Frequently asked questions (FAQ's) regarding the Goa Sudharop International 
Youth Convention to be held in Goa in Dec 2012 -

Q: What is the purpose of the Convention?
A: The purpose is to bring expat Goan youth from various backgrounds and 
communities from around the diaspora to Goa to discover their ancestral roots 
and tour Goa, experience Goa (especially the wonderful non-tourist aspects of 
Goa), meet local Goan youth, form friendships and partnerships with like-minded 
youth, and work on projects related to Goa.

Q: Who can attend?
A: Expat Goan youth ages 15-35. We will also invite local Goan youth based in 
Goa.

Q: Where will the convention be held?
A: At a hotel in South Goa with access to the beach and transport to major 
centers.

Q: Do I have to stay at the hotel to attend the convention?
A: No, you can stay at other facilities, including with your friends and family 
in Goa.

Q: When will be the convention be held?
A: From Dec 27-31 which includes 2-3 days of tours and 2-3 days of conference 
meetings and convention activities culminating in a grand New Years Eve beach 
BBQ dinner. Actual program to be announced and will include Goan history, art, 
music, heritage, literature, culture. Issues related to Goa's wildlife, 
ecology, environment, sustainable development, etc. will also be covered.

Q: How much will it cost to attend?
A: There will be a convention fee (to be determined). In addition, attendees 
will be responsible for their travel/hotel costs.

Has Parrikar lost the fire in his belly?

PANJIM: Has the Leader of the Opposition Manohar Parrikar lost fire in 
his belly? At a time when Congress Government is literally giving issue 
after issue on a platter, Parrikar has often raised issues only to let 
them simmer on the backburner.


While some sections of the Congress are speaking of a “ secret deal” 
between Parrikar and his former number two in the Cabinet, the present 
Chief minister Digambar Kamat, some BJP MLAs are secretly “ shocked”.


“When the PAC report on illegal mining was about to be out, it was all 
about Parrikar. Suddenly in a dramatic twist, Congress MLAs in the PAC 
sabotaged it and the report did not make it to the Assembly. This and 
many issues indicate that he is going soft on the Government and 
specifically on the CM. We wonder why”, said a South Goa MLA. At that 
time of tabling the PAC report, Parrikar had told Herald “ So what if 
the report is not tabled. I can come out with my own report. I shall 
hold a press conference and release the report tomorrow”. Nothing happened.


Then, on the major issue of de- notifying the 36,800 square metres of 
land to Bernard Costa, meant for parking at the expanded Dabolim 
airport, was an issue waiting to be grabbed by the BJP. There are 
serious apprehensions of grave impropriety by the Revenue Minister and 
the Deputy Speaker, with the concurrence of the Chief Minister of 
bypassing all objections and handing back land to one individual.


There has not been a word from Manohar Parrikar or a single BJP member 
or MLA, even in the Mormugao taluka, prompting Dr Wilfred Mesquita a 
prominent Vasco resident and open BJP sympathizer to actually ask him 
what was wrong.


But this isn’t quite new.

When the SEZs were scrapped in Goa, Parrikar had told a group of 
activists on December 27, 2010, a month after the High Court judgment 
scrapping SEZs that the PAC would investigate and bring out a report in 
three months. That investigation or report never happened.


On the issue of massive irregularities in the allotment of plots, 
Parrikar has gone soft. The BJP had given a deadline of November 5 to 
the Government to take criminal action against Chairman of Goa 
Industrial Development Corporation ( GIDC) Babu Kavlekar failing which 
they would file an FIR against him, and GIDC. “ A complaint will be 
filed against everyone who comes under the ambit”, said Parrikar further 
adding that BJP would defi- nitely file a complaint by November 21- 22.


Meanwhile, the Opposition leader has also toned down his tenor on other 
issues.


“The PPP for Mapusa hospital has been derailed and since the Government 
has been restrained from committing a wrong, I don’t see a reason to 
continue with the agitation”, stated Parrikar when asked why they were 
quiet on the issue.


So why is he silent on some burning issues? The response is typically 
Parrikar’s.


“When we come back to power, we will rectify wrongs. If the RP- 2021 is 
not in accordance with demands of the gram sabhas and the Government 
does not incorporate their recommendation, I will change it”. However, 
without taking on issues, one wonders how the road to power will be paved.

While open defecation has been going on in the world ever since the begining of 
time, The Indians have known about the flush toilet for quite a while- It is 
claimed that the flush toilet was actually invented in India 4600 years

In the modern era only about 1/3 of the world population has access to flush 
toilets. The remaining 2/3 have not been so fortunate. So open defecation 
continues. It has been estimated that in India people leave over a 100,000 tons 
of excrement on the ground every day( you crunch the numbers).

The  flush toilet,  while quite confortable for those who have it, is a 
suboptimal solution to the human waste disposal issue. It uses a lot of piped 
in 
 water, an extremely valuable and increasingly scarce resource and the waste 
reclamation systems employed do not prevent medicines and chemicals consumed by 
humans from entering the ground water.This creates further downstream 
complications.

Which brings us to the "Reinventing the Toilet Challenge"

revenue for the city every year. San Antonio is poised to become the first U.S. 
city to transform the human waste of its residents into clean-burning natural 
gas that can fuel their furnaces and the power plants that light their homes. 


Comment:
Would such a facility be feasible in Goa ? Many "pay-for -poop" sub stations 
 would have to be setup and the waste collected would have to be trucked to a 
central facility designed to transform excrement into natural gas.
You could almost pay all of JoeGoaUK's friends posing for his poignant poop 
photos, to make a deposit daily into such a facility.The market value of the 
natural gas being produced  and the resulting savings from health costs 
avoidances would make this possible.

The Charism of Karuna: Life Story of Sister Karuna Mary Braganza brings you
a remarkably vivid picture of the life of one of our most inspiring
revolutionaries and leaders in education, Sr. Karuna Mary Braganza, the
first Indian Principal of Bombay’s famed Sophia College. It covers the
personal and spiritual journey of Sr. Braganza, describing the eco-social
environment of her childhood in Bandra, family events, school days, the
foundations of her spiritual vocation, college days in St. Xavier’s,
formation in RSCJ communities in England and Rome, and her dynamic
leadership of Sophia College. We learn how Sr. Karuna integrated the
charism of the Order with reading the signs of the times in post-colonial
India. The book describes how she radicalised education in India and Asia,
and covers her work of social transformation in the tribal belt of

The mass will be held at St Boniface Church, Tooting Broadway, London SW17 9PG 
at 1.30 p.m. this Sunday 20 November 2011. It is advisable to arrive by 1.15pm

the need for small states, but Mayawati taking the credit without
consulting the stake holders is felt abhorrent Congress under Indira Gandhi
had reservation about Harit Pradesh, being too close to the Delhi, Capital
city.On Bundelkand Congress has long expressed its wishBut there
are districts in M.P. with commonality of language, traditions, which want
to be a part of it.
BJPdid not consider Bundelkand Gorkaland, Bodoland Vidarbha, Telegana ,
where there are long pending demands and aspiration, as it did not suit
there agenda of convenience and no party accused it of not consulting other
parties and raising hue and cry Jarkand wanted districts of Orissa and West
Bengal , which were ignored. The states were carved out on linguistic
consideration and that was the biggest folly Normally the states Re
oranization commission normally considers long standing demands, considers
geographical contiguity among others and then sends it to the Parliament It
then sends it to states Assembly for their considerations , when all
parties concerned can have their say This commission functioning is
dictated discretely by the Govt in power and does not follow the same
standards, process, procedure and principles Just see the demand on
Telegana hanging fire with some excuses or the other Congress must first
address Telegana , in stead of criticising Mayawati. Belgaum is another
district claimed by Karantaka and Maharashtra and over the years seen many
bloody engagements, riots and protests In the process of bifurcating stats
we are going back to the history of India, then ruled by princess
Mayawati could perhaps taken the decision earlier in her rule , so as to
complete the process during her rein. But why did not any political party
consuder and move the proposal, now reacting in desperation of her move
with cabinet decision. Small states like Goa are easy to administer , but
the hidden intentions of protesters are to occupy the leadership of power
and influence, more than the welfare of the people.
If bifurcation of U.P is essential does it matter, who initiates the
process and when?Mayawati is independent. unilateral and evev as the
political stunt she has acted to fulfill the aspirations of all parties?
Any way the constitutional process will not be undermined in the final
analysis as so required Give the devil its due Many political parties make
all sorts of promises just before the elections and Mayawati alone cannot
be faulted in taking advantage and at least taking the much desired step

CHURCH FINALLY ADMITS OF SELLING VANXIM TO MAHENDRA GAUNEKAR. Emediavoices 
Goa.Wednesday - Nov 16, 2011After years of silence pause, the groomed spokesman 
for the Bishop of Goa, Fr. Caldeira, relative of Churchill has finally vomited 
the sale of Vanxim, the Santa Monica property to his most trusted friend and 
developer Mr. Mahendra Gaunekar. Expertise was used as a matter of fact by the 
Bishop office in a manner of secrecy to sell Vanxim. Not even the advertisement 
was ever printed in local or international media and as such it was a secretive 
or lucrative “Sale of Vanxim to Gaunekar”. Neither the residents, parishioners 
nor the neighbors were even given the smell for years until 13th of Nov 
2011.However the saint of the Indies inspired the spokesman of Bishop to vomit 
the secret vaults and the country in which they reside call “ The Bishop 
Palace” at Altinho Panjim. It’s unimaginable for Niz Goenkar to get the inner 
glimpses of this organization as featured outside the palace except the statue 
of Jesus Christ tormenting day and night for humanity. The priests in Goa after 
years of profession laments of the evils that persists in their administrative 
corridors as one priest narrated his part of the story “If you are a Brahmin or 
has an influence of a Brahmin priest, then you are bound to be posted in Goa 
Archdiocese or else see your self kicked out to missions”. If such practices 
are for their own disciples then the people of Goa can judge of their 
“Shepherd’s love towards them”. We managed in the past to interview Fr. Arlino 
Dmello and Fr. Victor (the main conspirators of selling Vanxim) and they never 
had the etiquette manner and considered us and rest of Goans as Dogs. Neither 
the RTI nor the SC of India can track any of their secret vaults or deals of 
Land selling oath in Goa. History will judge the Bishop Palace and not the 
media for Vanxim secretive deal. Even the Santa Monica nuns remained unknown of 
how Vanxim was sold except their hidden advocate called Monterio. Forget the 
hindu residents of Vanxim, even the Parishioners until this day was kept in a 
limbo. Washing dirty linen is a reverse osmosis in the present day because 
until this day the tenants of Vanxim were always blamed for selling the island. 
Can the world now conclude that it was now the “Bishop Palace has legally sold 
the island of Vanxim to Mr. Gaunekar”. The Bishop Palace has subjected the 
people of Vanxim on likes and dislikes and until this day some are given the 
privilege of Sale deeds or no deeds while he was so happy to offer deed of sale 
of the island (including tenanted lands) measuring 4,85,275* square meters @ Rs 
20/- to his best friend Mr. Mahendra Gaunekar. Yes the residents if aware could 
have purchased @ Rs 100/-…. But that would have been official and less amount. 
*inaccurate Area and may range much higher. Here the fact lies- The island of 
Vanxim was illegally sold by the Attorney of Bishop Palace, Fr. Arlino Dmello 
at undisclosed amount. Official record displays 55,04,150/- but actual amount 
transacts to 97,05,500/- plus underhand transaction and undisclosed land 
measurements. The undisclosed deal also covered the eviction of all the 
residents on the island; this includes both Hindus and Catholics. World can now 
read of these contents more clearly of the secretive deals and oaths which 
occurred at the corridors of Bishop Palace years ago. Niz Goenkar world can 
also judge how much tensions the people of Vanxim are undergoing on a daily 
basis. Yes but not the Bishop as he himself is now wrapped by the blanket of 
high profile corrupt political machinery of Goa. Yes the priests Fr. Arlino 
Dmello and Fr. Victor involved in the illegal deals are kept at low profile of 
old age and sickness. If ever allowed for interrogation the lucrative deals and 
secretive oaths of the priest’s, bishop and Mr. Mahendra Gaunekar can explode 
the Bishop Palace to its foundation. As one Niz Goenkar commenter wrote” It’s 
time for the people of Goa to boycott the Church” yeah this revelation will 
come sooner or later. What ever the sale- the people of Vanxim will never or 
ever except this deal and will die to protect your own Niz Goenkar island 
Vanxim from the clutches of Monsters like Mr. Mahendra Gaunekar and Ghantis 
Ozone group of Companies. The same Ghantis reversed Madras to Chennai, 
Bangalore to Bengalaru and now thirsty

The Advocate General of a State is a very high Constitutional authority
appointed under Article 165 of our constitution. The Governor of each State
appoints a person who is qualified to be appointed as a Judge of a High
Court to be the Advocate General of the State. The Advocate General has the
right to speak and take part in the proceedings of the State Legislature
but has no right to vote. He gives advice to the Government of the state on
legal matters and holds office during the pleasure of the Governor.



Several Advocate Generals in the country have been accused of wrong doings
but none anywhere close to the level of misconduct Goa’s current Advocate
General Mr. Subodh Kantak finds himself embroiled and entangled in. As
India’s highest paid Advocate General the allegations against Subodh Kantak
include the over billing in the Saleli case. As Advocate General Mr. Subodh
Kantak had appeared in the High Court on 27th January 2006 in the Saleli
case bail applications of 102 accused. Though it was a common argument
leading to a common judgment for the batch of bail applications,  Advocate
General Subodh Kantak raised a bill and was paid 102 times Rs 8000 i.e. Rs
eight lakhs sixteen thousand. On the other charges of professional
misconduct against him less said the better. With two complaints pending
against him, any Advocate General having some self-respect would have put
in his papers.



On August 6 1998 Orissa’s controversial Advocate General Indrajit Ray quit
as the demand for his dismissal had been a major issue for all Opposition
political parties in the state after having been charge sheeted by the
Central Bureau of Investigation in a molestation case.



In Nov 2004 the removal was sought of Kerala’s Advocate General, Ratna
Singh, for his alleged links with the mafia. It was alleged that a lottery
mafia, a sex mafia and a bail mafia were in operation at the Advocate
General's office and there was a demand that there should be an independent
inquiry into the activities of these mafia groups and the way they
obstructed justice.



On May 2005 Andhra Pradesh Advocate General D. Sudershan Reddy resigned
after failing to appear before the High Court for a hearing. The then Chief
Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy took serious note of the Advocate General’s
absence.



On 16th June 2009 citing personal reasons Uday Holla, Advocate General of
Karnataka resigned. It was however alleged that Holla was forced to resign
as in one case the government had appointed senior counsel VS Acharya
without consulting the Advocate General. It was also alleged that K
Diwakar, advisor to the chief minister and Holla differed on several
issues, including ensuring reservation to the backward section of the
Lingayat community which also forced him to tender his resignation.



Gujarat Advocate General Kamal Trivedi had been accused of constitutional
impropriety in giving an opinion to the state government to give 268
hectares of land in Bhavnagar district to Nirma Limited. The company was
being represented by a legal firm in which Trivedi was a partner before his
appointment as the Advocate General. The Advocate General’s wife is now a
partner in the legal firm Trivedi & Gupta.



Along side the controversial ones India has also seen some outstanding
Advocate Generals too. We have had J M Thakore, Gujarat's advocate-general
since 1960 being the nations’s longest serving Advocate General. He worked
under 27 state governments and 13 chief ministers, intersperse with five
spells of President's rule. Mr. Thakore had the unique and remarkable
distinction of holding the post of Advocate-General of Gujarat from the day
the state was formed till his death, period of over forty years. His fierce
independence, dedication to the profession and unimpeachable conduct
ensured that successive governments of widely differing political
ideologies continued to allow him to hold the post of AG.



The Punjab Advocate General H.S. Mattewal has the distinction of being
conferred the prestigious National Law Day Award for his unique
contribution in the field of constitutional law and unflinching support for
the promotion and development of rights guaranteed under the Constitution
of India. This award was given on the selection made by a distinguished
jury headed by former Chief Justice of India P.N. Bhagwati. Mattewal who
has the unique distinction of being the Advocate General of Punjab

big smiles on their faces. The Medical Examiner calls the police to show them 
what has happened. A Detective Inspector is sent and is taken to the first body.

Medical Examiner: He was a BJP leader, 67 years of age, a drug addict, died of 
heart failure while enjoying his usual drugs. Hence the enormous smile, 
Inspector. 
 
Inspector: Humm

The Detective Inspector is taken to the second dead man.

Medical Examiner : He was a minister from ruling Congress party, was 71, made a 
pile from government funds, and spent it all on liquor. Died of alcohol 
poisoning, hence the smile.
