There seem to be many Blacks and Browns or Yellows who are happy to have white
people tell us when to kneel and stand.Aren't the Goans all flocking to the SFX
feast next week, thinking that he brought Catholicism to Goa - when, in fact,
he spent about 6months in Goa, authorized the Inquisition and slavery, and
wrote that we Indians shouldn't be admitted to the Jesuit Order because we're
inferior to the Japanese, and other such choice comments.  No convincing our
Goans of any historical facts.  They are believers and they have abdicated
their right to use their brains to think and discriminate.

Tom, your devotion seems more appropriate for a cult than for a mainstream
church.

That anyway is my opinion, noting that I have no skin in the game.

[Goanet] Dr Balaji F Naiqie remembered

2019-11-26 Thread Nelson Lopes

DR BALAJI F NAIQUE REVISED

“SIMPLICITY, HUMILITY,HEALING TOUCH, EARNED HIM LOYALTY, FAITH, TRUST AND
CONFIDENCE OF PATIENTS. AN EMPHATIC LISTENER AND CONSIDERATE DOCTOR RELIEVED
PATIENTS OF BURDEN OF ILLNESS”

After successfully completing his Medical Education and qualifying as
MEDICO CIRURGIAO at Escola Medica , at Panjim , he embarked on his practice
as a General Medical Practitioner .He was enthusiastic about his mission ,
vocation, dedication and service to his fellow men . His life partner Mrs.
Shatabai B, strengthened his resolve and solidly stood shoulder to shoulder in
his quest for perfection by providing the much needed support, encouragement
that helped him to achieve the goals. He in turn treated her with great
respect love and devotion.

He deliberately chose his base at Chinchinim to deliver his services. Besides
him there were two more Doctors in the village and which posed no hindrance to
his practice nor did he challenge them with his extra ordinary zeal , but in
all humility carved out a niche for himself. Being young and dynamic he was
easily accessible at all times of emergencies and pleasantly attended to those
who sought his skills without much ado. He had his clinic at Professor
Sebastiao Furtado ancestral home till he gave up his practice. True to his
nature of gratitude,he did not create any impediments or rights, but returned
the premises without demands and preconditions ,as a worthy occupant. He won
admiration and received lifelong loyalty from his patients for his professional
ethics, and rectitude. His professional fees were reasonable and always
accommodated sensibly with financial needs of his patients. Home visits at odd
hours, specially at distant Sarzora Village are fondly remembered and earned
him respect and appreciation .There is no denying of the fact that he helped to
protect many lives even from the jaws of death and such patients, families
remained indebted to him forever. Doctor Balaji was soft spoken , suave in his
approach, gentle in his behavior and which captivated all those who came in
close contact.

He served Sirlim Village too from 1958 to 1963 and Chinchinim Village from
1964 to 1986 till he hanged his Stethoscope due to age and failing health. He
devoted one hour daily at his residence in Sinquetim Navelim, as a service to
his surrounding residents. He also made himself available to the patients at
Bomdorim for their convenience .He was a familiar figure travelling in his
signature car. He was de facto permanent resident , loved dearly his place and
stay at stay at Chinchinim, home away from home till his last breath. His
brilliant children were students of local schools and the family moved to
their newly constructed comfortable home only after his demise. My family too
had experience of his care and medical treatment and remain indebted always.
He stood for long besides me, when I consulted him for allergies. Only when my
condition stabilized, he calmly explained to me the seriousness of my
condition. He lived a fully satisfied life as a Doctor, committed with passion
to service of humanity. As a true healer neither he or his patients could
have asked for more .We the Villagers of Chinchinim salute him and his
indelible memory and thank God for the wonderful gift of Doctor Balaji

His humble achievements, contributions to health care in the village are
footprints to traverse the beaten path and thus perpetuate his presence here
in the Village and his fond memories

He is survived by Mrs Daya/Sandip.MrsMaya/Shollet,Mrs Shuba/Dr Rajesh,Eng.
Somanath/Shrada and grandchildren, who are all well placed in the society ,
proficient in their chosen fields of occupation, blessed by Divine

[Goanet] Book Club Invite : November 30 @ 6PM Panjim

2019-11-26 Thread Archana Nagvekar
*Out-of-Context – The Book Club*, invites you to a book reading and
discussion on the graphic novel *Maus* by *Art Spiegelman*. In this novel
the author aims to document the life of his father; Vladek, during the
German occupation of Poland during WWII and his unwilling participation in
the holocaust. With Nazi Germans as depicted as cats, Jews as mice and
Poles as pigs, the narrative is fast paced and full of dark images dressed
up in anthropomorphic forms, serving as a chilling reminder of one of
history’s darkest events and the triumph of human tenacity and perseverance.

*Maus* by *Art Spiegelman* was the first graphic novel to win the Pulitzer
Prize in 1992.

*Date*: 30 November 2019, 6:00 PM

*Venue*: Broadway Book Store, 18th June Road Panjim

[Goanet] BJP’S MAHARASTRA POLITICAL MISCHIEF SHOULD NEVER EVER REPEAT IN OUR WORLD’S BIGGEST DEMOCRACY

2019-11-26 Thread Aires Rodrigues
The now exposed Devendra Fadnavis has rightly today opted for his only
option by gracefully resigning as Chief Minister of Maharashtra, a post he
for a few days mischievously and so unlawfully usurped. While his Deputy
Ajit Pawar has the option to return to his uncle the grand Sharad Pawar,
the devious Devendra Fadnavis will never be forgiven for that midnight
drama and cheap politriks for the lust of Power.

The BJP and in particular Prime Minister Narendra Modi must apologize to
the Nation for the planned political chicanery they tried in vain at
Maharashtra which was a grave unpardonable assault on the Constitution of
India which turns 70 today.
