[Goanet] Goanet Reader: Politicians in Goa are just taking care of their own interests (Nisser Dias)

2010-03-11 Thread Goanet Reader
POLITICIANS IN GOA ARE JUST TAKING CARE OF THEIR OWN INTERESTS

By Nisser Dias
nisserd...@gmail.com
9422437029

Last week, elected representatives -- or rather some of the
ministers of the Congress-led coalition government -- set yet
another precedent in India's tourist state. The G7 as the
group is known and named after the Group of Seven, but now
branded as the Gang of Seven, has served an ultimatum to the
chief minister. They've done so by indicating to him in no
uncertain terms that he dare not lift a finger to drop them
as ministers under any circumstances. Else, his term as chief
minister too would be cut short.

In other words the Gang of Seven, most of whose members
either has a shady past or a criminal record (at the time of
penning this column, two cases were registered against the
Tourism minister Mickky Pacheco) are telling not only the
chief minister but also the people of Goa, that the law is
not applicable to them. That the law is only to the lay
person. To put it in Shashi Tharoor's words, it is applicable
only to the cattle class, that is, to us the people of Goa.

Goa's legacy as a paradise on earth -- not
forgetting being one of the global hot-spots for its
flora and fauna -- is based on it being home to
grand or aristocratic architecture, virgin beaches,
a soothing green countryside, crystal clear
waterfalls, calmly flowing rivers and easy green
rolling hills. This all is rapidly becoming a thing
of the past. And in its place what we hear of are
drug deals, rapes, murders and what we see is utter
  contempt for the law.

Who is responsible for this collapse of law and order? It is
me and you, for electing self-centered individuals to run the
administration of this state. Individuals whose primary aim
is to fill their coffers even if it mean to ride roughshod
the law or bend it to suit their interests. We expected out
elected representatives to be role models for our citizens,
but they have let us down miserably.

Last week, the political scenario in the state was in a state
of flux, with the Gang of Seven flexing their muscles in
connivance with State and Central leaders. Their intention
being not the betterment of the State and its people, but
simply their own wellbeing.

There were rumours last week that the chief minister wanted
to rein in dissent against him by the Gang of Seven. An
opportunity came the CM's way with the NIA (National
Investigation Agency) probing the links of Transport minister
Sudin Dhavlikar's wife with the Hindu fundamentalist group
Sanatan Sanstha. The latter is charged with having tried to
carry out bomb explosions in Margao on the eve of Diwali.

The CM apparently wanted to ease him out of cabinet, at the
same time using the yardstick applied to senior Congressman
Dayanand Narvekar, Education minister Babush Monserrate was
also in the firing line, as a charge-sheet was filed against
him in a criminal case. But the group of seven caused the
plans of the chief minister to go haywire.

Interestingly what has surfaced in the public domain is the
fact that it is no longer the chief minister's prerogative to
either induct or drop a minister. Neither is it within his
discretion to allot portfolios of his choice to his cabinet
colleagues.

Infact, our chief minister has been reduced to a mere postman
who does what the Centre directs him too. Besides, he also
gives in to the wishes of the coalition partner, and further
agrees to the demands of the Independents supporting the
government.

Inspite of all this, none are happy. Either they
feel they have not been included in the Cabinet
when they deserve to, or because those included
could not get the choicest or the lucrative
portfolios. Hence, once again the rigmarole begins
and the clamour goes out for a leadership change.
This means toppling bids, threats to pull out of
the government and so on. And for what and whom? It
is surely not for the betterment of the State or
its people but for our politicians themselves.

Let's us analyze our ministers and their criminal record.

First the Gang of Seven: Tourism minister Mickky Pacheco was
involved in a shack burning case in Betalbatim even before he
became a MLA. He was later acquitted. He still though has
some cases pending with the police like the infamous casino
case and, just this week, the police have registered offences
against him for assault on a photojournalist and filling of
low lying area in Colva. Earlier too, there were instances
where he allegedly assaulted a KTC driver and an electricity
department engineer while they were on duty. For his brash
behaviour, he has even denied a gun license.

Then comes Education minister Babush Monserrate,
who very recently he has been charged with an
'attempt to murder' in the Panjim police station

After years of struggle against uncontrolled mining in Goa, we finally

forces!

However our chances of maintaining the current MORATORIUM long term on new
mining leases should depend on the results of the report from NEERI,
instead of the proposal from the Ministry of Environment and Forests,
which makes it dependent on the new MINING POLICY which will practically
take us back to where we were before - which is in the hands of the mining
lobby.

You can now sign a Petition to the Minister of State for Environment and

The petition is not to lift the moratorium on new mining leases till such

Thanks for your help and cooperation.

late-nite partying well outside of the premises disturbing the already
taxed peaceful ambience of the vicinity. This has been made possible
by the new regulation where the Home Ministry has taken charge to
issue licences to night parties, including raves. Now it is that much
easier to get cracking with a rave party than before with the

who will be a notch richer by the night.

Wendell has struck the right chord and it has made me look up,
surprised. He has invoked the word 'SANITY' Let me add two more words

ensure that the sea waves breaking over Chapora hills will be heard

I challenge Wendell to take up this potent 'PPS' issue and trash it

 IT MUST STOP!

It is so easy to stop. It's not as there is no solution. The people and the
Police and the Government should have the will to stop it. Put a law in

And pray for this noise to stop. For Satan to leave our shores. To make us

2010-03-11 Thread Goanet Reader
Goans don't read
enough or write
enough... Partying,
eating, dancing and
sports are what Goans
love -- Ben Antao

--
Ben Antao was a journalist in Goa (The Navhind Times), Bombay
(Indian Express) and in Canada, and is an active writer in
the world of both fiction and non-fiction. Recently, he
edited a book of expat Goans in Canada, and shares with
FREDERICK NORONHA some of his insights into the world of
Goans, writing and publishing.
-

FN: Tell us about the book? How would you describe it briefly?

'Goa Masala' is an anthology of stories (both
fiction and non-fiction) by Canadian Goans with a
Goan flavour. The book seeks to record for
posterity the memories of senior Canadian Goans who
have made Canada their home in the past 50 years or
so. The project was initiated for 55 Plus Goan
Association of Mississauga, Ontario, by Rudi
Rodrigues, 60, a talented painter and design
artist, whom I got to know during the 2008
  International Goan Convention in Toronto.

'Goa Masala' contains about 40 stories, most of them written
by Goans who have settled in Canada after spending years in
Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania in East Africa, as well as in
Rangoon, Myanmar. Their memoirs range from an elephant hunt
in Tanzania, to the removal of evil eye (dishti), to arranged
marriages and snakes.

FN: What prompted you (and the publishers) to take up such an
initiative?

Actually, it was Rudi who initiated the project through his
55PGA Book Club. He wanted senior Goans to read Goan books
and literature and invited me to do a reading from my novel
'The Tailor's Daughter' and answer questions, which I did
(July 2009) before a group of eight Goans.

Later we discussed the idea of having the senior Goans write
down their experiences in the form of stories. He took up the
ball and called for submissions for a short story contest.

FN: Was it easy to get the book completed? What were the
challenges to put it together?

No, it wasn't easy to get the Goans excited about writing.

Some had ideas but didn't know how to present them. Rudi
persevered and got a few 55PGA members to read the early
submissions and correct them.

Later he sent me more than a dozen submissions for editing
and opinion. I was glad to do so as I wanted to encourage our
Goans to write their memoirs and experiences in East Africa.

Gradually, the submissions grew and I read and
edited the entire 40 stories at least twice. I also
volunteered to be the publisher as my company A
Plus Publishing had published three books before in
which Rudi was involved, doing the design and
formatting. As a publisher I could get an ISBN for
Goa Masala and also have it included in the
archives of the federal government's publishing
  agency, Legal Deposit in Ottawa.

FN: Do you think Goans abroad express themselves enough in
writing? Do they read enough?

From my experience they don't read enough or write enough. I
think they need to be encouraged and supported in the pastime
of reading and writing.

Writing and reading are intellectual exercises
whose benefit and value take time to accrue and
  appreciate. Whereas partying, dancing, eating,
drinking and playing sports are sensual activities
that Goans love to participate in. So 'Goa Masala'
was an effort to pursue some intellectual fun.

FN: But is it easier, with all the technology and
communication possibilities today, to put together books now?
What do you feel about this?

Yes, it is easier to bring out books today with the advanced
technology of print on demand. If writers love to write and
wish to share their writing with a limited readership they
can pursue this POD (print-on-demand) route with limited
capital.

However, they should be pragmatic and understand that book
publishing is not a money-making enterprise. Only five out of
100 books published anywhere in the world today break even, I
understand.

FN: How did the book fare?

Since 55PGA received a grant from the government, their
objective was to break even and not to make a profit. So Rudi
and I discussed the print run and settled on 300 copies, all
of which were sold by launch day (Feb 6, 2010).

Since then I've received expressions of buying interest from
12 people; but we'll publish more only if there are prior and
paid sales for at least 200 because of costs ($12-15 to print
a copy).

FN: Do you have any more such plans in the pipeline?

No, none at the moment.

FN: What do you feel were the main contributions of such an
initiative?

I feel the main contribution has been to bring senior Goans
together to write their reminiscences, many of which are
exciting and informative, and see their work in print.

Dear Dr. Barad,
You must be as impressed as I am with how much Goanetters know about first
century Palestine, etc. Anyway. I will skip Jesus the Christ's surname, but
give you the surname of another Jesus who presumably lived before Jesus
Christ. He was Jeshu ben Pandira. Its all esoteric material, and Steiner of
Anthroposophyhttp://wn.rsarchive.org/Lectures/EsoChristian/1904p01.html
talked
about this enity in a 1911 lecture in Leipzig. (Btw, the name Jesus has
undergone multiple transliterations).

It a bit odd, but today I went to pick up a book by Richard Smoley, The Dice
Game of Shiva (recommended by mt friend Madhav Chari from Chennai), but
before I got to it--a book on Steiner's lectures, and the Leipzig lecture
caught my attention. Such things happens to me often, but lets leave it at
that.

I believe that it behooves us to be reasonable with each other on Goanet, if
we are to maintain some relationship over the next say two decades. My point
being that with all our insecurities, it is as though a red flag has been
shown to the bulls when one says, But right now I am curious to know the
SURNAME of our lord Jesus Christ Even if you are a Christian, the
question is a bit jarring. How about, Can someone tell me what was Jesus's
surname?, and perhaps also in a separate email. But before that anticipate
that in the first place such things are known to a few, very few, and also
fewer Catholics read the Bible. So I hope you checked out for yourself on
Wiki, etc., or some encyclopedia.

Do understand, that this is a suggestion and by now you must know I harbor
no ill will towards you or others---although I do get up in arms sometimes
for reasons other than encountering difference of I and the Other as opposed
to the I, leading to We---related to Ahamkara.

Having learnt, and learning from Samkhya, Sanathan Dharma, Zen etc., I
really do believe that Indian Christians can too, as well as, there being a
lot in western societies that we can all learn from.

Anandane raha. Anandit dhrustit jag pahayla milel. Sagla purna honar.

Here is some information doe a reliable source:

JESUS
The word Jesus is the Latin form of the Greek Iesous, which in turn is
the transliteration of the Hebrew Jeshua, or Joshua, or again
Jehoshua, meaning Jehovah is salvation. Though the name in one form
or another occurs frequently in the Old Testament, it was not borne by
a person of prominence between the time of Josue, the son of Nun and
Josue, the high priest in the days of Zorobabel. It was also the name
of the author of Ecclesiaticus, of one of Christ's ancestors mentioned
in the genealogy, found in the Third Gospel (Luke 3:29), and one of
the St. Paul's companions (Colossians 4:11). During the Hellenizing
period, Jason, a purely Greek analogon of Jesus, appears to have been
adopted by many (1 Maccabees 8:17; 12:16; 14:22; 2 Maccabees 1:7;
2:24; 4:7-26; 5:5-10; Acts 17:5-9; Romans 16:21). The Greek name is
connected with verb iasthai, to heal; it is therefore, not surprising
that some of the Greek Fathers allied the word Jesus with same root
(Eusebius, Dem. Ev., IV; cf. Acts 9:34; 10:38). Though about the
time of Christ the name Jesus appears to have been fairly common
(Josephus, Ant., XV, ix, 2; XVII, xiii, 1; XX, ix, 1; Bel. Jud.,
III, ix, 7; IV, iii, 9; VI, v, 5; Vit., 22) it was imposed on our
Lord by God's express order (Luke 1:31; Matthew 1:21), to foreshow
that the Child was destined to save his people from their sins.
Philo (De Mutt. Nom., 21) is therefore, right when he explains
Iesous as meaning soteria kyrion; Eusebius (Dem., Ev., IV, ad fin.;
P.G., XXII, 333) gives the meaning Theou soterion; while St. Cyril of
Jerusalem interprets the word as equivalent to soter (Catechetical
Lectures X.13). This last writer, however, appears to agree with
Clement of Alexandria in considering the word Iesous as of Greek
origin (The Pedagogue III.12); St. Chrysostom emphasizes again the
Hebrew derivation of the word and its meaning soter (Homily 2 on
Matthew, No. 2), thus agreeing with the exegesis of the angel speaking
to St. Joseph (Matthew 1:21).

Surprisingly, even the French call Jesus Jezu, just like us. how He
was addressed in Portuguese?

CHRIST
The word Christ, Christos, the Greek equivalent of the Hebrew Messias,
means anointed. According to the Old Law, priests (Exodus 29:29;
Leviticus 4:3), kings (1 Samuel 10:1; 24:7), and prophets (Isaiah
61:1) were supposed to be anointed for their respective offices; now,
the Christ, or the Messias, combined this threefold dignity in His
Person. It is not surprising, therefore, that for centuries the Jews
had referred to their expected Deliverer as the Anointed; perhaps

BICHOLIM, MARCH 10
Two persons from Bicholim taluka died of rabies on Monday, after being
bitten by dogs a few months ago.
According to Indian Medical Association (Goa) President Dr Shekhar Salkar,
Tilakprasad Acharya (45) of Gaonkarwada-Mulgao and Bhagirathi L Paryekar
(60) from Dodamarg were bitten by dogs a few months ago.
Acharya and Paryekar were taken to a hospital in Bicholim on Saturday.
However, since doctors at the hospital detected rabies, they were rushed to
GMC hospital on the same day.
According to reports, Bhagirathi tried some local treatment and did not pay
much attention to the wounds.
“She was behaving like a dog during the last stages and was shifted to GMC
Bambolim,” Dr Salkar told the media.
Acharya had earlier gone to Sanquelim PHC and had also visited the Bicholim
PHC but he was told that there were no anti-rabies vaccines in the hospital.
He was admitted to GMC hospital on March 6 and died after two days.
“I had also told the doctors and nurses to take the anti-rabies dose after
coming in contact with the rabies patient, but I was told that the dose was
not available in the hospital,” Dr Salkar said.
When some reporters enquired with officials at the Bicholim PHC on
Wednesday, they were told that they had received the anti-rabies injections.
Meanwhile, Dr Salkar has cautioned health authorities and the State
government to be aware about the dreadful disease and to remain alert with
all necessary vaccines and equipment in all the hospitals to tackle cases of
rabies.

BANGALORE: Spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Monday
expressed surprise over the hue and cry over painter M.F.
Husain's move to give up Indian citizenship and chided him
for painting Indian gods in the nude.
While India has a policy of free expression, one cannot
accept blatant insult to the heroes of its land. It is the
intention behind a man's creativity which is questionable,
Ravi Shankar said in a statement.
In one of Husain's paintings of Mahatma Gandhi, Karl Marx,
Albert Einstein and Hitler, he painted only Hitler nude and
said that his way of humiliating a person is to paint him
  nude.
No one has ever sculpted Rama and Sita as nude. Creative
expression is always welcome. No country has been as liberal
as India... Any nude woman could have been painted by him
but calling the women Sita, Lakshmi (and) Saraswati shows
  his perversion and hatred.
Will M.F. Husain show the same creativity and the same
spirit with Islamic heroes and would he, then, be able
  retain his Qatari citizenship?
  Double standards,

  Regards

  Vasant Baliga

Two dorgis, one knife hoping to tame the ghost eh? You are giving me
ideas now. What if the ghost was in a bikini ya?
My pet pigling Catrina is rolling in laughter!

Just by the way, there is just one tourist ghost that shows (from what
I have heard in my wanderings).when the sand dunes were around in
Baga; a woman (foreigner) would show herself and disappear behind the
dunes...apparently in the afternoons if I am not mistaken, wearing
white.

Yes so true, in the 'good old days' one heard the noise of the
breaking waves even in Joe-UK-Utorda's Majorda. I was there t'day when
the tide was comming inall one heard is the greasy Kas*m*ris
hounding the tourists.

Yoga my friends, yoga can cut the noise out, through meditation.

I am time passin tru Vascu on my summa holidays..and guess
what, on any given day, at an unearthly hour three places of worship
(same religion) begin their loud speaker notice, call to
prayer...at 5:30 AM or maybe earlier...two from Bina, one from
Mangor. And on a Saturday, the moment the first group is done, a
different religion takes over (from one source, thankfully). Then on a
Sunday, the third religious place of worship (I do not think there are
any Goichis left in Vascu) does its call on loud speakers. Phew, yaar,
Too much no?

I would think with so much religion going, folks in Vascu would be
nice, kind and show a little humility or something no? Guess
what...blasting of religious noises does nothing to their soulor
do they have one, I guess! Go to a bank, the municipality or even
stand in line for the vibrating Kadhamba express Vascu-Ponji: everyone
is cutting the queue, jumping the line. Everyone is still G for
greedy, aiming for the extra buck, hook nor crook no matter. My
politician neighbour (very religious) cannot find the Municipal
garbage disposal boxes; they throw their into my small property

[Goanet] A Repugnant Suggestion By The Chief Justice Of India

2010-03-11 Thread Venantius J Pinto
This is exactly the kind of stuff that happens, and perhaps a plaintive
strategy is being suggested towards what is Violent Seizure. Why plaintive?
Because it suggests a helplessness, as well as a nonchalance in one of our
Executive branches. We want change but finding it hard to spread
understanding.

I know someone whose fathers drivers daughter was abducted while attending
her Std XII exams if I am not mistaken and raped. It was impressed upon her
by the rapists family---older relatives as other do-gooders, that she
marry her rapist. She eventually did. She was also told by the rapist that
he would kill her father.

Please do not ask me details, nor write me aggrieved letters about statue of
limitations, etc.

This is also why I do not place much store by education. The Hon. Chief
Justice of India, Justice K G Balakrishna did not study Underwater welding,
or Milling, or even OBGyn. He studied Law which stems from Moral Systems. It
means very little eventually, but we need education to get somewhere and
during that time based on ones acculturation and sense of morals---the
ability to hurt is either subsumed or eradicated.

When one has seen and heard so much of cruelty and brutality as I have (and
others I presume)---life starts to look very different. It is people like me
who end up as some of the most arch haters of Politics as usual, the State,
and the entire governing apparatus---IF ONE does not QUICKLY learn how to
stop the mind going off. We see shit-eating grins, miles off, and the body
has no option but to become all eyes. Instead of taking arms (which many of
us would be EMINENTLY qualified to DO) one attempts smaller humane changes.
But they too get spurned and despised, even at smaller levels. But one has
to proceed with a sincere smile, since one makes a choice to do so.

Others develop their own ways of dealing with such issues living in the
west. Most of them suffocate under the weigh of the civilization they wish
to remain attached to as per their interpretations in changing scenarios
(including the changes manifesting in their own parents, spouses and
children; and more); yet slowly asphyxiate while attempting to maintain
unfathomed cross-cultural balances of their making. This applies in India
too,

A Repugnant Suggestion By The Chief Justice Of India

As I was browsing through the news papers on the net, on Women's day, one
 of the
articles on TOI did attract my attention in particular, the statement made
 by
the Hon. Chief Justice of India, Justice K G Balakrishnan, that due regard
 must
be given to the wishes of a rape victim, if she wants to marry the rapist
 or
give birth to a child conceived following the crime. I am in no way as
qualified as the CJI, nor do I understand anything major about the law
 process,
but as a concerned citizen of India, I am much perturbed by this statement.

I do ask:

(a): Did we really read what the good Chief Justice said (at a seminar)?

(b) Do we have a view on the paradigm shift which is presently taking

(e) Would they have (say) forcibly prevented the marriage of the two?

(f) Are we all not autonomous enough to make our own mistakes ...and

I have nothing to add, and I was not referring to abortions. Also, as an

As far as the Goa Union of Journalists goes -- which is supposed to be both

I think GUJ has spoken up on many other issues. The original poser, and I
agree with him, would be contending that if it did then, it should also do
so now. It did not have any limitations then, why should it have limiations
now?

[Goanet] Patriotism was guiding force for Bhau to run Goa: Shashikala

2010-03-11 Thread Goanet News Service

Patriotism was guiding force for Bhau to run Goa: Shashikala
Written by RAMNATH N PAI RAIKAR
Friday, 12 March 2010 00:34

PANAJI: The former chief minister, Ms Shashikala Kakodkar, remembering
her legendary father, late Bhausaheb alias D B Bandodkar on the eve of
the commencement of his birth centenary celebrations said that
patriotism was the guiding force for Bhau to run Goa.

“Bhau was never a politician by choice, but the situation that prevailed
during the post-Liberation period, including unanimous decision of the
Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party leaders, forced him to head the state
administration,” she recalled, observing that even though her father was
not a statesman, he stood by his decisions and ensured that they were
implemented in true spirit, for the benefit of the masses. “Two of his
radical decisions were opening Marathi medium schools in nook and corner
of Goa, and bringing land reforms in the region,” Ms Kakodkar stated,
pointing out that Bhau was totally unimpressed with the British system
of education, which was adopted by the independent India, and was of the
opinion that basic education in Marathi and Konkani as well as Urdu
language, if the students existed, would not only link the children to
their culture and tradition but also build their national character.

“Furthermore, my father was well aware of the feudal system prevalent in
Goa and felt that the poor and downtrodden people, both Hindus and
Christians, should be exposed to education as its absence leads to
illiteracy, and illiteracy breeds poverty,” she added. Speaking further,
Ms Kakodkar said, “Bhau was of the firm opinion that any amount of money
as well as strong will to do something good for the benefit of society
were just not enough, and a person with such intentions needed to have
power at his disposal.” And he used power just for that purpose, she noted.

Stating that Bhau was a visionary who envisaged Goa University and
started post-graduation centre, thought of Kala Academy complex and
built a Kala Academy theatre in the heart of the city, chalked out
industrial future for Goa and developed industrial estates as well as
invited large industries like MRF, Ciba Geigy and Zuari Agro Chemicals
to the region, and undertook vigorous development of infrastructure for
the Union Territory, Ms Kakodkar maintained, “In fact, it goes to the
credit of Bhau that all big industries placed their faith in him and
opened their units in Goa.”

“Many versions as regards Opinion Poll are in existence, but people
hardly know the reality behind Bhau’s support for merger of Goa in
Maharashtra,” Ms Kakodkar said, mentioning that Bhau genuinely believed
in merger but once the public verdict went against it, Bhau accepted the
same gracefully and tried to detach himself from politics. “However, so
great was his influence on the Goan people that he was elected to power
immediately after the Opinion Poll, thus reaffirming their trust in
him,” she remembered.

When asked as to whether her illustrious father wanted to groom her as
his political successor, the way Pt Jawaharlal Nehru did for Indira
Gandhi, Ms Kakodkar said that her father never wanted her to join
politics. “However, he wanted me to be very much aware of the world of
politics and provided me with lot of books pertaining to great leaders
around the world,” Ms Kakodkar informed, recollecting that she also
helped her father in receiving towering personalities from various
fields, at their residence. “In fact, my mother, a traditional Hindu
lady, rarely came out to receive the official guests, but I remember a
close associate of Lord Mountbatten writing to my father that he was
overwhelmed with the welcome accorded to him by Bhau and my mother,
during his visit to our house,” Ms Kakodkar said.

“I had been keenly participating in the election campaigns of the MGP
and during the 1967 assembly polls, the MGP supporters from Ponda
suggested that I should contest the election, which not only took me by
surprise but also made me tell them that Bhau would shrug off the idea,”
Ms Kakodkar revealed. “When Bhau came to know about this suggestion
presented to him in the form of a signed memorandum, he chose to remain
absent at the central committee meeting of the MGP and allowed the
members to take related decision without any pressure,” she informed,
“And that’s how I went to contest the assembly polls.”

Recalling the grim day of Bhau’s demise, Ms Kakodkar said that
succeeding Bhau as the chief minister of the Union Territory was the
last thing in her mind. “All of us were overtaken by grief and in no way
such a thought could come to my mind,” she maintained, recollecting that
the then governor S K Bannerji was in Daman, while her brother,
Siddharth was in Mumbai, all set to board a plane to America.

“However, as I came to know later, the MGP in one voice decided on me as
the next chief minister of Goa, Daman and Diu, and
