I know it is a thankless job, and I don't envy you. I can only thank you for doing it. This is an appeal to all well-intentioned persons to kindly avoid the trap being set by a handful of persons with dubious intents. The best way to avoid the trap is not to respond to posts from internet trolls, and posts or portions of posts containing personal attacks and abuses. I think every member of Goanet also has a duty to stand up and speak out when s/he feels acceptable limits are being violated. In one case, a very responsible member, Eustaquio (EJS) found that one of his post was wrongly rejected -- and I was probably the culprit, thinking it was a virus. In another case, one was surprised to read the content of the post one had hurriedly approved. Still, it would be very nice to hear Goanetters speaking up when they find posts to be consistently objectionable in tone or content -- so that everyone knows what is expected-behaviour on Goanet. Needless to say, all of us at Goanet would like to see this network play its role, as an instrument to take all Goans forward. I would like to draw to your attention to a couple of issues: 1. One member recently forwarded a personal attack on another member to the list. The email was allegedly written by someone else. I'd like to remind you that you are responsible for the content you post to Goanet, whether or not you wrote it. Please use your good judgement before doing something like this. 2. If you would like to include parts of an email you are replying to in your response, you are responsible for trimming the original email to contain the least amount of text possible. One obvious thing would be to remove the Goanet footer. It's quite frustrating to have multiple footer and messages quoted in full in the digest. Thanks for your time.
