[Goanet] Swift dezire

2012-07-31 Thread Nelson Lopes
SWIFT DEZIRE
Deliveries of these popular brands are held up due to closure of plant at
Manessar. It was murder of Mr Awinash, pre planned conspiracy The FIR has
not led to the arrest of ring leaders, but only nameless individuals so
far. The meeting was not abandon nor postponed or called off. Yet during
the course of the deliberation a group of workers barged in with chains,
rods, pipes, hence it could not be spontaneous, dressed in company
fatigues,They failed to identify even their own labour leader Were they ,
hired goons? Selectively and purposefully bludgeoned the official to death
and set him ablaze Though some workers and other officials were also
injured, the target was Awinash. The posse of 50 policemen, though inside
the premises did not anticipate and misjudged the violence.Though they were
outnumbered and acted late, they salvaged the situation, even with injuries
There was no inclination or anticipation of violence by the Management at
the conciliatory meeting and hence elaborate security arrangement was not
reinforced A fetish is being made that the focus is only on the Management
cadre, ignoring other seriously wounded labour official in the negotiations
The plant, after being in existence for 24 years plus does not have
registered trade union to represent and bargain the demands of the workers
The rights of the workers are denied by oblique discouragement and subtle
pressures by the Management. If there were no irritation between workers ,
Management relations, what were the prolonged negotiations aimed at? ,The
management have flexibility of hire and fire, which subdues the workers in
expressing their legitimate rights All disputes must be addressed
expeditiously without allowing them to fester and complicate issues.Taking
shelter in statistics that the state has 11000 industrial units and 3
incidents is self comforting and escapism to avoid existence of tensions
The other bone of contention is that contract labour being denied equal
wages for equal work, which amounts to exploitation of labour force .There
is a wide wage disparity between the highest and lowest worker to about 800
times. The incentives given to the regular workers could
be proportionately extended to the contract labour too.Consideration need
to be given to the problems face by the Management due to economic slow
down and depression in demands all over These issues can only be discussed
in atmosphere of trust , mutual interests Hence human relations in the
industry must continuously address these concerns in a determined ,focused,
regular manner
The incident has repercussions in attracting FDI and investors in the state
It is a coincidence that Modi was wooing investment from Japan to impute
motives of fermenting the situation. The workers and the ancillary
industries are hard hit and so also the retail business The unrest and
gruesome killing and burning of Mr Awinash cannot be wished away.
The perpetrators of this ghastly incident must be brought to justice
quickly to uphold the rule of law The state might see the flight
of Industries as in west Bengal Finally, labour and Mangement relations
lead to production and growth and the workers must be allowed to share in
the prosperity of the Industry In Japan, their workers rarely migrate and
spend their working life in same industry and the reasons are there for
Management Gurus, as the sign posts of harmonious relations
The sacrifice and untimely death of Awinash must not go in vain. Though the
company will substantially compensate the Official, the cause could be
avoided in future

[Goanet] The towering relevance of Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar in Goa

2012-07-31 Thread sebastian Rodrigues

http://bharatmukti.blogspot.in/2012/07/the-towering-relevance-of-drbabasaheb.html

It was on this day 31st July in 1937 that Dr.
Bhimrao Ambedkar had predicted that in the times ahead there will be freedom of
Brahmins to rule over us and we have to organize to fight it. He delivered his
speech
in Dhule, Maharashtra. In 1937 Brahmins had only one political party namely
Congress Party. In the same speech Vishwratna Mahamanav Dr.Bhimarao Ambedkar
said “From the analysis of Congress politics if I had to conclude anything then
I can see only one conclusion and that is prosperity of Brahmins.”

What Dr. Ambedkar said in 1937 has come true completely. The
entire country has been ruled by Brahmins to affect their own prosperity and
prosperity of their caste allies. Today there are many Brahmanical Parties in
India besides Congress. BJP is also one of them. MGP is another one. Both these
parties together are ruling in Goa. Mulnivasis are  organizing to revolt against
the Bamon Raj in Goa. Bharat Mukti Morcha (BMM) is getting increasing
acceptance.  As a result Bamons and their
cronies are getting jittery and are trying various means to suppress mulnivasi
people in Goa.

Today Brahminical government has sent call letter to Vincent
Dias, an activist of BMM from Colomba, Sanguem under section 149 of CrPC that
empowers police officer to summon any one for investigation to prevent
commissioning
of cognizable offence and make that person wait endlessly at the police station
with the intention of demoralizing the movement. This time the target of Home
Minister and Chief Minister Bamon Manohar Parrikar is Roman Catholic mulnivasi
Vincent Dias. This call letter comes after less than a week Rama Velip was
subjected to Police Harassment.

Vincent Dias is called at the Police Station at
16.00 hours on 1st August 2012. Bharar Mukti Morcha once again
condemns police harassment of Colomba villagers agitating to overthrown Bamon
Raj in India. Police harassment like this will only speed up the spread of BMM
across the state of Goa. The days are over when mulnivasis people of Goa were
fooled by
Bamons and the days of their rule over mulnivasis are numbered.

Today BMM Marmagoa Taluka President
Nadeem Ahmed, a mulnivasi Muslim from Vasco received a call from the
mobile number 8104774200 wherein the speaker claimed
to be speaking from Intelligence bureau, Delhi Police at 11.15 am. The
speaker
refused to disclose his name told Nadeem that arrest warrant has been
issued against him as the case against him has been filed in Delhi under
 section 420 of Indian
Penal Code and Goa Police will make arrest. Interestingly he also gave
the
phone number of one Advocate Bharatwaj as 09828184311 to know more
details
about this matter. However every time this number was dialed response
was that
it is switched off.  This is an act of
suppressing liberation movement of mulnivasi people of India and deserves
fitting retaliation. Bharat Mukti Morcha condemns pressure tactics against BMM
Marmagoa Taluka, President Nadeem Ahmed. This kind of pressure tactics proves
the effectiveness of Bharat Mukti Morcha activities in Goa. BMM takes strong
objections to the vested interests trying to pressurize Bharat Mukti Morcha
activists across the State of Goa.

The two incidents of the day points out to the increasing relevance
of thoughts of Mahamanav Dr.Bhimrao Ambedkar and BMM stands committed in its
resolve to continue its struggle with determination.

Other wise lets become like China with its State Interests. In many ways,
its all connected but Konkani and the Romi script does not get the same

Other things could also happens. At Santan, Talaulim the confessionals for
the Portuguese (women presumably) could be reached through the thick walls.
Imagine our politicians using the opportunity to commiserate instead of
giving lip.

Now that there are no restrictions on the Latin Mass (all three, high,
low...) it would be good to support such initiatives, and that Church would
be a splendid place to have Latin mass, even if once a month. (No Modern
arguments about priests not facing people etc,, please). We know who is
modern and when; have all attended enough Youth masses; and seen enough. I
am no conservative, but a lot has been lost.

Post, Vat II (VAT 69), a lot has been lax, including how the Blessed
Sacrament is approached. Hope priests, deacons and laity know this when
they take anyone, including the POLS to show them the church. Feel free to
hop and skip on way to the confessionals (I remember the 10' wide walls).

[Goanet] Attempting Change via video petitions

2012-07-31 Thread Venantius J Pinto
Shaming is a one to get people, systems to change. This usually happens
when there is something at stake and takes ingenuity to let people see for
themselves, without insulting power. To insult power is not easy and should
not be engaged in willy-nilly by those who do not understand the
ramifications of doing so. Video and video petitions are a good way to do
things, and the video later can even be part of ones resume, application
packages, etc. I feel there is tremendous opportunity for this medium in
India, and am thinking of those who have video cams as well as the concern

[Goanet] Goa beyond India (The Goan on Saturday)

2012-07-31 Thread Constantino Xavier
Goa Beyond India

Constantino Xavier
http://thegoan.net/story.php?id=67

India is in the global headlines again, and this time for all the bad
reasons. It now has a Prime Minister who is deemed to be an
“underachiever”, its economic growth sank to “a mere” six per cent, and
foreign investment is “rejected” in the midst of large corruption scandals.

The golden reforms era that propelled the country to rookie superpower
status in the early 2000s seems to have come to a sudden stop.

Who to blame for this gloomy scenario? Many, for sure, but India’s regional
states in particular. Whether on foreign investment in the retail sector,
water sharing agreements with Bangladesh, or the establishment of a
National Counter Terrorism Centre, India’s big states are all playing an
increasingly influential and – yes, let’s face it – obstructionist role
that New Delhi is struggling to overcome.

This is part of a centre-state balance that is threatening to tilt in
favour of the states, especially big ones.In the minds of Delhi’s federal
politicians and policymakers, the competition between these colossal
regional forces, from Kashmir to Karnataka and from Gujarat to Assam, will
always smash tiny Goa into oblivion.

That is the cost for being a disproportionately wealthy and small state in
a large electoral democracy. Goa represents only 0.1 per cent of the
India’s total population and territory, 0.4 per cent of the country’s total
wealth, and it sends a mere two out of 545 representatives to the Lok Sabha
(0.004 per cent of the voting share).

But Goa is also India’s richest state with a per capita income almost three
times higher than the national average, the Eleventh Finance Commission
ranks it first in infrastructure, and it offers the best quality of life
according to the National Commission on Population.

There are two ways Goa can respond to this paradox. One is to remain
sitting at the sidelines of Delhi’s giant matches, whining and hoping for
some fortunate attention.

Another, more productive approach is to change its perspective and, instead
of the traditional inward look across the Ghats and towards the Northern
hinterland, now shift its focus to the ocean and revive the dormant links
that once made it a strategic hub in the first wave of globalization after
the 15th century.

This extrovert reorientation does not preclude Goa from continuing to lobby
Delhi and perform its federal obligation by advocating for its interests
domestically, also because these may be for the common good of other small,
and maybe even also big states.

But no longer can Goa’s comparative wealth and advantage remain ignored and
unexplored, especially in an era in which other Indian states have started
to develop their own foreign policies and respective institutions, whether
to attract foreign investment or manage their regional diasporas.

Goa is in a privileged position to ride this new wave of globalization and
explore the geo economic shift from a world traditionally revolving around
the Euro-American transatlantic axis to one anchored in the Asia-Pacific.

No other Indian state has such rich historical links with, and expertise on
a variety of crucial countries and world-cities, from São Paulo to
Singapore, and from Maputo to Macau. No other part of India had such a long
connection to the modern West (451 long years) and to South America, Africa
and East Asia at the same time.

This is the old Indian Ocean region coming to life again in an expanded
version now also known as the Indo-Pacific (or maybe Indo-Atlantic?). Goa
is close, but not too close to Mumbai, and it is small, but not too small
to be reduced to a little casino paradise.

This is the time to think how to make bestuse of its global comparative
advantage. If it plays its cards right, in a near future Goa will not only
get New Delhi’s, but the whole world’s attention.

valuable information (History) what I am trying to say that it was simply
fantastic and was very well received. We had a full house and had to turn a
lot of people away because of the fire code, having reached our hall
capacity, I was amazed that throughout the presentation there was pin drop
silence and one could see the expressions on their faces of how much Mr.
Lobo knew the history of the Goans. The buzz in the hall was how little we
know about ourselves. I now have a different out look about our people
particularly with all the bickering amongst ourselves and how passive we
are. I am convinced that it is lack of knowledge and our up-bringing.

I was also surprised that so many people were asking questions which meant
they were listening. I have received many e-mails and complements of how
well we did. One party has also come forward and offered to pay the full
cost of providing us a Web Site and so on. In conclusion, my plea to the
people was to pressure all the Presidents of the Goan Organizations that
they belong to, to take active part in what is going on in Goa. By the way
although invitations were sent to all the Presidents, none came.

Kind regards,
Eddie.
