[Goanet] Re: Raul Carneiro, the late Carmo Dias & Churchill Alemao
Ralph, It was not my intention to portray Churchill as The best politician but just a good side of this person. all have 2 or more sides. it was only the good side of this man known to many goans. I have never met him though nor got any personal favours. I did mention about Narvenkar too.. I felt the gratitude of the late carmo's family to the man who helped bring back the remains from distant land 'cayman islands'. could anyone else (politician) help ? can you imagine the sorrow of late carmo's mother at the death of this young lad, and not even having to see him for last time ? can you feel the gratitude of this woman to anyone who helped in this case ? from her point of view - thanks, my son lies in goan soil. god bless his soul. we can view it differently why a particular person helped someone cross the road. some may say it was just show off, others may view it as pure help, while still others will say it was long term political benefit... what options do people have at the time of voting ? even if good persons are voted, they get along the rotten mangoes and get same thing done to themselves. also i admit, no one person can be liked by all the people. even M. Gandhi the father of the nation could not escape the anger of few. i remember a story, a man said if i had the power of god, i would change a whole lot of things. he said what is this god made a huge banyan/oak tree with small fruit and see the pumkin plant, just a lke a creeper with huge pumkins on it. he was sitting under this huge tree when suddenly a small nut fall on his head, he than realised what would have happened if a pumkin size fruit had fallen on his head from this big tree. he than said if i had gods power i would leave the world as it is, because god knows what is best. tell me what can i or you do ? write and inform people ? !! not vote ? join Laden ? I am also told a lot of bad things about churchill, like that he used the unemployed men to get his work done, that he smuggled goods, that he used the morchas for his political gains, that hotels in the south coastal belts were harassed, etc etc... we hear a lot..about all the politicians. did you not hear about narvenkar and cricket, did you not hear about rane and his son in EDC, did you not hear that parikar got most brahmins in top govt. posts, did you not hear monseratee and money lending, did you not hear about ravi naik and land conversions ? did you hear what luizin did for himself and not to othres ? did you not hear the Ambani used to get discarded things from gulf, western countries and sell to indian govt in the 1970s. ?? see what he achieved for reliance co.. who is good or goodest ? you and me and others around us or george bush or ahmednijad ? When we have to select between deep sea and devil, we have to and will choose in most cases the lesser evil and sometimes necessary evils too. my sympathies with those at the receiving end. and sorry i dont view him as catholic strongmen. he is just a normal chap, who rose to limelight with whatever good or not so good means he could get. from his brothers point of view , how many brothers do what churchil did for his brothers ? . from the goan public point of view, it is two sided. which side will weight more, i really dont know ? - if i or you were god, what things would i or you have changed ? or would we leave it as it is today ? I hope i have tried to clarify my position and not aggravate it. Regards, raul carneiro From: ralph rau I have never had the pleasure of meeting the larger than life Mr. Alemao. Being a lifetime politician from South Goa what he does not know in his neck of the woods, is usually not worth knowing. So I assume he may also know why the Taj Exotica has always had its road signage torn down and by whom. He may probably know who goes around the South Goa hotels like the Club Mahindra at Varca collecting hafta. And why the Dominoes Pizza man is afraid to enter the area for fear that his legs might be broken ? I ask Goans why they vote for people like Churchill and Monsaratte. The stock reply is "They may not be good people, but at least they are Catholic". [Goanet] re:Getting expertise... on rats (also need help on house Lizards)
It may sound strange but try it and only then comment on it or get back to me. Make a small hole (little bigger than thumb size) on hen's egg- and stick the empty shell (even half shell is ok) on a wall. in all the rooms for some days. You have to do it if you want to get rid of them. drill a nail in the wall and put the egg shell in it. please try it. one trick at a time .. you will not need more tips on above . In case of cockroach problem, Sprays are not so effective. for cockroaches - there is a paste called 'combat' . this is like tooth paste just apply a little on walls (no need to spread, similar to just as we apply toothpast on tooth brush) at corner etc.. at night.. behind cupboards etc.. each room about 4 to 5 places is good enough. it cost about Rs. 400/- . each pack is enough for nearly 10 families. The result is guaranted . regards, raul carneiro love & happiness always _ Do not post admin requests to the list. Goanet mailing list (Goanet@goanet.org)
[Goanet] BUDDING STARS & UCU's ONE ACT PLAY
On 12th May 2006, I had a good opportunity to attend a one act play in konkani held at Hawally, Kuwait. Being an expat and waiting for an opportunity to watch Konkani drama I did not a miss chance to mingle with fellow goans. More than the actual performances on the stage which was quite good, I was moved (any one would) by the positive attitude and a fantastic approach of United Club of Utorda (UCU) , who dared to conducted such entertaining show annually since 2002 on their own. I feel there's something special and unique about this group so far, and having no hidden agenda. I got to speak to one of the member of this group and realized that they are doing this out of their love and common goal of promoting and encouraging not only upcoming Konkani theatre artists but also to the one who have desire to act or sing but lack opportunities. They do this work not with any motive of profit at all. The group with their efforts provide us , spectators a opportunity to view drama at a very reasonable charge Ticket of KD 2.500 . At the same time artists/participants are given prizes as incentive. Thanks to their generous sponsors and well wishers. Besides this the other expenses of hall, music, lights, stage set up, transportation etc are meted out from the sale of tickets. Not only this, they go a step ahead. If at all they make any profit , then the proceed of this show is donated to needy in the village of Utorda. So far they have helped some poor students to meet their educational expenses etc. Their accounting record is as clear as crystal. I understand that they do not even have refreshments for themselves out of this profit etc. . . Providing alternative choices and opportunity free of cost to Konkani lovers specially Goans who wish to carry forward the age old entertainment forward is a great service to Goa and its people. UCU is doing its part in encouraging both youngsters and new entrants to express and polish their talents. It's kind of rain in the desert experience. I wish all the best not only to UCU but also to those who wish to serve the goan and Konkani lovers community without any selfish motive. We find very few people who are so devoted to such a cause and who even spend money from their own pockets to see this movement continues. Mind you some of this persons may not be doing so well financially but still they make sacrifices both in terms of time and money. May god bless the members of this club and may they continue this generous work in future as now no profit motive or motive of fame. Dev Bore Korum .. [Goanet] Re: Family of late CARMO DIAS thank Churchill Alemao
Let me say am apolitical in writing this comments. Good side of churchill alemao. Churchill Alemao have helped many individual/ families before too in different circumstances. He is fondly remembered my many not only for his generosity but also for being very kind and approachable man. I heard many good and great things about this man. I sincerely hope in our small state of goa, peoples representatives & other influencial persons will help families in need like these. I remember Dayanand Narvekar had helped through his influence in tracing and reuniting a Tivim girl who was kidnapped and held under house arrest in Kholapur. I am not saying these are perfect persons but these are some goods things they did without direct benefit. Churchill have encouraged the youth in various activities by his own personal initiative. It's a different story how churchill fared on other issues like konkan railway, konkani agitation as successful mass leader etc etc. but amoung the available leaders who can be approached for help, the first name that comes to mind is CHURCHILL ALEMAO. He is one hope ... people can contiue to have. he has helped many people even from other assembly consituency. I am sure it does not interest him which part of goa you belong to (north or south) if you approach him for help. if possible he will help. sometimes its mutuallly beneficial but the benefit to people is much higher. May carmo's family be blessed. May churchill be blessed with good health always. after all he has done a lot of good work too much more than other leaders around ! Thanks and Regards to all Raul Carneiro Advert in Herald: The family of late Carmo Dias, Alleamvaddo, Chinchinim, would like to express their deepest appreciation to Mr Churchill Alemao, Honourable Member of Parliament, for spending lot of his valuable time, his efforts and great struggle with the higher authorities in getting the mortal remains of Carmo Dias to Goa instead of cremating in the Cayman Islands. [Goanet] Re: BAN FILMS - PROTEST RALLY.
Long live freedom. Freedom is one of the highest ideals of life, besides equality and justice. We do what we do and we write what we write, only because we have freedom ? Just as a person has freedom to write or to produce/direct a movie in line with da vinci code, people around the world should be allowed to have freedom to hold peaceful morchas, demonstrations expressing their displeasure and hurt of feeling by the depiction of their god/belief. and each must be accountable and responsible for their acts. Hope generation to come in the next few centuries (say year 20,000) do not take these writings/movie as one of their proof in arguing the case against Jesus further, just a da vinci code has taken the new discoveries of gospel of judas etc, which were maybe writen by supporters of judas,pharasis,anti-christ of His times. Inspite of all the demands/demonstration, the movie, books may and will sell. if forbidden, more will sell just like what adam and eve had done. The best way to tackle this problem is from each of us, home, local groups, parish church etc. We must educate our children, people well about our faith. To me this is just a movie. I would view it as how man can think about god. I would see this persons deviant imagination. it may force me to learn more about my religion. this can be motivating factor for people to change their lives for better, it can also be vice versa. Movies and writings do have a strong force to change peoples perceptions and beliefs at times. these kind of movies surely will take away a few who are 'weak' and 'ignorant'. a known person recently, strongly insisted that when St. Joseph died jesus was not present for the funeral - and mary was crying and waiting for him . He said he saw this in movie - 'jesus of nazareth'. 'Cartoons came and Danes went'. good life has to go on, movie or no movie, demonstration or no demonstration, censorship or no censorship. You can continue the good/bad life you are living. You can continue preaching and not practicing. The only reality is we are what we are !. may be if we change ourselves, the world may still not change. let it be. sounds philosophical ? let it be. be good human beings, christ stood for that. be a good samaritan each day of your life. it may have bigger impact than that absurd movie !. God bless this world once again, god bless you and me. Regards, Raul Carneiro PS: I support peaceful demonstrations. considering that it's a means to publicly express dissatisfaction and a begining of a process of informing/educating people. _ Do not post admin requests to the list. [Goanet] Orientation on democracy for King makers
Orientation and familiarization is very useful when one begins a new adventure/work. eg. Teachers have orientation courses, may it be freshers or seniors. .Many professional have to undergo some sort of orientation programme. This is with the view that the persons involved get to know the exact nature of work, rights and duties or new developments or new challenges, expectations from them, likely problems that will come up in the course of their work, ways and methods of approach to tackle the problem etc etc.. Useful tips are discussed in this kind of orientation seminars and workshops, which go a long way in making a person more comfortable with the task ahead. You ask any MLA/MP about the preamble and the Indian constitutional provisions. How many of them will know the general welfare concept of the State, how many of them know the fundamental rights and directive principles ?. Infact, the Indian constitution embodies all that is required for a civil society to co-exist and enjoy the economic benefits for all. Today there is lot of debate on reservations etc.. did these MLA's/MP's ever reflected on the possible reasons as to on what basis and why this provision was made ? what is the history behind this ? NO .. if they had, then today we would not see so many still below poverty line, and we would not see a handful SC/ST more richer than some of our businessmen. To help the prospective legislators/executive body of this country, we urgently need some sort of training courses, orientation. I recommend that all those who want to contest elections right from the lower end (Panch, Councilors, MLA, MP) should mandatory be made aware of their duties and responsibilities to society. Maybe some sort of exam must be taken (not necessarily in line with formal education system). Modelities must be worked out how best this can be done. In democracy, driving license is not given because a person is popular, charismatic leader etc.. but by undergoing a driving test etc.. similarly all candidates must pass some kind of test to apply for post of representative of people. Of course, right now we have some requirements like a person must Indian citizen, must complete a certain age say 30 years of age, etc. As societies are progressing and moving at a fast pace, we must raise our bars. Care must be taken not to exclude certain categories but to allow 'disciplined' people to run the country. Discipline and love of community does not necessarily come from formal education though, than whatever is required needs to be done to inculcate these virtues in the representative of people. Only a political fool will turn around and say that right now and for so many years the country has been managed ? and today India is moving towards being a superpower ? what is superpower ? increase in crimes of all sorts, robberies, murders, rapes, riots, etc.. or is it military and economic power only. For me, a superpower would mean decrease in crimes year by year, economic progress and prosperity for people, bread and butter for all including other basic needs and good things of life must be enjoyed by all and rule of law. Assets declaration was enforced by Election Commission , I hope this will also come in effect sooner than latter. I also hope assets are also re-checked after every 5 years, to see how much more gains/losses these representative have made. In brief, the representative must be aware, qualified in good moral values, well disciplined . These subjective values must be brought out or tested in an objective way to finalise the list of people who can contest the elections or put to vote. Goa can take a lead in this, instead of trying to take lead in compulsory HIV test before marriage . Again this is optional to be made compulsory for cabinet ministers, if they want. [Goanet] Re: Why we give what we give ?
Dear Joegoauk, I appreciate your ability to write and also the good writings (except the priest case). Regarding the mentioned homework, here are my views : (A) Read and Analyze the following: I. -JOUNALISTS deliberately dont write on certain topics. 1. Probably these 'certain topics' were not taught in their schools/colleges. and therefore merrily dont exist. 2.These 'certain topics' are either not lucrative or journalist have so called ' no time' to study the case thoroughly on certain topic. and in anycase the newspaper/magazines have just enough space to print and is always full. you never find blank space. 3. in modern times, maybe journalists are paid more not to write on 'certain topics'. these maybe from garden of eden. 4. They are giving non-journalists a chance/opportunity. II -TERRORISTS dont give up 1. What will they do if they give up ? (what will you do if you give up writing . reading ?) 2. anti terrorist will lose jobs. Bush's rating will fall. 3. where will the sponsors send the money ?. 4. They are giving nationalist a chance/opportunity. III. -NRI CHILDREN dont come home/Goa to their own parents funeral. 1. Parties, money making or sight seeing may be more interesting. 2. Maybe these parents missed the child's childhood, or unfortunately the child is surviving without brains. 3. Atleast they are not hyprocrites. Disrespect is in fashion now ? 4. They are giving neighbours a chance/opportunity. IV. -A posh FATHER (seaman) did not give a present -new motor-cycle to his only sons 17th birthday despite son asking for it. 1. father is waiting for 18th birthday. 2. father does not want to give money to police (RTO) to issue licence. 3. father wants to give a car. 4. father is giving chance/opportunity for son to use friends bike. V. -All my friends got cars except JOHN whose mother (single parent) works at our place as maid servant. 1. if true friends, friends can contribute for a car for john. or biirds of feather must flock together. 2. all the friends must be working in garages. 3. if posh father (seaman) is not giving his only son a bike, will mother (maid servant) give car to her son. 4. mother is leaving it to chance for son to get lottery at ganesh chaturthi festival at quepem/mapusa. VI. -POLICE don't arrest matka bookies who are accepting bets right under their noses. 1. Police arrest only those who bets infront of them. under the nose is difficult. 2. Police cannot arrest their own family member. 3. Police fear, because one day the bookie may become CM of Goa like . 4. Police wants to give everyone a chance/opportunity to live and let live. (B). Please give one example each.. 1. Has ability but not willingness - I have ability to walk but not willing. instead prefer to go by car or bike to play matka. 2. Has willingness but no ability. - Narvenkar is willing to be CM of Goa but have no ability. 3. 'Exception' (as above) one example 1. a) Lino has ability to write and willing to write but writes anythings crap. 2. a) I am willing to donate millions to the chapel construction but have no ability to match joagoauk. [Goanet] Sniffer Dogs & Goa Police
Number of crimes and murders have increased in Goa and unfortunately (god forbid) as things (law and order) stands today, it will keep ever increasing. Are are law enforcers and protectors of security system well equiped to deal with the situation.. ... of course general public must be vigilent too.. just take the recent two case. 1 priest murder and 2. SBI employee Lopes murder. sniffer dogs were pressed into service and they ran just few meters and lost traces or were left to wonder why they were there, part of this is as reported by newspapers etc.. the sniffer dogs could not even trace the knife used to stab the priest it was only after manish and amit confessed that the knife was recovered. What is the use of the sniffer dogs ??? Have the sniffer dogs ever helped in any case so far in Goa ???. yes an answer seems wanting but unfortunately it appears no. then the few questions come to mind ? 1. are these dogs really of the breed used for crime detection. 2. who is training these dogs ? is the person qualified to train the dogs ? 3. Who appointed the trainer of sniffer dogs ? how was he appointed and so forth ? if answer to any of the above question is not satisfactory than the following shoud be done . 1. the dogs must sold off as pets or gifts to the person who ordered them. 2. the trainer should be given the dog biscuits and also given a dog bite as memento. 3. appointing authority should be transferred to bondla. forgive me if am wrong but i still i feel it's ok to recommend such measure. Perhaps an enquiry must be conducted on the above subject, for the benefit of society. maybe if dogs detect a clue, a case maybe solved faster and quickly ? regards, raul carneiro _ Do not post admin requests to the list. [Goanet] RIGHT TO VOTE
An addition to the ongoing exchange of thoughts, just a view points in different perspective:- Right to vote is a fundamental right. I see no satisfactory reason why this right should be taken away ' A GROUP OF PEOPLE', who are Indians but not residing in India due to ' UNAVOIDABLE CIRCUMSTANCES ' ie. often unemployment in India. I am referring specifically about a group of people, who due to lack of job opportunities back in India are forced to look for jobs specially in gulf (middle-east ) or on ships. Am not making a case against other NRI or PIOs. But simply trying to view things from a different small perspective of a few helpless NRI's in Gulf. One significant characteristice of these people is that they are not or often cannot be permanent residents in Gulf and often have only Indian passport. (am referring only to this group). If one resign, or gets an unexpected/ unexplainable/unjustifiable sack etc.. where do most of them go back to their roots i.e India. Of course few (who could save money either by hardwork or by being a crook) dont come back to India, they prefer to migrate to some other countries. This group seems to make so much sacrifices (like missing their dear and loved ones in India. of course others too do but somehow here I may be subjective but it seems lonely life here without family, often envy freedom of others, comparatively in India/maybe elsewhere freedom is on much higher plane in spite of all its implications. Here one feels restriction of freedom not only of movement, speech, but at times even of thought. Back in India, we can boast of breathing freely in our own right. Most of the member of this group cut living cost and remit their monthly income back to India to support their families thereby contribute to spending powers of people there, so strong economy keeps rolling. There are a few direct benefits to Indian residents . 1. By moving out of India this group make space for others to apply for limited/available job and 2. By sending money regularly to India, this group contribute to the economy. 3. Most Resources are used by residents, so there is less constraints on available resources. There are a few disadvantages to this group by moving out 1. They lose voting right ? 2. Customs harassment upon arrival. 3. often encroachment upon their properties by unwanted elements. 4. lack of higher educational opportunities by means of restrictions of seats to their Children. (of course, some gulfees get seats in pvt. Institutes by 'donating' a few lakhs). Of course some of the residents may feel that they have a disadvantage vis-à- vis a gulfee, like purchasing power. (I think at present the most average gulfee are as good as many middle class working in India . it's a false impression that gulfee are financially well to do. Considering the above do you not feel that this group (first generation) should continue their right to vote, should be given the right to vote ? or do anyone feels that right to vote should be taken away from this group ? however, small or big this group may be. I think Right To Vote is Fundamental to social, economic, religious, cultural and political life. And it must be restored to this group as they are like many not aliens in any form. One must not forget representation was but for balancing interests and grievances of belongers. Politics decides who get what and how much. [Goanet] Don Bosco to celebrate 60 years in Goa
Not necessary to wait for opportunity to express a personal great good and satisfying feeling. But I thought this is good timing to write a few lines specially when Salesians (Don Bosco) are be celebrating 60 years of existence in our beloved Goa. Many Goans will be aware of the wonderful works the Salesians are doing in Goa. There may be rare isolated incidents where people may have been dissatisfied with their attitude or style. Of course all cannot be satified and we have to understand they are human too like us. Overall I grade them as too good. " so far so good ". This is being very ideal and just a passing thought. At times I feel all should get the opportunity to study in Don Bosco Schools. At times I feel all should study in Don Bosco School. At times I feel all schools should be like Don Bosco School. I realize though others schools are and good or even better maybe with due respect to all. Of all my life, I owe a big deal to this Institute this is the place where I learnt to walk the beginning of yet another stage of social living. Where I learnt the aspect of responsibility to others and myself and above all to God. Perhaps I was unlucky not to have an opportunity to study in non Don Bosco School (if you consider these are major formative years of life 5th to 10th std.) . But I thank God for being unlucky on this count. I spent 6 years in boarding 5th to 10th Std. During these years I learnt not only to study, but also discipline and good manners and being 'systematic' in all spheres. Some of the things may appear to minor but it make a difference in life like Keep my clothes neat and clean, clean the place we lived and used, play different games, to help in church services thereby to love god and to know that god loved me, to act in drama, to sing, to organize and lead a group in inter competitions thereby develop more skills, to serve, help and attend the sick boys within the boarding, to be generous in way we can, to be helpful and considerate. Of course I did learn other behaviours, living with other, which was not in line with social acceptability like fighting, cheating at game, bad words etc etc. but also I learnt to keep it within control and limits too. Surely not all boys learnt all that I and most others did, suppress these tendencies and temptations for I still have 'loving fear' of the ONE Our GOD. Not all boys become good or bad or ideal members of society here. But surely this institute offered a platform where option and opportunities lie in abundance for good and ideal growth and to be humane. I dont have worldly riches, I am not a great achiever as per the criteria the world has to measure success, neither am I famous - not many people know me. But in my own right and looking back at life and basics surely I have accomplished a lot and am very successful and still learning though. My mother and family will agree, am confident my villagers will agree. Of course some around me today may feel that not all is right but surely in years to come I hope they will respect my straight attitude. My school thought me to be 'straight' By this writing I want to express my sincere gratitude to the Salesian community for the wonderful work and for their immeasurable generosity they showed to many like me. I thank god for Don Bosco. I thank god for my Rectors Fr. Ariesto & Fr. Micheal Masceranhas, My school principals Fr. Bruno, Fr. Cecil, Fr. Lucas, our instructors/assistants and guides Br Tony, Br. Baptist, Br. Santana , my maths Teacher Meera, my science Teacher Sunita, My Konkani Teacher Bharti, My first English Teacher Euginia , Mr first Math Teacher Dulcina, Teacher Coullet, my English Teacher Thereza (she sings for Pillar coir) and others, My friends like Crecensio Viegas from Canacona, Luis, Peter & Alvaro from Chandor, Melwyn from Neturlim, Roque from Sanguem and Rocky from Nuvem, Soccor and Xavier from Fatorda, Steven from Neura, Seby from Pune and many others. I want to thank my mother and the person who advised and assisted my mother to admitting me to this school, the Figueiredo Family from Margoa. I wonder if one day it may be a dream of every parent to send their children to study in this kind of a school, a dream of very student to study along with other kids of this institute and a dream of member of society to be associated with the Salesians, specially in Goa. Many incidents in life often takes me back to the treasures and memories of my school, DON BOSCO SULCORNA. LONG LIVE DON BOSCO, HIS LOVE AND PRINCIPLES. Bless us all and THANK YOU. [Goanet] Writers must be careful & Murder Case of Priest.
-- | Read V.M. de Malar's latest Column: | || | Politics of Destruction | || | http://www.goanet.org/index.php?name=News&file=article&sid=416 | -- Dear Sir, I would like to request you to kindly post my below writing on the internet on goanews.com column. I remain truely goan at heart and thanking you for this opportunity and facility . Thank you Raul Carneiro Tel. 00965 6427764. This has reference to Mr. Godfrey J I Gonsalves comments My intention of writing this is to express my opinion and urge people to write the most appropriately specially in very sensitive cases, like the murder case of the priest as it affects the community at large. Let the Truth be Truth. let it come, but before it is systematically proven (of course sometimes truth is difficult to come out or is not proven) or known to be true, we must show restrain and not go to the extreme conclusions as some writers have gone to blame the priest. WE DONT KNOW YET THE FULL TRUTH OR FACTS. A shiver passed when we learnt that about 27 stabs were on the body of the priest and that he was suffocated to death. Thinking how much he must have suffered, how much helpless the priest must have felt on that ill-fated night sends more pain to the mind and heart. God bless the soul of the 'priest'. We pray to god for forgiveness and to show his mercy to Fr. Eusebio IF he failed anywhere, if there were any weakness on his part and god bless his soul for the services he rendered for the community. We have an obligation to pray for his soul, irrespective of the priest's behaviour and what may have been. We dont know the 'EXACT CAUSE' that triggered the 2 youth to go to such an extend of ending life of another being. is there any justifiable reason to do what Amit and Manish did ? even if the priest had made some mistakes, they could have reported to Bishop house . The crime of murdering the priest is unforgiving and unjustifiable. Imagine if all of us murder another person because that person did not keep his promise or because someone hurt us -- than we will find the strets full of dead bodies everyday and we ourselves maybe murdered and may not live to see even that. There are two things that we (friends and myself) find strange about the writing of Mr. Godfrey. 1. Why do you raise the question of lent season and priest giving food and alcohol to non-christians at parochial house ? Giving food, and even shelter to the 2 youths is a act of kindness. if the priest found someone in need of help, and volunteered to help is it a bad thing ?. we dont enquire or ask religion or caste to help someone in need. Of course we need the know more about the relationship the between the priest and the 2 youths. how long they knew each other, did they previously stayed overnight with the priest ? did the priest lend them money ? or did they lend money to the priest ? etc etc. We dont know if the priest offered alcohol to the youths as mentioned in the below article of Mr. Godfrey, or the youth brought the alcohol with them. Maybe the police will confirm correctly ? even if the priest had beer along with the youth irrespective of who brought it - I dont think it is a dreadful sin. why do you start thinking that it is not in line with christian habits ? WE ARE FORCED TO WONDER, how many times do we (people in the community and specially those who raise the question about lent season and acceptable behavious) or our family members go to help the priest or church activities ? WE ALSO WILL BE PLEASED TO KNOW, how many things you do that does not bring stigma to the community or what you do to bring laurals to your religious community ?. It's easy to say this is not in line with religious dogmas and that bring stigma to community. When we lose someone from our family or loved one, we know what is stigma and what is a fittness of things ( god protect us and our fly members) 2. We understand and agree with you that goans should be preferably employed by the priest/church in mess work etc.. But have anyone seen around ? how many goans boys are willing to help the priest/church to do household work for the salary that is presently offered ?. we know times have changed, economic demands are more, goans are earning abroad like ourselves. If goans were willing to do all the work for the amount of salary paid in goa, we would not have many problems in goa. ( this can be a big debate ) Now turning to the real problem, Do you believe that
