[Goanet] GOAN SOCIAL MEDIA CONVULSES OVER MAUVIN GODINHO ORANGE DHOTI

2015-09-09 Thread Stephen Dias
--
People have not to worry about the dress code of orange dhoti of Mauvin
Godinho because Pope is in the process of solving many issues which
Catholics are facing, first he did abortion to get them pardoned, second
the migrants who had been distressed are now been given solution that they
can be given shelter at people homes , the third is on the way that Pope
is likely to announce changes for divorcees Catholics and fourth on
homosexuality and the last and not the least which Godinho is one step
forward knowing that Pope will come to his rescue that anybody can have any
dress code for puja prayers so that any GOD can be approached for their
needs. Viva Boray and have fun at the cost of Vatican new Pope.

There is a major tsunami among Goans on social media over photographs of
Mauvin Godinho in a splendid blazing orange silk dhoti and a shawl covering
his chest offering puja and taking prasad at Rastroli temple at Vaddem,
Vasco. He has been leaning towards the saffron party for a good while now,
even before Manohar Parrikar, his once sworn enemy, left for greener
pastures as Union Minister of Defence. Mauvin has acknowledged work done in
his constituency by the ruling party and has criticised his Congress party
almost continuously even when his party was in power in the State.

All the signs point to Mauvin Godinho joining the BJP, but all the signs
have been there in the recent past too and nothing happened. So why all the
drama and dress up? You can take prasad wearing shirt and trousers. You
don't need to dress as a priest performing the puja. But Mauvin went one
step futher. He performed the puja too. If he is a devout Cristao, he is
surely going to fall foul of his parish priest. Number One in the Ten
Commandments which as everyone knows is written in stone, is: "*I am the
Lord thy God, thou shalt not have other gods before me*." You break a
commandment that is a Mortal Sin, which can get you into big trouble with
the clergy, Vatican and God himself. But as any punner will tell you, "Aw,
poor Mauvin, Vatican do? He wants the blessings of his voters."

The reason is not far see. The demographic of the vote bank is changing.
You are getting more and more uneducated migrants coming, collecting their
ration card, Aadhar card and voter's ID, who will be favourable impressed
seeing pictures of a local MLA dressed like a man with spiritual leanings
towards their religion.

This first image taken from the Goa Speaks group on Facebook should answer
the reality facing Goa today. He's a clever fellow, this Mauvin Godinho.
This is a sensible thing that he is doing. A politiican needs all the
leverage he can to stay in power. Look at the names on this Panchayat
bye-election results. Notice how Naiks, Sardesais, Pereiras and D'Silvas
are missing in action.

*POLITICS IS ALL ABOUT PERCEPTION - Changing demographics calls for
changing game plans to stay in power*

*Anyone can offer puja in some Hindu temples even Mauvin Godinho*

*Mauvin needs all the leverage he can get, especially blessings from the
gods.*

Subject: [Goanet] India, that is Bharat

Only in India's convoluted politics, which is amply demonstrated in the
goings-on of Bombay's Sheena Bora murder case, do the following things happen:

The city's Police Commissioner takes a hands -on, as opposed to supervisory
role, in the investigation even quizzing the main suspects himself - a strange
occurrence.

The police are outrun by the media, who have located suspects while the police
have still been looking for them (shades of the Pacheco case on Goa). In
Bombay, the media has better investigators than the police.

The Home Dept of the state suddenly 'exits' the Police Commissioner/Chief
Investigator, saying that too much attention has been paid to the case by him.
Yet strangely while transferring him in a promotion, he is still kept in charge
of the case though another PC has been appointed for Bombay.

The Police can't make up their mind whether the exhumed 2 year old body of the
24 year old murdered woman is the person she is supposed to be despite DNA
tests. This allows the alleged 43 year old murderer (the mother who says she is
really her sister) to confess one day and retract the next.

Tremendous police resources are used on the case. Imagine 40 policemen
escorting each suspect to questioning and to court and there are about 6 to 7
of them who have close connection to the case. Yet no clear motive has been
linked to the murder.

To those who can read between the lines, the money power and police corruption
is as thick as the sludge in the oil sands. On top of that, one call from some
political biggie sends the police deliberately in another direction. Again as
in the Pacheco case.

Years ago, a city inspector of police proudly told me that the Bombay Police
comes right after Scotland Yard in crime detection. "Dream on" I told him.

The actual fact is that the Bombay Police usually get their man (or woman)
through a systemic third degree procedure with connected culprits. What they do
or can do (the courts throw out such evidence) with the information thus
obtained is another matter.

Roland.

[Goanet] Masters Thesis

2015-09-09 Thread J Menezes
Dear Sir/ Madame,

Good afternoon!

I hope you can help me. I am writing my thesis on the migration between Goa
and Portugal post colonialism. Its been 450 years since liberation and yet
Goan's have an affinity to migrate, what and why is this calling so strong.

What is the benefits of this migration , how is it effecting the Goan
economy and how are the Portuguese reacting to this constant flow of Goan's?

Hope to hear from you soon

Thank you in advance.

[Goanet] (IN)JUSTICE MOHIT SHAH TO FINALLY RETIRE

2015-09-09 Thread Aires Rodrigues
While Mohit Shah will spend his last night today as the Chief Justice, let
us hope and pray that the long comatised Bombay High Court regains
Consciousness tomorrow.

With that failed dream of elevation to the Supreme Court , Mohit Shah
Shah who has been stagnating as Chief Justice of Bombay High Court since 26
th June 2010 retires tomorrow.

In March 2013 the collegium of the Supreme Court had rejected his name for
elevation on the ground that he was not suitable to be a Supreme Court
Judge and that his elevation would prove to be counter-productive and not
conducive to the administration of justice. It is an irony that someone
found unsuitable to be a Supreme Court judge was allowed to continue so
long as the Chief Justice of a very key High Court. God save our Judiciary
from being a failing institution with declining standards of integrity.

Caroline Kennedy had said “The bedrock of our democracy is the rule of law
and that means we have to have an independent judiciary, judges who can
make decisions independent of the political winds that are blowing“

But sadly the Judiciary in India is also visibly sliding down the tube with
these dark days looming. The very sanctity and independence of the
Judiciary is at stake. Very disturbing signs that the Judiciary is being
reduced to a mouth piece of the government. Courts may end up as dens of
chicanery and jugglery.

India’s Middle-Class Revolt

http://www.nytimes.com/2015/09/08/opinion/indias-middle-class-revolt.html?action=click=Homepage=opinion-c-col-left-region=opinion-c-col-left-region=opinion-c-col-left-region&_r=0

By THE EDITORIAL BOARDSEPT. 7, 2015

Protests by members of a relatively prosperous caste in India who want
to be included in affirmative action programs highlight a major problem:
India isn’t creating enough good jobs. This is a big challenge to Prime
Minister Narendra Modi, who has built his political career on promises
to reform and modernize the stalled economy.

Different groups of Indians have often demanded government jobs and
university admissions that are set aside for people from tribal
communities and the lowest rungs of the caste system who are among the
poorest in the country. But the recent protests by the Patel clan, of
the Patidar caste, are significant because the group is part of the
middle class and is from Gujarat, a state that grew rapidly when Mr.
Modi ran it for 12 years before becoming prime minister last year.

The fact that 500,000 Patels, who have been a big part of Mr. Modi’s
electoral base, attended a rally late last month to press their demands
is a rebuke of the prime minister’s economic policies.

The Patidar campaign, which is led by a 22-year-old firebrand named
Hardik Patel, seeks a bigger slice of the economic pie. But no matter
how officials decide to allot government quotas for the underprivileged,
the main problem is that there is not enough pie to go around.

With half of India’s 1.2 billion people 25 or younger, the need to
create more jobs is acute. Nearly half of all workers are employed in
agriculture, a sector that produces just 17 percent of the gross
domestic product. And most of the rest not in agriculture — about 85
percent in 2012, the latest year for which there is data — work for
employers with fewer than 20 employees.

It should come as no surprise that young Indians, especially those in
the middle class like the Patels, are frustrated. Many have college
degrees but still cannot land the kinds of professional jobs that they
want. About 25 percent of college-age Indians were enrolled in higher
education in 2013, up from 11 percent in 2003, according to the World Bank.

In theory, the increased number of educated workers should help to
expand the manufacturing and service sectors. But companies in India are
unable or unwilling to expand because it is so hard to operate there.

Chronic energy shortages, for example, make it expensive or impossible
to set up factories in many parts of the country. Federal and state
labor laws requiring that large companies get government approval before
laying off workers encourage businesses to stay small or hire contract
workers. And it can be very difficult to enforce contracts, because
Indian courts are backlogged with cases that drag on for years.

Before last year’s election, Mr. Modi promised to create jobs by
applying policies he had used to spur the Gujarat economy. So far, he
has not been able to change many laws at the national level. And the
protests in his home state raise serious questions about how successful
his policies were for the average resident of Gujarat.

Mr. Modi now has less than four years before the next national
parliamentary election to make good on his campaign pledge. If he
doesn’t show results soon, the young electorate that swept him into
national office could just as easily vote him out.

Revolution and its sizzling Economic Revolution. But you haven't heard
about its other great social upheaval - the Chinese Sexual Revolution -
and like everything in that country it's happening at warp speed. It's
China's version of the 60s revolution - on steroids.

China's Sexual Revolution is the world's first glimpse - often using
secret cameras - into this forbidden new China. It's a surprising
portrait of the Chinese today: the new free love generation that's left
their parents in shock; the booming sex industry that's creating an HIV
crisis; the new generation of career women and feminists that suddenly
wants it all - while millions of men feel left out.

This long untold story goes back to the days of Chairman Mao, who made
sexuality a great taboo. He ordered everyone to wear unisexual Mao
suits, and forbid women from wearing sexy clothing, getting stylish
haircuts, or even wearing make-up. Men and women were expected to be
comrades - not lovers - though Mao himself enjoyed an emperor's sex
life, seeking virgins to retain his "youth".

China's sexual libido was bottled up for 50 years, but now it's bursting
loose, with dramatic effects on marriage, personal freedom and the
government itself.

[Goanet] GOA’S POLITICAL STINKING ROT

2015-09-09 Thread Aires Rodrigues
It is Political Prostitution to the hilt. It is not for the love of God but
for Mauvin Godinho’s lust and desperation for Power.

While loud preaching and vowing of Zero Tolerance to corruption, the
BJP government has appointed as Chairman of the South Goa Planning and
Development Authority the awfully tainted Dabolim MLA Mauvin Godinho who is
the prime accused in the infamous multi crore Power scam case now pending
in the Supreme Court.

Manohar Parrikar and Mauvin Godinho had accused each other of cheating
and corruption. While Manohar Parrikar had filed a complaint
against Mauvin Godinho alleging a multi crore power scam while he was Power
Minister, Mauvin Godinho had accused Manohar Parrikar as Chief Minister of
gross and rampant corruption during IFFI 2004.

Now for sheer political expediency, the two have embraced and are so
intimately in love singing and showering praises galore on each other.
Politics makes strange bedfellows. Even those in the world's oldest
profession do it better.

*INDIA DESERVES TO RANKED HIGHER, CERTIFIES QUIEROZ*

*By Joseph Solomon,*

*AIFF Media Team*

*BENGALURU:* Stephen Constantine’s India came in for lavish praise from his
Iranian counterpart Carlos Quieroz at the Official post match Media
Interaction.

“India were not sitting down and defending at all. The played aggressive
Football and they were pressurizing us and that left some of my Players
surprised and confused. They were creating problems for us in the middle of
the park. They were aggressive,” he maintained.

“They (India) were really close to scoring in the first half. Sunil
(Chhetri) was initiating a lot of attacks for them,” the former Real Madrid
Manager added.

“After having Turkmenistan and Guam, I can say India deserve to be ranked
much higher. They were never defensive,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Head Coach of the Indian National Team Stephen Constantine
stressed on the importance of matches against the very best in the
business, after India went down fighting 3-0 to 40th ranked Iran on
Tuesday (September 08, 2015).

Speaking in the official post match press conference, Constantine said,
“You need to play games against the very best in the World.”

“These boys dint play a competitive game for 3 months and they performed
like that today. It was evident that we do have potential, we just need
some time and matches,” he echoed.

The Indian National Team displayed an ironical new found courage today,
given Iran are 40th in the World, and gave their opponents a run for their
money.

Saluting the attitude of the Indian contingent, Constantine expressed: “We
worked very hard and we gave them a very tough match. And it would be fair
to say that we made the match difficult for them.”

“I am more than pleased with the fighting spirit and the never-say-die
attitude showcased today by the Indian Team,” he added.

Constantine also informed that this might be an inception of a new India-
one which is hungry, attacking and instilled with a fighting attitude. “I
don’t want to sit back and defend when we play in India. In India, we will
set the rules against whoever we play”, informed the British Coach.

“We have made a beginning today and I want us to perform at consistent
level from now on. The Players showcased superb attitude and work-rate.”

*Carmona's battle against Raheja's is a sad Goan story: H*
http://www.epaperoheraldo.in/Details.aspx?id=15426=15573365==9/8/2015

*COMMENTS:*

Indeed, it is a very very sad story.

However, GSRP would like to know if the Dy. Sarpanch, Mr. Olando D'Silva
is still against the project with his objection to it standing like it was
in the initial stages, more specifically when he took to the roads with
demostration near the then CM's house in Margao some time ago [ a video
footage of it is with us] , for which demonstration we were also
participating. But if Orlando D'Silva's stand has now changed to pro
Raheja's, then this could be for one of these reasons, and we do hope we
are WRONG for the sake of Goa and Goan, which will totally and abosulety
destroy the credibility of upright Goans, or at least what is still
remaining and if it is remaining.

1. Orlando D'Silva could be under tremendous pressure to say 'YES' to this
project despite his previous and present opposition. The reason could be
that someone is blackmailing him with his not so clear past, threatening
him that his past will be exposed. This is one reason most upright
persons shut their mouths because there are skeletons in their cubboards
which if exposed will demolish their present standing. If Orlando D'Silva
is in deed has a past that is not compatible with his public standing, then
he should not have taken the center stage against Raheja's and he should
not have contested the Panchayat elections. He should have put some other
person in that place who is clean enough to stand the scrutiny.

2. Orlando D'Silva has compromised his stand for either favours or for
cash. If this is the case, which we hope is not, then he should be
publicly exposed and asked to resign from his position in the Panchayat,
outright. This is because GSRP has been associating with him and we have
gone on record to say that we that he is a clean person, and have been
splashing a lot of RTI information that he had acquired and passed on to
us regarding this project in the past. GSRP never, repeat never, supports
any compromised person/s because GSRP is an open book to bring flawless
change for GOA through its Contititutional (hurting) provisions in Article
34 & 38 and generally through its Road Map for Goa.

GSRP will see that no Ground + 2 floors come up in any Village Panchayat
areas - i.e. VP1, VP2 & VP3. However, all VP construction will necessary
have stilt parking area where parking possibilities are limited, which
stilt parking will not constitute as a floor.

GSRP will bring in TDR [Transfer of Development Rights] to protect
sensitive Villages, their ecosystems, CRZ & Heritage sites with strict
implementation where one can avail the bonanza of the price rise and still
protect these sensitive areas.

At this juncture, GSRP likes to make it clear to Goa and Goans that its
frontline leadership is NOT compromised or has any skeletons in their
cubboards. GSRP is very very careful whom it inducts into the party so
that its position is never compromised. We must confess that GSRP did have
persons in its founders list of 16 with skeletons in their cubboards and
they have been asked to exit through the back doors in order not to hurt
them - a principle that GSRP borrowed from Singapore's first Prime Minister
and late Lee Kuan Yew. To cite a standing example with GSRP's fight against
corruption, this is what happened, in the very village which houses the
head office of GSRP, which is MOIRA:

A Mumbai based friend of ours had approved a plan for a residential
building in the Village of Moira. He thought it fit that we should take
on ourselves to get him the Panchayat permission to build after handing
over to us the approved file where Rs. 3,96,000.00 were paid to the TCP
department as INFRUSTRUCTURE TAX. The file was complete with all NOCs
[Electricity & Health] as required, where all basic amenities like water,
power, road/s, garbage disposal etc taken care of. Therefore, we were
chosen [floriano lobo] to approach the Panchayat for the construction
licence as we have the reputation of not paying a single paisa in bribes to
any one. The friend probably did have an incling that he could be taken for
Lakhs of rupees by the Panchayat.

As Power of attorney, we submit the file in the Panchayat on *6 June, 2014*.
A cooked up gram sabha meeting was held to discuss the file. The resolution
passed by this body went against the project to say that the infrastructure
was lacking and that the file should be returned to the PWD, Electricity
Department to veryfy the existence of the facilities. We received no
response to our application within 30 days of submitting the file. On 31st
day, we approached the Dy. Director of Panchayats under section 66 (2) of
the Panchayat Raj Act. The Dy. Director was pleased to uphold the appeal
and passed the Order that Panchayat should issue the necessary permission
within 15 days. This Order was passed on 6 November, 2014, a

[Goanet] ON ' WATCHING TV '

2015-09-09 Thread Floriano Lobo
*ON WATCHING TV*

If anyone should ask me " Have you seen the News on TV?" My general
response is "I do not watch TV"

Yes. That is right. I do not watch TV, primarily because I have better
things to do.
However, the only time I watch TV is during my dinner time ( and this is
after 10 p.m. when folks have retired from whatching Aisha Sareen and
Laxmi Matur), when I sit in front of the TV while I eat. And this just
for watching Ten Sports or Ten Action, mainly football.

Unfortunately, there was U.S. Open Tennis Doubles going on today, and after
watching this play for some time (because of Bopana), I switched on to
Prudent Media and was in time to watch the zombie Dy. CM speaking
to Pramod Acharya on the coming Municipal Elections and 27% reservations to
OBC. Talking about OBC, it has become quite a rolling business with people
wanting to be OBCs left, right and center. Not only one can get a sackful
of rice dirt cheap on a BPL ration card (which GSRP wants to abolish) but
one can also contest elections and become Dy. CMs. Rightly, I met a friend
of a friend from Vasco at Dr. Willie's funeral, yesterday, and when we
exchanged phone numbers, he asked me to let him know if anyone wanted OBC
certificates. He informed me that he works for some Government Office and
is in charge of giving OBC certificates. Coming back to the Prudent Media,
as I was about to flick the channel, the news started with my favourite
rolly-polly Ms anchor (I like the cool way she reads the news, and, if I
had to vote for a Goan newscaster, I would vote for her, many times over).
Naturally, not being a TV fan, I do not know her name. And I was stunned
when she started reading the news about some Andhra based investment
company, which has been operating from Osia Chambers, Margao, for some time
with a registered office in Goa, has left the Goan asshole investors high
and dry and made good with a booty of 1.5 crores in a few months. I felt
like punching a joker investor who was narating his story and who has, he
says, single handedly invested Rs. 15L. Now he is complaining that nobody
is picking up the phones and that some sister-in-law of one of the
partners is giving fairy tale answers. I also saw Michael Ferns, the Goa's
do gooder in the background hold a company's phanphlet. The laughable
thing is that the company had offered 50% interest rate or some such
fantastic figure and that the capital investment would be increased by
half in 6 months. So everybody rushed in with whatever they had. They
should have been wiser to discard investment companies like these as
scamsters who offer more than 12 to 15 % interest rates. The worst thing
is that these con artists can come to Goa and dupe Goans as and when they
like and to whatever extent. And our Goa's administration, aka Goa Police
is busy extorting somewhere esle, preferably from criminals and Matka
people, etc, not paying any attention to these rogue companies setting up
shops in Goa to polish lifetime savings of asshole Goans who are impatient
to double their money in half as much time.

GSRP will, first thing, set up an Intelligence Cell with capable Police
Officers to scan Newspapers and Electronic Media advertisements like
these. And one of the first clients that visit these rogues will be such
Police Officers calling on them disguised as investors. And the rest of the
story is plain and simple. BEHIND BARS. This will have saved our Goan
assholes who will even keep the curry pot on the fire going to run off to
these offices first thing after reading such advertisements. These assholes
do not know that it is a 'BLOODY SHAME' to even show their faces on the TV
to tell Goan public that they have been ripped off. And this is the
biggest SHAME for the HOME MINISTER of GOA to let the public know that such
rip-offs are taking place in Goa with his Police Department sleeping on
duty. With GSRP in the driving seat of Goa's affairs, anyone who wants to
invest in companies which offer high interest rates will get a free
run-down on these companies setting shops in Goa, if they want, and if
these rogues are not already in the can.

[Goanet] IMPORTANT GITP PRESS NOTE: Locally sustainable Goan IT-ESDM industry – Govt has to do much more…and urgently

2015-09-09 Thread Goa IT Professionals
Dear Press and Media community of Goa:

*(170+ recipients marked in Bcc...note that this is a monitored mail ID so
please do not hesitate to reply back if you have any questions)*

As you are already aware GITP is an apolitical voluntary association with
our members employed in the Indian IT industry contributing their personal
time and resources to promote a locally sustainable IT industry in Goa
through our strategy not to criticize but to enable as well
as pressurize the governmental bodies into action for time bound results
towards our cause. We had met the IPB team as well as the Chief Minister,
Laxmikant Parsekar, on 07-Feb-2015 and offered to work together with them
to get things done towards attracting at least a couple mid-sized IT
companies into Goa on priority. However while the governmental progress has
been slow in all these months our voluntary group has done the things
listed below on our own and we leave it to the Goan public to judge as to
how much more can be done by, and also should be expected of, the Goa
government.

Our GITP team apprised Mr. Parsekar about these GITP activities and our
concerns about the grim situation owing to the government’s lackadaisical
progress when we met him last week on 01-Sep-2015 at the Secretariat and
had a very intense 40 minute discussion. This meeting was also attended by
the Goa Assembly Speaker Mr. Arlekar, Chief Secretary Mr. Srivastava,
Director Dept. of IT Mrs. Shinde and IPB OSD Mr. Tulshidas Pai. The GITP
team comprised of Yash Ganthe, Vincent Toscano, Gaurish Abhisheki, Gaurish
Kambli and Tirathprasad Nagvekar. GITP’s key question to the Chief Minister
was, “What more do you need from a voluntary group like GITP to enable the
governmental machinery to get its act together and proactively chase
suitable IT companies to be brought into Goa?” Mr. Parsekar was
appreciative of GITP efforts and was forthcoming with his ideas on how
certain things could be expedited. He has committed a monthly review
meeting with GITP Core Team to monitor the progress and plan things ahead.

GITP voluntary activities since February 2015 to enable the Goa government
promote IT industry in Goa:

1.GITP has been proactively monitoring the Indian and global business
news space for IT and technology companies having expansion plans in order
to bring such opportunities to the notice of Goa government leadership,
Dept. of IT and IPB. As a result 20+ such leads have been sent by GITP till
date. However the official response has been lukewarm, knee-jerk at best on
occasions and almost no visible action in reality.

2.On 07-July-2015, GITP had pointed out to the Goa govt. and IPB
officials the annual Gartner Symposium/ITxpo 2015 conference that will be
held in Goa on 2-5 November this year at the Grand Hyatt Goa (Bambolim) in
order to exploit it as an opportunity to promote Goa as a “365 days on
Innovation” destination to the global audience of CIOs in attendance at
this event. After the initial interest shown by the officials there has
been no subsequent visible action in this regard by the Goa govt. and IPB.

3.GITP had carefully prepared and proposed a detailed day-long program
agenda (see details below this mail) to the Goa govt. leadership for an
impactful launch in Goa, and subsequent long-term sustenance of the
visionary nation-wide Digital-India campaign of Prime Minister, Narendra
Modi. Goan society stands to immensely benefit all-round from Digital-India
given our highly literate demographic and the existing semi-urban
infrastructure even in our villages. This agenda and our commitment of
full-support to Digital-India in Goa was in response to a request from
South Goa MP, Narendra Sawaikar, followed by his 30min conference call with
our GITP Core Team to understand his vision and ideas. Unfortunately now it
is 2 months since we shared the agenda with him and subsequently the Goa
govt. but no action has been visibly taken nor any of our reminders
responded to.

4.GITP's open offer to the Goa govt. and IPB to work hand-in-hand with
them on preparing presentations/material required to re-brand Goa as a “365
days on Innovation” destination and even to deliver such presentations to
the prospective IT companies' management has gone unutilized since February
2015 despite our multiple follow-up reminders with govt. officials
unwilling to give us even just 5 minutes of their time to plan the
immediate next steps.

5.When the Goa government released its 10-page draft IT Policy on
23-May-2015, GITP took it onto itself to study the state IT policies of
other successful IT destinations in India and identify the relevant best
practices therein adapted to the Goan context. Additionally a number of
original ideas and recommendations from the GITP group members were
similarly collated. All of this was then formulated in policy language and
a re-drafted 18-page policy document was submitted to the Goa government
and its detailed walkthrough done on a

[Goanet] EMPOWER THE YOUTH

2015-09-09 Thread Aires Rodrigues
Every extension in service or contract appointment given beyond the
retirement age is a cruel and grave injustice to the Youth. The Government
as a matter of rule should ensure that there is a total ban on any such
extensions in service and contract appointments to the retired. It is a
severe prejudice to those unemployed aspiring to join the government
service and to the young officers awaiting promotion.

No one is indispensable and steps should be taken well in advance to
replace those retiring. There are however some officers who just will not
retire as they cannot live without government perks and freebies. All good
things need to come to an end. And there is something known as “retired
life” which many government officers unfortunately cannot come to terms
with.

We need to invest in our youth and give them a chance. The power,
diversity, and potential of our youth could energize the bureaucracy into a
vibrant engine to tow Goa out of the woods.

The great American writer Robert Heinlein had said “Age is not an
accomplishment, and youth is not a sin”.

Punit Upadhyaya : (Shantanu Says:-)"I will always remember my London Piano
Performance in which I was the only Bachelor Pianist along with the other
Master-artists. There was 24 players in the Firebird Orchestra with whom I
played Mozart's Concerto in D minor with my own composed Cadenza
incorporating indian Raaga Bhairav in an interesting way, in which all other
instruments stops playing and only Solo Piano is heard . In this performance
of 45 mins. I had played fusion of Indian and Western classical in Bhairavi
Raga. "

He is from Ahmedabad but studied at Chennai - K.M. College of Music and
Technology founded by the Oscar winning film composer Dr. A.R. Rahman for
three years and finished the 4th year of 'B.A. Honors in Music' at Middlesex
University , London. From the beginning of establishment of music department
at Middlesex University, no student has ever performed concerto with a
professional orchestra in a commercially paid concert till now and it is a
matter of pride for Gujarat, as Shantanu Patel was offered a chance to
display his performance skills through this event making him the first ever
student of this university to play a concerto with a professional orchestra.

Remembrance of Ahmedabad-

I am inherited with Indian Classical Music at home. My father used to play
Harmonium, Flute and Havaian Guitar. I also started to learn Harmonium at
the age of 7. At the age of 11 I got attracted towards Piano and Western
Classical music and hence after finishing my schooling I chose to get
admitted into K.M. College of Music and Technology founded by A.R. Rahman in
Chennai.

Do you miss Ahmedabad since you are out since 4 years?

Shantanu : I liked Ahmedabadi street Food, which I will always miss along
with my family and friends.

What do you want to say about Music and young musicians of Gujarat :

I would like to say - from my experience - its a long and hard-working
process. If I talk regarding youth of Gujarat there are 13 new admissions
from Gujarat at KM College of Music and Technology this year which shows
their passion and love towards Music.

What is your Success' Secret and Dream : Regular practice, hard work and
time management are my secrets to achieve my goals. I practice minimum of
4-5 hours daily and would like to become one of the leading concert pianists
of the world some day.

Our Bollywood Music also has rich heritage, so does it fit into your musical
world? Are there any plans to settle down in Bollywood industry?

There are no such plans to settle down in Bollywood industry for now. Yes,
we do have a rich tradition in the industry, where orchestral music is being
used as background scores for films but the notion of solo piano concert, or
classical concerts is yet to grow which according to me will take upto 5-10
years and hence I plan to settle down in the industry after 30-40 years.

Will your life-partner be a musician as well?

Of course yes, I intend to find my partner who is a musician as well, though
I haven't found anyone yet.

Thanks,

Shantanu Patel

BA(hons) Music,

Middlesex University, London

[Goanet] MAUVIN NOT CORRUPT OR CORRUPT?

If BJP now says that Mauvin is not corrupt than why to keep chances until
SC gives the verdict. BJP is playing double game in that case. Better to
get a person 100% non corrupt than likely to be corrupt. Manohar Parrikar
is hundred percent was RIGHT earlier and now due to his U-turn policy
things are changing?

Mauvin is not corrupt, vows BJP

Mauvin Godinho is not corrupt! Who says this? The Bharatiya Janata Party!!!
“You cannot call a person guilty of corruption unless he is proved guilty
by the court”, said BJP’s Goa president Vinay Tendulkar.
The BJP had convened a press conference today to announce that all those
involved in mining scam would be behind the bars before 2017 election comes.
Obviously, this was happening in the background of arrest of former
Congress minister Churchill Alemao in Louis Berger bribery case and
possible arrest of former Congress chief minister Digambar Kamat.
A journalist asked a simple question to him:
“With Louis Berger case, it appears that you hate corrupt people. How in
that case you are embracing Mauvin Godinho, against whom a corruption case
is pending before the Supreme Court?”
Tendulkar was quick to reply:
“You cannot call Mauvin corrupt unless he is proved guilty by the court.”
The corruption case Mauvin presently facing was unearthed by Manohar
Parrikar, when he along with three other BJP legislators (including
Digambar Kamat), was elected in 1994 election. That was BJP’s debut in the
Assembly.
Parrikar had exposed Mauvin’s power rebate scam, calling him the most
corrupt politician in the Congress.
Mauvin, presently the Congress MLA from Dabolim, has been now appointed
chairman of the South Goa Planning and Development Authority few days ago
by the same BJP.
While announcing that he would contest on the BJP ticket from Dabolim in
2017, the rebel Congressman has even challenged the Congress party to act
against him for his anti-party activities.
In this background, the media also asked Tendulkar whether the party is
really planning to give him ticket from Dabolim.
“Tickets are not decided at this stage. Mauvin has not even joined the BJP.
He can claim anything,” remarked Tendulkar.

[Goanet] CERTIFICATE COURSE IN ROMI KONKNNI HELD AT INCREDIBLE ENGLISH

2015-09-09 Thread Jose Fernandes
*CERTIFICATE COURSE IN ROMI KONKNNI HELD AT INCREDIBLE ENGLISH *

Incredible English, conducted successfully Romi Konkani Course from 15 June
to 31 August, at its boutique residential English School & Resort at
Benaulim. A total of four students – David Trotter (United Kingdom), Nicole
Luick Da Silva (Switzerland), Bharati Marwaha Kumar (India) and Emma Bryant
(Canada) participated in the Romi Konkani Course.

Incredible English is a boutique residential English School & Resort in the
amazing and uniquely beautiful village of Benaulim, Goa, where symbols of a
rich history are fused with the present, creating a uniquely Goan
atmosphere, whilst the local Indian culture ensures an experience never to
be forgotten.

“I found the course on the whole to be excellent. It was very good that we
were taught the Konkani grammar rather than just learning stock phrases.
This will allow us to progress with the language in future,” opined David
Trotter.

“The deep knowledge of the teacher, not only of the Konkani language, but
also of the culture of the people made the classes very interesting. It is
very important when learning a new language that one should also learn
about the people, and this gives an insight into how the language is used,”
he added further.

Mr.Trotter added that he has grasped the basis of the language and “I
would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending this course to anyone
wishing to learn Konkani.”

“My teacher was great. A deep understanding of the language allows him to
explain questions in full. He is animated and engaging,” said Emma Bryant,
married to a Goan and settled in Goa for the last 4 years.

“I would be embarrassed to live in Goa and not able to speak Konkani,”
commented Emma Bryant.

“The course benefited me a lot as all the grammar questions have been
addressed which nobody could give me a satisfactory answer for my questions
raised before,” said Nicole Luick Da Silva who is married to a Goan and is
settled in Goa since 2006.

Nicole added that the course made her understand how the language is
working and used, besides making her like the language more than before.

According to Bharati Marwaha Kumar “the grammar gives a better
understanding of the language. The course was amazing and the teacher was
our inspiration.”

The focus in this course was to read Romi Konkani with comprehension,
basic vocabulary, basic grammar of Romi Konkani and speaking and reading.

Mr. Jose Salvador Fernandes, a post graduate in Konkani, All India Konkani
Writers Vice-President (Goa Unit), writer and teacher conducted
the Romi Konkani Course.

[Goanet] Is this about Road Safety?

2015-09-09 Thread Dr . Ferdinando dos Reis Falcão

It is not very surprising that the Dy SP (Traffic) and
the Director of Transport have only the
topic of Helmets for riders and pillions to speak on, for the Road Safety
Campaign at Mapusa ; as published in
certain newspapers. Are they so Incompetent to be unable to identify the causes
of accidents and corrective measures that need to be taken for the Safety of
Road users? Do they realize that helmets don’t prevent accidents but protect
head injury to a certain extent after meeting with an accident? That Helmets
are not for Road safety but it is an item of PPE (Personal Protective
Equipment)? In other words their MESSAGE for Road Safety is that let accidents
happen, and let road users get disabled, but deaths on road should decrease.

Dr. Ferdinando dos Reis Falcão.
