[Goanet] REQUEST TO OUR ARCHBISHOP ..... Reminder please
Humble request to our beloved Archbishop Filipe Neri of goa who usually celebrate the feast mass of St Francis Xavier, every year you'll reserve the front row for the CM , Ministers and MLAs of Goa Government. I request you this time not to reserve the same for them as it will send wrong signals to goans as well as the Cristian community and hurt them as this are the same person who has given illegal permission for structure at Old Goa , it will be a big insult to the women who are on hunger strike, and it will be like making a joke of the priest who tells sermons on this illegal structure , I am a lay person but I can understand the damage that will be done to Christianity if this people are given place in front row ,who after the mass go and start to drink irrespective of their parties and put it on social media, God came in this world for sinners to save them and change them but this people instead of changing themselves they have reached near out st Francis church to grab the heritage land , please if any one want to add something to the message please do add and forward it to your groups so that atleast in shame this people will stay without coming for the mass. [Goanet] Thoughts in the wind
It just crossed my mind, perhaps I could be wrong. For our economists and elites in general, the following popular adages seem to be associated with them. *Doiriant assa molso, moll corta toh pisso * in obvious reference to their grand schemes of converting Indian economy to a trillion dollars one. As for our elites who are keen to distribute wealth , seem to be more governed by the maxim ''what is yours we share, and what is ours remain ours'

[Goanet] Even A Blind man Can See the Light?
Political pundits of different colors and flavors are taking a second and third look at the political clouds gathering in our rainy November skies. What do they have to say? A lot! And, yours truly? Not much. Watching all the political buzz and goings-on in the media it is for me an old movie. For me an old man the only adjustment I have to make is to watch it in real time, and in color. Otherwise, it is same all, same all. Religionists are extra energetic during this time of the year beating the St. Francisco Xavier drum unaware of how low an opinion he had of the Goan. Strangely enough, he admired the Godless Japanese. Shocking, isn’t it? Every day I read how the patron saint of Goa is going to save Goa. Another delusion of the holy Goan? Yes, the holy Goan will soon go to vote carrying his religious kit with him. As in the past religionists no matter what he or she says in public in the privacy of the voting booth the winner always will be the corrupt politician. No time to waste: we need to pray to all the saints and gods immediately!
Re: [Goanet] MAY ST FRANCIS XAVIER INTERCEDE
St Francis Xavier is in no position to intercede for anything but your RTI militancy certainly will. In fact if you spearhead a strong movement for this, you will have brought more rascals to book than St Francis Xavier converted. [Goanet] Don’t Blame The Rich Countries
The developed nations had cornered all the world’s vaccines, giving booster shots when poorer countries didn’t have stock to give their first shot. So serves you right, the thinking goes, globalization has caused the new problem to appear on your doorstep. Well, not really so says Canada’s National Post giving reasons that make interesting reading. [Goanet] MAY ST FRANCIS XAVIER INTERCEDE TO STRIKE AGAINST GOA’S CORRUPT POLITICIANS
As we prepare to celebrate on 3rd December the Feast of Goa’s Patron Saint, St Francis Xavier, let us all regardless of Creed, Caste or Community seek our great Saint’s Divine intervention to steer the now sinking Goa through these current troubled and turbulent times. We need to applaud the Rector of the Bom Jesus Basilica Rev Fr. Patricio Fernandes for having along with his dedicated team so very ably overseeing the well organized arrangements and logistics of the current Novenas. It’s time that politicians at places of Worship are treated like common citizens and given no VIP treatment as in the eyes of God we are all equal before a Temple, Mosque or Church. The Politicians should perhaps take a cue from the Parable of the Pharisee and the Publican and learn that humility and sincerity always pays and not arrogance of standing in the front row to boast of closeness to God with no sincere belief nor prayer or penance for all their misdeeds. They should heed the wise words of St Francis Xavier ‘Be great in little things’. All too often we see politicians dreaming up elaborate schemes, most ending up as personal scams and in failure wasting huge amounts of taxpayers money. On this Feast day may our poor, downtrodden and handicapped brothers and sisters be given a seat in the front rows while the Ministers and MLAs should be consigned somewhere way back so that they can reflect and seek mercy for their faults and follies. [Goanet] Dilip's Essays on your article on Chinese-Indians…
Dilip in your message M-ID: on the subject in issue 626 of Goanet, and Other readers who commented on and the article you wrote for *Scroll.* Prisoner of War Camps I too am angry about the treatment. In a different way I have experienced life in such an internment camp in California .The background is as follows: Soon after World War Two started Japanese who had been in the US for generations were put in camps. You gave details and just to repeat a few of them 1) The point being, again, that these are Americans like any other. Yet what forever marks them, and other Japanese-Americans, the US incarcerated over 100,000 people like them in prison camps. This happened because the US and Japan were enemies during World War II, and these Japanese-Americans were seen as potential traitors to the country they lived in. Ina was born in such a camp. Takei spent a year-and-a-half in another. 2) Inouye only side-stepped the internment by, ironically, enlisting in the US Army. He lost his right arm to a grenade and was later awarded the Medal of Honor, his country's highest military award. GRANDOLFO OWN EXPERIENCE in A PRISON OF WAR CAMP In the summer 1964, while I was a teaching Assistant at UCLA, I was doing field work with 8 other Ph.d students. I was the only coloured fellow. The others were whites. Our base camp was the prison camp. It used to accommodate several hundred persons of Japanese origin. Soon after the war, the camp had been converted into a BRACERO camp. Here Mexican labourers looked after the orange and avocado groves. One fine day when I was mapping in the orange grove a Mexican lady with a child began to talk to me. My Spanish was Zinch. Suddenly Professor Logan and a couple of students appeared . They asked me if I was OK. They spoke to the woman…She told them that her husband was on the run because he was wanted for a crime he did not commit. When we got back to LA my supervisor, Prof Thomas and his family had a visitor called Koko she was a Japanese who was going to school but was really unwell. My Message is that not all Americans are inhuman. Some politicians and we have many examples do not seem to have compassion. Finally: Rest and relaxation,I do not know what we have done without the show…Particulary..my uncle the Martian who would make guns bend or point in the wrong direction…there was no violence and Takei is an actor who made his name in the "Star Trek" films. Etc. The Americans, in 1988, eventually apologized for imprisoning innocent people including entire families, 25 years after my colleagues were boarding there in 1964. Will Chinese - Indians from Deoli Camp who wrote to Modi to apologise for what they did in 1962 ? I hope that the bureaucrats will eventually become human enough and apologize Grandolfo
Re: [Goanet] 38 died on Konkan Railway route in 10 months between Canacona and Pernem in Goa
Main causes: 1. Tracks laid in densely populated areas. 2. Indiscipline of resident and migrant populations consisting of: a) indiscriminate walking on tracks b) no respect for unmanned crossings. 3. Poor railway safety engineering design and practices when building infrastructure. 4. High Goa suicide rates with railways seen as a quick and painless end. This problem in Goa has no easy solution, it is here to stay. More problems can be expected as the influx of population (migration and tourism) increases. Roland.
