[Goanet] . . . . but a few are CHOSEN !

2019-09-27 Thread Devak Argham
With due respect to the pig ( God's creation ) and specially the sorpatel
and sausages, I jot down a story told by our ancestors. Many of the Church
goers also must have heard it mentioned in the homilies.

The subjects of a kingdom were all happy under their king. The king used to
go through his kingdom to meet and take care of the issues his subject
they put foward. While on one such trip the king saw a pig enjoying the
mire. The king was unhappy with the condition of the pig. He ordered to
have the pig brought to his palace. The pig was bathed, cleaned and
robed. The pig was coping with his new settings. He missed the pleasure
of being in the filthy environment.

Traveling with the king on one of his journey through the kingdom, the pig
happened to see the mire from where he was picked. With joy, the pig ran
and jumped back into the mire. For the pig his filthy surrounding was a
source of pleasure. The king on seeing this thought it better to leave the
pig in the environment he enjoys.

All are invited but a few are CHOSEN !

Re: [Goanet] THE BIBLE - IS IT HOLY??

2019-09-27 Thread Eddie

Dear Devak Argham,

You say: "We are not mere makers of history but are ourselves a part of
history.

Recognize your faithful ancestors. God and Man meet each other in the Holy
Bible. Its a message of Love...
The Holy Bible is God's letter to His children etc etc. "

You mean well, Devak, but you seem ro be spouting some pious nonsense you
have picked up from the White man.

Have you read the Old Testament yourself?

it reads like a veritable treasure house of horrors.
Even a casual reading reveals the OT God as VIOLENT, VENGEFUL, RACIST,
SEXIST, TERRORIST, ETHNIC CLEANSER.

Here are some examples of that God's behaviour:

++ Sexist & sadistic
[Genesis, chap 3] To Eve for a minor offence: "I will greatly increase your
pain in childbearing. your husband will rule over you."
[Genesis, chap 19] Two male 'angels' had arrived in Sodom and a person
called Lot put them up. When a band of gay men wanted sex with them, Lot
beseeched them: "Don't do this wicked thing. Look, I have two virgin
daughters. Let me bring them out to you and you can do what you like with
them." Yet it was Lot whom God judged righteous. Only he and his family
were spared from destruction.

[Genesis, chap 20] When a local king (Abimelech) was troubling Abraham's
wife, God arbitrarily decides "to close up every womb in Abimelech's

household", including the slave girls.

++ Racist violence
God is discriminatory: He said "The Lord makes a distinction between Egypt
and Israel." [Exodus, chap 7-12]
He unleashes a series of calamities on the unfortunate Egyptians - plagues
of blood, frogs, gnats, flies, boils, locusts and finally, "At midnight the
Lord struck down all the first born in Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh.
to the firstborn of the prisoner in the dungeon and the firstborn of all

livestock as well." [Exodus 12:29]

++ God orders dispossession & land grab
The OT God calls the Israelites his chosen people.
He promised Abraham: "I will make you into a great nation.I will make your
name great." [Genesis, chap 12:2] "To your descendants I give this land
from the river of Egypt to the great river, the Euphrates - the land of the
Kenites, Amorites, Hittites, Canaanites, ." [Genesis, 15:18-21]. What about

the people living there?

The Lord's strategy is to liberate his favoured people by dispossessing the
others: "My angel will go ahead of you and bring you into the land of the
Amorites, Hittites, Canaanites, ... and I will wipe them out.I will send
terror ahead of you and throw into confusion every nation that you
encounter. Gradually I will drive them out until you have increased enough
to take possession of the land. I will hand over to you the people who live

in the land and you will drive them out." [Exodus, 23:23-31]

++ Divine vengeance
"If you will not listen to me. then I will bring upon you sudden terror,
wasting diseases and fever that will destroy your sight. I will punish you
for your sins seven times over. I will send wild animals against you,
destroy you cattle. If in spite of this you still do not listen to me . You
will eat the flesh of your sons and daughters. I will abhor you. I will turn
your cities into ruins." [Leviticus, chap 26:14-31]

Phew! is this a caring God talking or the RAVINGS OF A BLOOD THIRSTY
MONSTER?

So, Devak Argham think again. This is 2019.

Bengaluru FC edge past Tata FA to reach Vedanta Youth Cup finals

Panjim, 27th September: Bengaluru FC stormed into the finals of the
inaugural Vedanta Youth Cup, Goa 2019 after overcoming a resilient Tata
Football Academy by a 2-0 margin. The third-round match, which was a
nervy encounter, saw the team from Bengaluru prevail over the Jamshedpur
based outfit to book a place in the final, making them the only unbeaten
team in the tournament thus far in the process.
It was quite an intense first half of the game with a few reckless
tackles coming in. Tata FA midfielder Rishi was the first to receive a
yellow card on one such occasion while on the other end, Bengaluru
goalkeeper Dipesh Chauhan was booked in the 26th minute as well.
With a minute remaining for the half time whistle, Bengaluru FC finally
found a breakthrough as Ronik Singh gave his side the lead. In the
meanwhile, joint-top scorer of the tournament Akashdeep Singh of
Bengaluru was also shown a yellow card.
Nevertheless, the Blues doubled their lead through an in-form Jagdeep
Singh as soon as the second half began, to put their opponents under
pressure. In the next quarter, Bengaluru looked to have established
control and Ronik had a great chance to put an end to the game, but his
scuffed shot was saved by Tata FA goalkeeper Sudarshan.
On the other end, Robin Yadav had a great game, coming very close to
scoring on two occasions in the final 30 minutes. His outrageous attempt
from the right edge of the box in the dying minutes could have earned
Tata FA a consolatory goal but the ball bounced back off the post as
Bengaluru’s second-choice goalkeeper Raj Biswa was rooted in his place.
The #9 was also awarded the Man of the Match trophy by ex-Sesa Football
Academy and Goa’s representative in the Santosh Trophy, Bosco Monteiro,
who was the Chief Guest at the game.
In the end, it was a close encounter between the two teams but Bengaluru
emerged deserving winners. The Blues will now face the winner between
Sesa Football Academy and Reliance Foundation Young Champs in the final
on 29th September.

Sesa Football Academy to fight for third place after losing out to
Reliance Foundation Young Champs
27th September, Panjim: Sesa Football Academy went down fighting against
Reliance Foundation Young Champs as the score line depicted 3-0 in
favour of the latter at the full time whistle. In the previous game, the
host academy had put on a great show against finalists Bengaluru FC,
earning a point and required a win against the Young Champs to reach the
finals of the Vedanta Youth Cup.
However, as it turned out, luck was in favour of the team in red as they
successfully set up a final day fixture against Bengaluru FC on 29th
September. The Young Champs required a win with a minimum margin of
three goals and they looked determined to get the result from the very
first minute of the game.
Within the first 30 minutes, the team in red took a double lead through
Man of the Match Thoi Singh and left-back Nihal, putting early pressure
on the hosts. In the 33rd minute, the team had another chance to make it
3-0 but forward Ayush missed from the spot, after Beckham Xavier had
committed a foul inside the box.
The first 45 minutes saw several Young Champs’ players booked including
Ayush, Yash and Kaustav while Salman was cautioned by the referee in the
46th minute. Nevertheless, within the next three minutes, the Young
Champs scored once again, this time through Nehil who triple up the
lead.
Further, in the 63rd minute, another player Felixson was sent off with a
straight red card for denying a straight goal scoring opportunity to
Sesa. In the final 25 minutes, Rizbon Fernandes missed two close
opportunities to bring Sesa Football Academy back into the game but he
unfortunately couldn’t find the back of the net.
It was a heartbreak for Sesa Football Academy at the final whistle as
they just missed out on the finals. Yet, the hosts will face Tata
Football Academy in a clash for third place on 29th September.
