[Goanet] Remo should stand for elections!
Yes, Remo with his present position & status that he has earned and the follow up he has will make him a very successful leader. Why Remo only, why not Samir and so many others who are so devoted to this kind of cause who are so much hurt seeing the present status of Goa being robbed, cheated and looted by rascal Politicians, should not stand for elections? They will make a much better difference after pushing new blood, new energy, new policies which will convert present Goa entirely into a New Goa. There is not a single Politian in present crop who is worth their name or ideology, they should really be executed as Remo said, "..put all the politicians (Ruling) and Opposition together in a boat and sink them in the middle of the Arabian sea...". Rav-re matche, I opine the actual meaning of the "Poltodcho Munis" is "The man from the other side of the River" and not necessarily " from the other side of the Bridge". Dubav dista! [Goanet] British citizens buying property in Goa
Bravo Jane Gillian, Your mail is really some explanation to put the arguing heads to rest. I have been following many of the posts for quite some time, especially the arguments that Ex Goans in UK used to put forward, saying, they have bought houses, property in UK and therefore it is justifiable and should be allowed to purchase lands in Goa by British nationals. UK Goans were equating their purchase of Property in UK on par with land purchases of British National in Goa. So also some British were justifying their purchase of lands in India/Goa by arguing that so many Indians/Goans have bought the lands/houses and any other property in their country - UK, therefore it is right for them to purchase lands in India/Goa. But what these people were not saying is that the British that purchased the lands in India/Goa are infact British Nationals (and Not Indian Nationals) and also the so called Indians/Goans that purchased property in UK are also British Nationals (and no longer Indian Nationals). Once upon a time they have been Goans/Indians but now they given up their nationality and are become UK Subjects, therefore their argument doesn't hold good and same. Ex Indians/Goans who purchased the property/land/houses in UK have done so by their right of being UK Nationals where as the British who bought the lands in Goa are not Indian Nationals yet, therefore they are considered as Foreigners. And those Ex Indian/Goans who bought any property in UK were able to purchase it because they are thecitizens of that country and therefore they are no longer Foreigners to UK but to India yes. I hope I am clear. (2)The female friend, may have been of Indian origin, but now is a British citizen, so under what laws of the state of Goa, prevalent at the time of purchase, was this British woman allowed to buy property in Goa? (3)The period of "lease" prevalent at the time of purchase by British nationals, was for how many years? (4)What is meant by the words"Those Goans/Indians having foreign passports". I presumed, that once you become a citizen of a foreign country, you can no more be called Indian or Goan, you are henceforth known as Britisher or American, not Goan or Indian. (5)The words "unscruplous lawyers/builders who are taking people for a ride". Really? Britishers are now "DONKEYS" (6)The words "titles are not clearbuyers also are gulliable and are not verifying the papers". Really British Buyers are not verifying papers and are gullible??? Could someone on Goanet please explain, how the British ruled the world? __ This e-mail message and any attachments to it are for the sole use of the intended recipients and may contain confidential and privileged information. [Goanet] Migrant workers and outsiders
Excellent solution Freddy ..especially your paragraphs on Goans Migrating abroad and Solution . Your paragraph (with regard to Goans migrating abroad)was the kind on NRI was disturbing my mind for a very long time as to how to express, as every one were mixing the NRI status of Gulf Indians/Goans into status of others permanently migrated Indians/Goans at world wide. You have very beautifully explained the difference and the kind of life and rights we have in these Gulf Countries due to which under no circumstances we can call a sort of migration. And your 2 last paragraphs as a solution is also a perfect solution Goa needs under present circumstances. Elf-Mabrouk. Elvino.
[Goanet] Torches in the Fields at Night
Hi Freddy, Jim, You both seem to be missing the real point for banning the killing of Frogs. People now are educated they understand lot many things, natural and scientific reasons for the disaster in our present lives where in lot of sickness and diseases are reigning. Malaria takes millions and millions of people too. With education and researches they found out an easy way to save life at least of few millions if not in its entirety if they save the Frog that voraciously consumes larva of Mosquitoes, the very same mosquito that is responsible for millions of deaths through Malaria. And in Goa, this is necessary too for the same reasons. Why not go easy way to save the life. One loose nothing if one just ignore killing the Frog and let it live, because if it does live it can really save many many lives from the killer disease like Malaria. Any other reason for saving the Frog is a different issue. God bless you. What does our police and the Authorities do when the rich are involved in accidents and the poor are the victims ? Is any action taken against them ? Icons like Pataudi are pulled to court for killing an animal, what does our government do to protect the people who die of cold and hunger in Delhi and up north during winter? Killing tigers and other endangered species are dealt with severely but mass murderers Narender Modi are left free to prey on minorities, the saffron brigade can kill Christians at will in the name of conversion and get away with it too but thou shall not kill an animal or even a frog, are we what we claim to be ? I am basically not fussy about food, I just eat anything that is laid on my table, doesn't matter whether it's spicy, bitter, sour or sweet as long as I can digest it, no problems but given the choice, fish curry any time any where. With tourism flourishing in Goa and the number of hotels ever increasing food items are become very expensive and unaffordable for the common man. Fish cannot be regular item on our menu, red meat (beef, mutton & pork) are expensive as well and bad for people with cholesterol and uric acid, chicken too is mostly for occasions and eggs are bad for cholesterol , which do tend to disappear from counters when ever, bird flu makes it's round, that leaves us with vegetables which too are become expensive so what do we eat ? Has anyone noticed the steep rise in prices of fruits in Goa ? With the advent of rainy season nature had provided us with a cheaper substitute in frog and that too is banned, and with the ban enforced the prices of frogs too have skyrocketed so what does the common man eat ? Don't tell we'll have to go the Oriental way of eating worms and reptiles (who knows that too could be banned) . I appreciate what Clinton Vaz is doing to save wild life but we should all do a lot more for humans first because that God's and natures prized creation It should always be Man before Animal Freddy Agnelo Fernandes __ This e-mail message and any attachments to it are for the sole use of the intended recipients and may contain confidential and privileged information. Re: [Goanet] Goanet Digest, Vol 2, Issue 100 - Why no Muslims? or Jews? (or Hindus) in Goan Hockey
http://www.GOANET.org This month's Goanet operations sponsored by Mrs. Daisy Faleiro Hallo, Why one need a player by his/her religion? All you need is a player and so they are selected from the best ones from their groups/clubs, after that be him/her of any religion it doesn't matter. It is upto a person of any religion to play his skill well and get selected to any games, be it hockey, cricket, football or any that matters. Mog asundhi. Elvino Rodrigues Kuwait. (or Hindus) in Goan Hockey To: [EMAIL PROTECTED], goanet@goanet.org Cc: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed Jason, Well there are many Muslims who have donned India colors - the most prominent of whom is Aslam Sher Khan of Indian Airlines and Bhopal, He parlayed his success in Hockey (He played a key role in India winning the 1975 World Cup) to become an MLA and is a leading politician in Delhi. We have had other Muslim players mainly from the Bhopal, MP, UP area - including captain and left winger Zaffar Iqbal and left inner and ace dribbler Mohammed Shahid in the late 70s. Although we do not have Goan Hindus playing hockey for the nation (They waste too much time playing cricket I guess), our victorious IIT Kharagpur team captain in the late 70s was a Goan Hindu Prashant Sanzgiri (He played most of his hockey in Bombay though), Incidently that team also had a Calcutta-based Cochin Jew Benjamin Abraham. Jason you should keep in mind that one of India's leading cricketers of the 60s and 70s Dileep Sardessai is a Goan ! How many Goans have represented the Indian cricket team? As far as i know, Rahul Keni and Saurabh Bandekar have played for the India U-19s... Why no Christians?
