Anyhow, can we consider the possibility that the priest was forced to offer them liquor under duress? I know of people who cannot control their intake - one drink leads to another, and even though the patrao knows they're drunk and refuse them another, they can get pretty aggressive. I don't know about London pubs, but in Melbourne, management reserves the right to refuse to serve an intoxicated customer. Dear Joe, The priest in question is a family friend of my in-laws and they can vouch that he has never visited any of them in their rooms even though he's spent several nights in their ancestral house and there are boys aplenty in my husband's family - all of who are a lot more handsome than some pock-marked boys from UP with paan stained teeth. Secondly, you really believe that these two men became intoxicated after two beers? Men from UP drink battery acid for fun. Goan beer would be more like a Margao bus-stand limonade for them. Lastly since Goa government is so keen on proving causative effect, such as AIDS testing will prevent spread of AIDS, we can safely assume banning consumption of beer will prevent future murders. That's where (whilst we were bachelors) used to go for fun etc as the garden, for us and for many was a 'Cruising spot' Manish visited the Priest at least on 3 other occasions.. and treated him well. Friday the 17th March: The guests visited the priest in the afternoon. The Priest call them back at night Half of my friends abstain from drinking alcohol during lent season. Remaining half would not drink or eat meat on Fridays only. But our two guests were entertained with good meals and beer whisky too. The guests n the cook are not used to drinking that was offered by the Priest. 'Padri aponn pita ani dusriamkui dita soro ? ani korezmant ? xi baba' After meals and drinks they all go to sleep separately. But the Priest, late in the night goes to check whether they are fine and that's where the trouble started ??? Is the beer in goa is too much of alcohol contents ? or some more dose of whisky added to the beer ? If so, by whom and why ? The cook too had a peg of whisky (with added dose?) and he had a sound sleep that he could not even hear the screaming of the Priest. It reminds me of a Pop Star/Singer who was accused of adding such doses to soft drinks so that his victims get intoxicated.. Some questions may never be answered. Why they will kill some one who is so close to them? Merely not offering a job could not be an excuse.. Why entertain guests at night (and when one was a stranger) ? Why serve alcohol ? (and to those who never had alcohol before). Why visit middle of the night (could be around 2am) ?? Now, Who is to blame ? The Priest, the cook, the guests or the alcohol ?? Whatever may be the case or the motive/outcome, there is always something to learn from.. Church should also make sure that there are no priests living all alone in the church due to health security reasons and any other temptations that may arise while living all alone (due to frustrations etc.).
