COWARDS !
If it was I in that gang 'sur-ing' it up accross, this pick up would never
empty it's load into the river.
How will the authorities check this out if this COWARD did not even take
down the Registration plate number of the vehicle?

And he has the chick to post this here? For whose benefit???

This is why Goa needs SU-RAJ PARTY which I have founded with a few others,
So that these COWARDS may call it SUR Party.

Shame on COWARD MOIDEKARS.

PS: There was a time some few years ago when a full truck of toxic waste
from some toxic factory in Goa unloaded it's load into the river at the NH17
Bypass bridge between Mapusa Juction and Green Park Hotel in the dead of the
night and all the fish had floated up come morning. I was at Canacona's
Mallikarjun College that day delivering a lecture to the students on
environment. My good friend Architect Leonel Costa (A CONCERNED MOIDEKAR)
phoned me to tell me the story with a heavy heart. I asked him to do me a
favour and to go to 'JYOTI Studio' in Mapusa and get that guy to photograph
the dead fish. This was done. Next morning, I took these photographs and
accosted the Chairman of the GSPCB who immediately ordered a probe and
testing of the water. It is another story altogether that nothing ever came
up of this, because, THIS IS THE LAND OF COWARDS where 'Maka Kiteak
Podlam?" IS THE FAVOURITE PAST TIME.

Manohar-bab is another COWARD GOAN who catches his officer red-handed taking
a bribe and instead of sacking him, kicks him upstairs with a promotion. And
his favourite past time is 'THIS IS NOT MY PRIORITY and ... THAT IS NOT
MY PRIORITY' ... but bulshitting GOANS is his number one PRIORITY. Having
the garbage at his door step at his Khorlim-Mapusa Residence is not his
PRIORITY.

PS2: I am copying this to Manohar-bab so that he knows that I have said
this.

Subject: [Goanet] Caught in the act

It was on the 1st September, 2012, that we witnessed this act of
environmental destruction,

There is a place in Mapusa on the southern bank of the Mapusa Tar river
which has been acquired by the Mapusa Municipal Council from Bastora
Comunidade/ Panchayat to facilitate the Ganesh immersions. This place is
paved and has gates through which vehicles can come right up to the river
bank.

This appears to be a regular operation and needs to be checked by the
authorities.

Folks,
From July 11 – 31, 41 pianos were installed across Toronto in celebration of
the three-year countdown to the TORONTO 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games.  The 41
pianos represent the 41 countries participating in the TORONTO 2015 Games and
each was painted by an artist from the country it represents.  The pianos were
located in public parks, streets and squares for any member of the public to
play and enjoy.  Here is the link to different people playing the Maple Leaf

Roland,
The Masai are a smart tribe. In fact, they are one of the few tribes that have
managed to enter the 21st Century with most of their customs and religious
believes intact. A Masai was Prime Minister of Tanzania and at least two were
Kenyan Vice-Presidents.  One of the Kenyan Vice-Presidents was the child of a
Goan man and Masai women.

Our medical doctor at the Govt hospital we used to go to in the 1960's, was a
Masai women. If you google "Masai women with PhD's", you will find that a lot
of Masai women have earned one. And that to in almost every field. Your
statement that Teriano Lesancha is the first Masai women to earn a Bachelor's
degree is a really lame one, the product of laziness. Anyone, but anyone, can
parrot what they have just read in the Toronto newspapers.

As an anecdote, when the Catholic Masai P.M. (and at the time Nyerere's heir)
was killed in a car crash in the 1980's, the country found out that he had four
wives. He married the first one in church. Since he could not marry the others
in church, he did so by tribal custom and then registered the polygamous
marriages with the civic authorities.  One of his widows has been quoted as
saying, and this is a rough translation, "I preferred to be the third wife of
him, a first class man, than the first wife of a third class man."

For those interested, here is a link to a recent article on a Masai women who
is strongly in love with playing cricket. I posted this earlier on another
forum:

Re: [Goanet] Honouring our community, those who lived and are still living in East Africa

2012-09-03 Thread Vivian A. DSouza
Regarding those of us who lived in East Africa...my wife and I have nothing
but the fondest memories of our lives in Tanzania, the land of our birth, where
we were educated, got married and had two of our children.

We did not have much money, and we lived in relatively cramped quarters, but
those were the best days of our lives, bar none.  We have lived in other
countries since leaving Tanzania, earned much more money, lived in much bigger
homes in relative luxury.  Yet nothing can compare with the life we had in
Tanzania.  Every single ex-Tanzanian I have talked to, has expressed the same
sentiments.  The Goan Tanzanian spirit is celebrated in
style in Toronto which hosts the annual Tanzanite picnic and the Grand
Tanzanite Ball.
While I speak about Tanzania, I am sure the same holds true for Goans who lived
in Kenya and Uganda  In fact Goanetters Merwyn Maciel and Braz Menezes have
penned books that reflects their love for the people and the lives that they
lived in Kenya.

While there still are quite a few Goans mostly in Kenya and Tanzania, those of
us who
left those countries, had no alternative, because of the Africanization of the
positions we held mostly in Government service.  We were not bitter, because in
my opinion, it was
only just that the indigenious people of those countries were given the
opportunity to
govern themselves. It was time for us to move on and seek greener pastures.

I continue to have the greatest respect for the Africans.  Having visited
Tanzania twice
since migrating out of there,,  on my return I was welcomed warmly, and was
even told on two separate instances,  that  I was a "brother" and I should come
back home.  Of course
conversing in fluent Kiswahili was very helpful. The Tanzanian African
considers hinself
second to none.  I found the younger generation, who have no memory of the
colonial era to be self confident, well educated, very efficient in what they
do and very friendly.

I have not read Selma's narrative on her East African Goans project.
Unfortunately, she was picked on because of her description of some of the older
folks from East Africa.
I look forward to reading her book or narrative, and meeting her in person some
day.
She is a talented writer and her contribution to this forum is sorely missed.
I sincerely
hope that after a period of reflection, she will return to this forum.

Frederick and all,
It is the same forum. but the name at first was not goanet. I am quite sure it
was goacom.com. Marlon came into the picture later on when a Node was
established in Panjim Goa in addition to the one in USA/Canada by Herman. I was
using my first PC at work with RMIT UNI, in early 1995 then, when I discovered
this; after that I bought and had my own PC at Home in  late1995. It was then I
used to boast to my colleagues that a small entity like Goa had a website
running and most Govts. of the day did not have one
.That is the Great Achievement of Herman; It was all broadcast from USA.
I think Marlon was resident in Goa then, true goenkar! still with sheeth koddi!
Then when the decision was taken to put up a Node in Goa, that is when Marlon
was inducted, I think. We were then worried that the Forum might Fail as power
outages in Goa were a dozen a day then! Marlon and his Dad, may have used
portable diesel generators.
Those were the pioneering days in these ventures!
Then suddely came the Big Split; and goanet was started with the New Name and
completely divorced from goacom.com. I do not know, who divorced whom; or if
any Dowry was given or contemplated.
That is the history as I remember it. I was one of the earliest subscriber to
the forum and Proud of it!

dear Jose;
It is not fiction. I have been with the forum as the earliset subscriber since

I had a job with RMIT UNI in Melbourne where I had a PC on my work desk; as I
was in charge of a team working with 'monitoring and remote control systems'
for the 16 modern buildings on the Citi Campus. Honeywell and Siemens

It is high time Goans demand that the, now the more credible government, takes
away the age old system of powerful mining companies who are selling Goa's ore,
for hugely enriching their personal fortunes. These resources are not the
domain of these private mining thieves and instead belong to the state and all
Goans. I support the call by the Goa Foundation and other respected
enviromentalists to the Goa Government, to terminate the mining leases

[Goanet] Bamani victimization of Vanxim people: electric power supply denied for 14 hours

2012-09-03 Thread sebastian Rodrigues

http://bharatmukti.blogspot.in/2012/09/bamani-victimization-of-vanxim-people.html

According
 to
the just received information people of Vanxim are being subjected to
the electric victimization due to the strong opposition to the golf
course,
casinos, spa, helipad project in Vanxim. Indian Central government has
sanctioned Rs 40 lakh for the construction of retaining
wall in Vanxim to provide protection to the water bodies that has been
demarcated in draft RP-2021 as settlement zone for 'hotel project only'
in survey number 8 of
Vanxim village in Sao Mathias Panchayat jurisdiction in Tiswadi taluka
of
India’s Goa State. This is done to facilitate
Bamon Mahendra Gaonekar’s plans for Golf tourism in Vanxim. Golf tourism
 in Goa
has faced strong opposition in Goa ever since it was proposed in 1992
and eight
golf course projects are stalled due to opposition.

Vanxim
villagers are opposed to this project promoted by Bamon Mahendra Gaonekar in
collaboration with a corporate body – Ozone group. Sao Mathias Panchayat was
forced to block this retaining wall after local Panch Greeta Vaz expressed her
opposition to the same. Panchayat however instead of rejecting the retaining
wall project has kept it on hold in the hope of diluting the opposition to the
same.

Yesterday 2nd
September 2012 Ilha de Vanxim Association evening organised meeting in Vanxim
to oppose the retaining wall and decide future course of action to oppose bamon
inspired retaining wall in Vanxim. As soon as meeting started power failures
took place five times till 11.00 pm. Street lights were went off. Then at
11.45 pm again power was off and till
the last report came in at 2.00 pm on 3rd September the power was
off non stop for the period of 14 hours.
Engineer Shekar Dhulapkar who is in charge of the electricity supply has been a
failure to rectify the situation in spite of public phone calls complaining
about the power failures in Vanxim. Maggie Silveira, Mahila Aghadi Goa State
Chief
of Bharat Mukti Morcha spoke to Engineer Dhulpkar on the power failure in
Vanxim and resultant negative consequences such as non working of electric
gadgets such as Refrigerators, Cooking gadgets, Fish tanks and the losses
suffered
due the non-availability of power supply.

It was
decided to introduce regular patrolling
by electricity department linesmen for the maintainance of electricity
infrastructure
in Vanxim village in the last gram Sabha on 22nd July 2012. It is learned that
Panchayat secretary delayed writing of minutes for the reasons
best known to him. As a result pace of implementation of this decision has been
delayed too yet the reasons are not beyond understanding of discerning mind:
Bamon Raj.

According
 to
the information available this move has been planned as a revenge
against the
villagers opposing Bamon Gaunekar promoted Golf Course project in
Vanxim. Vanxim
villagers has been battling this project ever since they came to know
about it
in February 2010. The main culprit in this sale of Vanxim has been the
Archbishop of Goa Diocese Bamon Felipe Neri Ferrao on whose behalf
Vanxim has
been sold in 2006 and people are forced into combat mode. His office has
facilitated the Bamon-Corporate nexus against the interest of the
mulnivasi
people.

The electric
victimization of Vanxim people will only further intensify the agitation against
Bamon Raj in Goa. Denial of electricity power will only intensify the
unleashing of mulnivasi power sooner than later.

Dear Roland, I don't see it as very "true" because the subtle
propaganda here is that the USA "was" a great nation. Is that really
so? And if so, when *was* it? AFAIK, it has been the Empire since at
least 1945, if not longer than that.

Of course, 1776 and all that is the stuff that fires the imagination
of most, and one might look up to *some* (not all) of the values
dating back to those times. But let us not forget that even there too
there are some little-spoken of realities. Like the attempt to play
off one colonial power of the times against another, and benefit from
the process. See
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/France_in_the_American_Revolutionary_War

Take a look at the US record of overseas interventions, and forget all
this talk of fighting for democracy or whatever:
http://academic.evergreen.edu/g/grossmaz/interventions.html It's not
just Republicans versus Democrats; it's something far deeper.

If at all the US was "great", one has to concede that it has had a
great propaganda machine. Just like those who argue that India has
always been a peaceful power, etc, etc. Scratch deeper, and the
reality is quite something else. FN

[Goanet] Saligao's Denzil Franco wins Nehru Cup 2012 with Indian National Team

2012-09-03 Thread Frederick FN Noronha फ्रेड्रिक नोरोन्या *فريدريك نورونيا
Many Congratulations to Denzil Franco from Muddavaddo Saligao who won an
international tournament, the Nehru Cup 2012, held in New Delhi. The finals
were played yesterday (2 Sep, 2012) and India beat favourites Cameroon who
are ranked 109 places above India in FIFA rankings. Denzil put in a strong
performance and scored one of the winning penalty goals.

This is the second international tournament Denzil has won for India, the
first being the AFC's SAFF Cup 2009 held in Dhaka, where he also scored the
final winning penalty goal. He is a regular player with the Indian National
Football team and has represented India right from the Under-19 level up to
Senior level competing in events in Turkmenistan, Bangladesh, Portugal,
Maldives, Malaysia, Qatar, UAE and Sri Lanka.

At Club level he currently plays for I-League powerhouse Churchill
Brothers, and in the past has played for Salgaocar Sports Club, Sporting
Clube de Goa, and Mahindra United. Denzil is a product of the Sesa Football
Academy where he was recently felicitated for being India's outstanding
player after graduating from the Academy.

Denzil did his schooling in Lourdes Convent before moving onto to St
Anthony's HS Monte de Guirim where he was trained by Saligao legend,
Francis D'Souza. His parents are Avelina & Joe Franco. More pictures and
