[Goanet] True Christmas Spirit
From today’s CNN: Lost and found Since it's the day before Christmas, let's talk about something more in keeping with the holiday spirit. Like the subway rider in New York who did something really nice last week. He found a purse with $10,000 in cash on a train platform. Instead of going on a Christmas gift spending spree, he took the bag of cash to the police. Turns out it belonged to a Manhattan woman who was headed to Russia for a vacation. The man said he didn't think he'd done anything all that special and that it was "something most people would have done." Roland. Toronto.

[Goanet] GFA targets 2020 FIFA U-17 Women’s WC bid
GFA targets 2020 FIFA U-17 Women’s WC bid GFA President Churchill Alemao today met with Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar in order to get the Government's guarantees to present a bid to FIFA to consider Goa as a venue for the FIFA Under-17 Women's World Cup in Goa in 2020. The bid documents that are needed by GFA are host city agreement, stadium agreement, training site agreement, the same that were presented for hosting the FIFA Under-17 Men's World Cup that was held in Goa in 2017. The GFA had asked the SAG and the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs to secure the guarantees and V M Prabhudesai had in turn sought the Govt's approval which needed a Cabinet nod. The note was submitted on November 5. Since there was no response from the Government, Churchill called on Parrikar late Monday evening and Parrikar promised to do the needful and asked the GFA chief to meet him again on Thursday when the concerned officials would be called and necessary guarantees given, since the deadline for further submission is December 28. “I have discussed the documents needed with our CM and he has assured that he will do the needful. Football is our State sports and I will do my best to give best to the State. Right now I’m concentrating to get the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup to Goa and have requested the CM to help us in the same,” explained GFA President Churchill Alemao. Churchill sounded positive that Parrikar would ensure that the three guarantees would be given and the bid would be considered by FIFA. Churchill stressed that since Goa had organised the FIFA men's event successfully with the Govt providing the guarantees, it would not be a problem to secure the same now for hosting the 2020 event.
[Goanet] DOUBLE WHAMMY
SURVELLEINCE AND MOB RULE Shiroda locals were angry over survellience by a traffic sentinental who operated from a rented shop selling electronic goods. They managed to find out that the many challans from the police were due to his reports. The gathered mob forced the individual to run for his life and the owner to terminate the lease. This is an example of survellience, rule of law and mob rule! A nation's character is the sum total of the character of its people. Naseruddin Shah is pilloried for his perception which is an opinion he has every right to have in our democracy. He is now deemed an anti national and some Sang Parrivar members want him to go to Pakistan. The government recent attempt to authorise 10 central agencies including comissioner of police to snoop into everyone's computers/mobiles liker a "stalker government" would terrify not only Naseruddin Shah! If the Congress government a decade ago passed such a law and was indulging in snooping, how does that justify the BJP to do likewise? I may remind the government that Right To Privacy was not declared as a fundamental right then and this new contemplated Act with blanket powers under the guise of national security, just before elections, for obviously silencing oponents and critics, with only union home secretary approval, and in "emergency" cases, maybe taken postfacto after 3 days fools no one! Both Congress and BJP/RSS are ensuring flouting the Supreme Court ruling in the Sabrimala issue, and promoting mob violence, polarization and hate to win elections. We pray this Christmas season of love and peace, where Santa Clause overshadows Christ, will raise human beings to a little degree of true compassion for all fellow humans and bring some sanity in our nation as a whole!

The "anna hotel" should be severely penalized as they were operating a matka joint inside the hotel premises. Maybe they should rename themselves as "Anna Casino and Hotel" Where is the show cause notice for the fourth hotel? Or has it been swept under the carpet?
