encompass the entire breadth and length of knowledge, wisdom and
understanding, In me were hidden all of the treasures of wisdom and
knowledge, (See Colossians 2:3). My Word was so powerful; it was described as
being a lamp unto your feet and a lamp unto your path, (See Psalms 119:105). I
could even tell you

Do you believe that we would be nothing if we had gifts of the Spirit, great
faith and knowledge, but did not have love? Absolutely nothing! What does that
mean? It means that no matter what we do for the Lord, if it isn't done in
love, then we've wasted our time. That's something to consider!

What is love? How do we really love? Well, God is love (I John 4:8). And how
did God show His ultimate love? Through Jesus Christ, and His sacrifice on the
cross. In fact, Jesus said that no one has greater love than to lay down one's
life for his friends. You might be thinking, “When will I be offered the
chance to sacrifice my life to save someone else's?” But, that's only
considering the most extreme scenario! Would you or I go out of our way for
someone purely out of love? I mean, really inconvenience ourselves on someone
else's behalf. Consistently, without thought given to repayment--or even
a “thank you” required?

What a time to focus on love. What a time to focus on Christ! I hope you and
your dear family have a blessed Resurrection Sunday. I hope and pray that all
of us who lay claim to Christ's promise of salvation will find ourselves
renewed and brimming with LOVE for everyone around us. I'll leave you with
these words from The Master:

Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law? Jesus replied: 'Love
the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your
mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like
it: 'Love your neighbour as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on
these two commandments. - Matthew 22:36-40

I pray that this Easter shall be one filled with love, joy, happiness and
spiritual rebirth to each one of us. May you find peace and assurance in the
Eternal Love, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Wishing all the GOANETTERS a Blessed Easter!

Celebrating diversity

KONKAN FRUIT FEST

The KONKAN FRUIT FEST has been held in Panaji city on the traditional first
weekend of May for the three consecutive years. It is now time for an encore.
It gives one immense satisfaction to see Government agencies, non-government
organizations [NGOs], enterprising fruit growers, traders and processors,
entrepreneurs and the common citizens working in tandem to promote the fruit
crops, their cultivation, processing and marketing along with the technologies
to do so scientifically and profitably.

The KONKAN FRUIT FEST has gone beyond just mangoes, the pride of the Konkan.
It has on display the lesser known fruits like the Central American Zapota
that we call chikoo, the Brazilian Cashew that we call Caju, the Peruvian
Guava that we rightly call Peru, the Indonesian Java Plum or jamun and India's
very own Garcinia or Bhirand/Kokum. Citrus fruits like Pumelo and Sweet limes
that remind one of Spain and Japan as well as exotic mangosteens and
rambutans, jacks and lakoocha are also there on display.

The Corporation of the City of Panaji has continued as the Festival Partner
since the inception of the KONKAN FRUIT FEST. In fact, the idea of the Konkan
Fruit Fest came from Ashok Mogu Naik, the former Chairman of the erstwhile
Panjim Municipal Council and grew with the interaction with Dr.Ajit Shirodkar
of the Western Ghats Kokum Foundation and our very own Dr. Heman Y.Karapurkar.
As one officer in the Directorate of Agriculture aptly put it, Nothing is
impossible for Dr. Karapurkar. Not for nothing did his father not cross
the 't' but named him 'He Man' ! The KONKAN FRUIT FEST was started under the
chairmanship of Dr. Karapurkar, Chairman of the Biodiversity Board, Goa.

In the very first year, the Directorate of Agriculture-Goa and its network
of Zonal Agriculture Offices used their extensive farmer contact to boost the
competition segment, which is the mainstay of the KONKAN FRUIT FEST. Mr. Waman
M. Khade was then the Director of Agriculture. Each of the ten Zonal
Agricultural Offices brought in entries from farmers and provided logistical
support. There was no 'Yours' and 'Mine' involved. All organizations worked in
tandem. It was a TEAM effort with a TEAM spirit: Together Everyone Achieves
More!! The participation level is expected to reach a similar level before the
current Director, Mr. Ramesh G.Joshi, demits office.

The Indian Council for Agricultural Research[ICAR]-Goa Research Centre, Old
Goa, has been a pillar of the KONKAN FRUIT FEST since inception. Dr.
V.S.Korikantimath has always considered the KONKAN FRUIT FEST to be a home
event for ICAR. It has involved Agriculture Universities from the neighbouring
states of Karnataka and Maharashtra, too.

The Regional Fruit Research Station-Vengurla of the Dr.B.S.Konkan Krishi
Vidyapeet-Dapoli has been another pillar of the event. Mahatma Phule Krishi
Vidaypeet, Rahuri, which has one of the oldest Agriculture Colleges [at Pune]
under its wing, has participated for the first time in 2005. The University of
Agricultural Sciences [UAS], Bangalore, joined the University of Agricultural
Sciences-Dharwar in participating at the festival last year. The Indian
Institute for Horticultural Research[IIHR] Bangalore also came back after a
one year gap. The Department of Science and Technology has been actively
involved with the Konkan Fruit Fest from its inception.

This festival is presented jointly by the Government Agencies, academic
institutions, NGOs and entrepreneurs from all over the Konkan region. The
Botanical Society of Goa is the facilitator for the event. It is done with the
sole purpose of promoting fruits and fruit products of the Konkan so that
people continue to cultivate these fruit crops, develop the orchards and
achieve a sustainable development paradigm that is complementary to the needs
of the growing tourism industry and local environmental needs. It seeks to
promote post harvest technology to bring about grading, standardization and
also processing of the fruits for sale during off-season as juices, pulp,
jams, slices, pickle, wines. Such activities are bound to increase the value
of the fruit and the income realization by the producer. It will also generate
additional employment.

Fruit products have many uses, specially in a major tourist destination like
the Konkan and Goa famed for the beaches and natural beauty of its tree-
covered hills and valleys. The spice villages have

Sogott mojea Goenkar bhavank khuxealborit Paskanchi Porob!
(Happy Easter to all my goan friends)

Thanks to Joe and Goanet Admin for giving us this message
of Easter Day.

I would request Joe to personally hand over the case to CBI
.since you have personally taken so much interest in solving the case...and
' 'character assassination' of Fr. Eusebio in all your posts including '
The Games'

Pls send a copy to the Archbishop in Panjim with all your complaints
regarding the priests.

Further give your evidence to the DIG, as holding back evidence
is also criminal act.

Dear Nasci and Dear All,

I was hoping to merely send you all - Good Wishes for Easter from here. And
that, I will and do.

However, it would be quite remiss of me IF I did not publicly condemn
Nasci's view as expressed above.

What a horrible thing to even think, let alone write.

Please publicly withdraw those remarks, Nasci.

They are horrible.

Once again -The best of wishes for Easter.

PS: Apologies IF I do not participate in a private discussion on this
matter. I do not support these SIDE-WHEELS DISCUSSIONS.

Yes Nasci, please do.

Why this penchant for crypto-theology?

Please, ungoaded, enflesh your enigmatic declamation
en publico and do enlighten the masses, hindu/muslim non-
alike

Do help set aright all that is awry in these misguided faiths before
Santosh et al land, in loco perpetuo, in some non-redeemable hell.

In the august paschal spirit let us endeavour to carry them along with us
to up there...

Travel boom flies past some airports
G GANAPATHY SUBRAMANIAM

TIMES NEWS NETWORK[ SATURDAY, APRIL 15, 2006 12:55:46 AM]

NEW DELHI: NEW DELHI: What is common between Jaipur, Srinagar, Khajuraho,
Agra, Port Blair, Jaisalmer, Varanasi and Agatti?

Though they are all tourist hotspots, the airports they house are in the
red. It may sound ironic, especially if you consider the boom in travel
during the past couple of years, but the airports at these destinations do
not make a single penny by way of profits.

What's worse, the civil aviation ministry feels there isn't much scope to
turn these facilities profitable unless passenger traffic grows in a big
way.

Virtually all airports linking key tourist destinations of the country are
making losses and the trend covers every part of the country: From Bagdogra
in the East, which is the gateway to Darjeeling and Sikkim; to Jaisalmer in
the West; and Srinagar up North to Port Blair down South.

Red ink also dogs the balance sheets of airports that serve popular
destinations like Tirupati and Jammu, which are thronged by lakhs of
pilgrims.

According to data collated by the ministry, the Varanasi airport lost Rs
14.5 crore during '04-05. Lakhs of tourists, both domestic as well as
foreign, visit the holy city every year and the Varanasi airport even had
flights connecting Kathmandu, apart from domestic destinations like Delhi
and Kolkata, till recently.

The airport located at the city of Taj, Agra, lost Rs 4.6 crore during the
year. Jaipur, the other point linking the tourist triangle anchored by
Delhi, fared far worse with losses of Rs 12.7 crore. The airports at Kullu,
Dehradun and Kangra are also in the red.

Apart from tourist destinations, a number of airports located at state
capitals are also in red. The Patna airport lost nearly Rs 11.9 crore in '
04-05, while the Bhopal airport lost Rs 8.8 crore. In any case, 116 of the
126 airports managed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) make losses.

The Guwahati airport, the gateway to the North-East, is among the list of
non-profitable airports with losses of Rs 51 crore, followed by Bhubaneshwar
with Rs 14.7 crore, Lucknow (Rs 10.8 crore), Thiruvananthapuram (Rs 4.3
crore), Chandigarh (Rs 2.7 crore) Shimla (Rs 2.6 crore) and Ahmedabad (Rs
1.9 crore).

The ministry cites 'very low traffic' as the reason for consistent losses at
these airports. The current feeling is that it was 'very difficult' to
convert these facilities into profit-making airports. Efforts are now on to
cut expenditure at these airports so that losses can at least be curbed.

The Safdarjung airport at Delhi, where all flying activity has been banned
due to security reasons, lost Rs 7 crore during '04-05. The flight training
school located there has been grounded functional as the airport is located
near key installations like Parliament, President's Estate and the Prime
Minister's residence.

The airport at Gaya made losses of Rs 6.4 crore, even though it is a key
pilgrimage destination for Buddhists while the Khajuraho airport lost Rs 6.7
crore in '04-05. The Port Blair airport, which is the gateway to the Andaman
Nicobar islands, lost Rs 3.5 crore during the year, while the Jammu
airport made a loss of Rs 5.5 crore.

The Nagpur airport, that is now being converted into a cargo hub, lost Rs 29
crore during '04-05. The Agatti airport, which serves the Lakshadweep
islands, made losses to the tune of Rs 13 crore.

The 116 loss-making airports of AAI are sustained through the earnings to 10
profitable airports, which include Delhi and Mumbai that are being shifted
to private managements now. Some of the loss-making facilities are civilian
enclaves run by AAI at defence airports.

Among the major losers are Allahabad (Rs 16.1 crore loss during '04-05),
Belgaum (Rs 15.8 crore), Silchar (Rs 14.9 crore), Hubli (Rs 13 crore),
Agartala (Rs 8.4 crore) Amritsar (Rs 7.5 crore), Mangalore (Rs 6.3 crore),
Dibrugarh (Rs 4.1 crore), Udaipur (Rs 4 crore), Raipur (Rs 3.6 crore) and
Visakapatnam (Rs 2.7 crore).

The ministry is looking at modernisation of many of these airports by AAI
under its policy for non-metro airports

Anybody have any dope on Dabolim's financials? Is it a loss-making airport
or a money maker? What does the Navy earn annually from its operation? Who
pays for capex such as runway upgrades etc (if any)? Unfortunately the
article above is tantalisingly uninformative on these counts!

What is my 'Oprad'?

Well, my writings may have implied a sort of 'character assassination' of the
person
who is no longer in this world. For this I am really really 'Sorry'. It really
does
not look very nice but it was really wasn't like that.

All the speculations were purely based on the news paper reports and all the
photos
were taken from Goan dailies which I get here.

As I said, it was not really about the deceased, but the others existing ones.

We hear so many things and I know some of it may not be TRUE. But what if all or
some of it is true ? After all, it is said 'there can be no smoke without the
fire'.

Some of us will never take anything against such persons because they think 'it
can
never happen' and if one day, it comes out to be true, the very same people
will now
say 'so what ? aren't they human beings like us ?'

I like to say to them, yes we all are human beings but some give up or make a
vow to
God before joining the order that certain things will NOT be the part of their
life
from now.

Despite of the Vow etc, some still practise a normal man's life like sex etc

If that's what they really want, I am sure they can leave the order any time and
live a normal man's life (Some already done so e.g. Betalbatim and recent being
one
from Goa-Velha Church).

Once they come out from the order, then no one will say any thing about them
even if
some one sees them in a Q at a cinema theatre for the film 'JISM' or 'PRETTY
WOMAN'

As you all know, I had aready stopped on this saying 'LET US FORGIVE THEM ALL'
but some people provoked me on an open dicussion forum.
'TEMI MOJEA NAKAK DORLEM AND MOJEM TOND UGTTEM ZALEM'

Once again I say 'Sorry' to all of you who may have got offended.

So, how many negative comments I recieved so far ?
Apart from the open forum, I received just two (including the one- someone put
under
the recent photo/page). Visit the photo link sent earlier and you can read it
too.
Remember, I could easily delete it, the moment it was posted).

However, I also received more of neutral +ve comments.

One Question: Seeing my posts of all sorts for all these years etc, did it ever
occur to you why I must be doing this where no one dares not to ??

Please think about it.

If you have already figured it out, please keep it with you only.
