[Goanet] GOA CM PRAMOD alias PROPERTY SAWANT IS NAVIGATING GOA DOWN THE TUBE

2019-10-18 Thread Aires Rodrigues
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has been carrying on the legacy of his
predecessor Manohar Parrikar by governing our cash strapped State very
autocratically, with no transparency and accountability whatsoever.

The now launched ‘Vibrant Goa Foundation’ is the latest of this
government’s many scams and a sheer act of utter bad governance. In the
name of promoting business avenues in Goa, this private venture has been
arbitrarily hand picked and assigned the task without any laid down
criteria or parameters whatsoever. The selection should have been by an
open tender and not a very close door BJP choice. This unnecessary,
questionable and very high-handed drain on the State Exchequer is bound to
figure prominently in the next report of the Comptroller Auditor General
(CAG).

It is high time the Chief Minister realizes that government’s agenda and
schemes should be people centric and not a wagon to accommodate party
cadres.

Why couldn’t the Government have entrusted this task of promoting
industries and business ventures to the very experienced and knowledgeable
besides reputed Goa Chamber of Commerce & Industry which possesses all the
expertise and knowledge in the field. Pramod Sawant would have to account
as to how he has recklessly and malafiedly doled out two crores of our tax
payer’s money to Vibrant Goa without any rationale whatsoever. Besides
government Corporations who are financially already bankrupt have also been
asked to chip into this Vibrant Goa loot and plunder.

Does the Chief Minister need to be told that government needs to be very
cautious and extremely careful while spending every paisa from the State
Coffers? Manohar Parrikar left the State in dire straits and if Pramod
Sawant does not take cogent corrective measures, an already sinking Goa is
going to land up into a further disastrous and irreversible state of
administrative chaos. Mr. Chief Minister, Goa will never be Vibrant as long
as your motley government is always vibrating!

Delhi battles for clear skies and lungs

Winter is nearly here and we in Delhi are waiting not to exhale, as
the cold heavier air will settle and air pollution will choke us. But
with a difference — there is outrage and there is action. There is
even evidence that we have bent the pollution curve — though not
enough, it does suggest that action is beginning to have an impact.

This is what we need. I say this because often, in our combined anger,
we forget to stay focused on the need to act, and in a way that we can
see the difference, so that we can do more. This is critical. As only
when we remain focused on what we must do, can we get our
non-negotiable right to breathe.

So, what has happened. First, there is public information about the
state of air quality and its link to our health. Some years ago,
government brought in the air quality index (AQI), in which, we were
told, at each level of pollution its impact on our health. Then, we
have a large number of air quality monitoring stations providing
real-time information.

This knowledge, available on a breath to breath basis, is on our
phones, in our face. We know when it is toxic to breathe. We know and
we are angry. Let’s also be clear, this network of stations does not
exist in any other part of the country — most cities have one or two
monitors, and so they don’t know. But in Delhi, toxic air has become
a political issue — almost a tug of war between different parties
vying for credit. This is great Continue Reading

[Goanet] Catalogues of IFFI from Inception

2019-10-18 Thread augusto pinto
I have been an IFFI delegate since the time IFFI began in Goa.

Hence I have most of the cataloguea from the first IFFI that was held in
Goa.

Now I am facing a problem because I don't have space in my house to store a
lot of stuff which I had preserved because I thought they would be useful.

So I am going to destroy the stuff which I don't want and amongst this are
those old IFFI catalogues. Possibly someone among us might need these
catalogues. If so let me know tout de suit. Otherwise I will destroy those
catalogues. Even though I feel sorry doing this.

In case anyone is interested please let me know quickly. Otherwise I will
destroy the stuff.

[Goanet] Goa Government - Its Not Cricket?

2019-10-18 Thread Joao Barros-Pereira
Beyond the Grave
Looking back at: Goa Government - Its Not Cricket?

For the week which passed (17/7/21-14) when I was alive on Planet Earth.

The performance of the Goa government is starting to show the strength
of parliamentary democracy - by default?

With a lot of Departments and Ministers at loggerheads with one
another, Goa governance is not making sense anymore. The garbage and
sewage wars are throwing up a whole lot of stink and people are
starting to suffer nausea. And, rightfully, taking the initiative?

Some MLA players are bowling their balls all over the place - in all
directions - making for a lot of confusion and a feeling of - what’s
going on? And, batsmen, too, are hitting their balls here, there, and
everywhere.

Yes, its not cricket. Not anymore.

With one player cutting off the electricity which affects players of
his own team and other departments - and embarrassing the captain -
and another stopping garbage, another sewage, and another … Where and
how will it end?

The attitude of Not in my backyard (NIMBY) is now being raised higher
than Sonsodo garbage hill for all to see, and bringing us to the
crossroads - Is NIMBY something bad or good?

If a village, town or city wants to build - horizontally and/or
vertically - legally or legally, then it is their business so long as
they keep the problems of garbage and sewage within their (legal or
illegal) backyard.

Don’t export your self-created problems of overbuilding to other parts
of Goa, especially to areas where the people are concerned about the
environment of their backyard. After you have destroyed the
environment in your own backyard - do you now want to destroy other
peoples’ backyards? No way.

Calungute, for example, has overbuilt decades ago and the impact of
overbuilding - garbage and sewage - needs to be solved within the
parameters of Calungute. And, the same principle applies to everyone
and everywhere in Goa.The waste sewage and waste garbage problems
cannot be exported and relocated to somewhere else. NIMBY is a good
indicator of sustainability.

The war within the government is in full swing. With players having a
variety of conflicting ideologies, what is happening is totally
expected; perhaps, the players have nothing more in common than their
love of power and money.

The parliamentary system of democracy was intended to take joint
responsibility as a team for representatives who have the same
ideology - and there is no evidence of this at all. All kinds of
players - with a variety of ideologies or none are included in the
team - and then dropped when necessary while others are brought in -
everything is a matter of expediency and an attempt to hold on to
power at any price.

Where is the voter? After the election he always ceases to exist and
so there is no point in talking about him.

The ten Congress turncoats have made a Herculean blunder blinded by
the lure of money and power? Now, however, they need not shed
crocodile tears for backing the wrong horse.

Are they are planning on joining forces with other political parties
to get a better deal in future: think twice! After all, your next
party might be held in jail.

Each man for himself and the voter a dead duck - isn’t this the
reality today? But can there be governance with this kind of mindset
in a system of parliamentary democracy? Impossible!

The bowlers will bowl in a drunken way and the batsmen whack the ball
also in a drunken way until the game is over and it is time to start a
new match - and call for another election. Its not cricket!

[Goanet] Article: No Tata Nano production since Jan; only 1 unit sold in last 9 months

2019-10-18 Thread AF P
https://www.business-standard.com/article/pti-stories/no-nano-production-since-jan-only-1-unit-sold-in-last-6-months-119070201018_1.html

Tata Motors has not produced its small car Nano since January this year,
and not sold a single unit since February this year, according to
regulatory filings by the company.

The company, however, said it has not taken a formal decision on stopping
production of the entry-level car, which was once dubbed as the 'people's
car' saying it continues to sell the car as per demand.

As per the filings by Tata Motors, the last time it produced Nano was in
December 2018 when it rolled out 82 units from Sanand plant.

Since then, from January to June there was no production of Nano.

In terms of sales it was only in February, during January-June period, this
year that Tata Motors sold one unit of the small car.

When asked if the company has finally decided to discontinue Nano, a Tata
Motors spokesperson said no such decision has been taken yet.

"We are selling as per demand," the spokesperson said.

There were no exports of Nano in January-June period too.

In the past, Tata Motors has hinted that Nano production would be stopped
from April 2020 as it has no plans to invest further on Ratan Tata's dream
car to meet strict emission norm under BS-VI and upcoming new safety
regulations.

In June last year, the company produced just one unit of the Nano and sold
three units in domestic market.

After that, the company continued to produce Nano at Sanand plant based on
market demand and has insisted that it hasn't taken a decision on the
future of Nano.

Nano, which was unveiled in January 2008 at the Auto Expo with much
expectations of being the people's car, could not live up to the billing.
The car was launched in the market in March 2009 with an initial price of
close to Rs 1 lakh for the basic model despite cost escalations, with Ratan
Tata insisting that "a promise is a promise".

[Goanet] Press note from Wendell Rodricks

2019-10-18 Thread Retreat N Style
 THE ZENTANGLE COLLECTION
SCHULEN FERNANDES FOR WENDELL RODRICKS
FDCI LOTUS MAKEUP INDIA FASHION WEEK
SPRING SUMMER 2020
NEW DELHI.

Designer and Padma Shri awardee Wendell Rodricks and the label's creative
head Schulen Fernandes on invitation by the Fashion Design Council of India
presented their Zentangle collection alongside three other stellar Indian
designers Anamika Khanna, Manish Arora and Rajesh Pratap Singh as part of
the LMIFW's Grand Finalé on 12th October.

Schulen Fernandes for Wendell Rodricks took from the label's archives and
put the Zentangle Collection in a future realm with its stark modernity,
tribal history and dramatic look. Zentangle is an elegant metaphor and
model for inspiring a deliberate artistry in life. The art form uses simple
lines and curved spaces in a deliberate unplanned manner so that it can be
viewed from any side. This is the reason many tribal art forms adopt a
Zentangle approach unconsciously in their art. The collection is thus also
inspired by tribal body painting and is a tribute to the first ever
collection that Wendell Rodricks presented in his career. Using a
minimalist resort palette of white, silver, sand and azure blue as well as
fabrics like cotton, lycra, linen and georgette, the styles featured
silhouettes that were large and voluminous with a cinched or exposed slim
waist. Zentangle art, crochet, silver woven lines and shimmer accents
appear in the collection. The accessories are all tribal inspired and
deliberately elaborate in style using flowers, lace, wire, beads, bamboo,
metal and feathers.

Further and more importantly this collection was all about celebrating the
LMIFW's all-inclusive theme. Besides the regular ramp supermodels the
ensembles were featured on four special fashion influencers like burn
victorious Sharan, voluptuous gorgeous Sakshi, stylish transgender Ravi and
openly out gay model Siddharth Dangi. Truly making it a complete visual
statement of #myfashionmytribe in Minimalist Resort style that was Grand
Finalé worthy for the Fashion Designer Council of India’s Lotus Makeup
India Fashion Week.

Mr. Sunil Sethi, president of the FDCI in a statement said "these four
eminent Designers were the leading lights whose attention to detail was
unquestionable as their presentations showed how design may look diverse,
but the grid remains congruous.'

Actress Kangana Ranaut closed the show to thunderous applause from the
audience, that comprised a front row of the crème de la crème of the
capital city as well the fashion elite of the industry and Bollywood
celebrity Sonam Kapoor. The collection was absolutely loved and received
effusive praise by the fashion press and fashion enthusiasts alike.
