[Goanet] Calling all Goans!

2011-12-04 Thread Ralph Figueiredo
My Fellow GOA Members,

For the past three decades the Christmas Dance has always been an event
to remember, this year is on track to be a blast! For many of us it is
the one annual opportunity to catch up with our friends, and their
families. The GOA has always been a family organization that strives to
foster our culture and pass on our values to the next generation. With
the current tough economic situation, we want to be sure everyone has an
opportunity to participate in this long standing tradition, and to make
sure that finances are not a reason to stay away. In true Goan Christmas
Spirit, we are taking the following steps to encourage participation in
this year's Christmas Dance:

* All prices have been reset to the early bird special prices.

* Furthermore, Children's Tickets (4-12) have been discounted 50% to
$10.00.

* Families in need can contact me for specially discounted tickets.

* Note: For attendees who have already purchased their tickets, please
contact us if you are eligible for a refund due to these changes, you
may also chose to direct this money to help those families in need.

Thank you all for your continued support of this great organization. As
always, we look forward to a fun Christmas Celebration!

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas

See you soon,

Kyle Lobo
GOA President

[Goanet] Important Dance Update

2010-11-15 Thread Ralph Figueiredo
Hello everyone!

We have received an outstanding response to the dance. I guess going
online for payments helped! Below is the link for those of you that
haven't signed up yet.

http://goansofamerica.com/events.html

We have added a few more color sections, now that the initial ones have
filled up / sold out.

The Gray, Orange and Light Blue areas are still open and all 3 areas are
open to everyone. So, please pick your color and book your tickets ASAP.

FAQ's:

1) Will I receive a ticket in the mail?

A: No. You will receive an email from PayPal as soon as you pay. That is
your ticket. Please print it and bring it to the dance.

2) Do I need to reserve a specific table number?

A: No you don't. You reserve a color section. PayPal at this time
doesn't have the functionality to reserve specific tables. We will add
that functionality for future events when it becomes available.

3) Do I need to sign up for a PayPal account?

A: No you don't. Just use your credit card online and PayPal will
process that transaction without needing a PayPal account.

4) What happens if I pay by check?

A: If you pay by check, you'll be assigned to one of the White (Open
Seating) tables. We can only allocate the Color sections to those that
pay by credit card as PayPal does it for us.

We realize that this is a new process and a learning experience for
everyone. We apologize for any hurdles. We also appreciate all the
positive feedback from all of you that found this system extremely
convenient. We sold over 200 tickets in the first 2 days and we've sold
a 100 more since then. THANK YOU!!

Those of you who are yet to book your seats, please do so online. It's
convenient and fast and extremely safe. PayPal takes care of the online
security.

Thank you once again for your support.

We look forward to seeing all of you on the 18th!!

very strict rules about head count. And so, any checks received after
today (May 18, 2010) will not be included in the listing.

Please see the attachment for the names of people whose checks we have
received and who have a cabin confirmed.

If you are on the attached list, we would like you to please reply only
to colacom...@hotmail.com as soon as possible with the following
details:

1) Name of the person(s) attending
2) No of Adults
3) No of Children (under 18)
4) Contact telephone No.
5) e-mail address

Please provide the following information to colacom...@hotmail.com
mailto:colacom...@hotmail.com

We also wanted to inform you that because we have exceeded the minimum
number of people, the camp site requires that we pay an additional
amount for each person above the standard allocated number for the group
site. It is possible that depending on the total number of members, from

will let you know accordingly.

We will provide details regarding food and other events in the next few

THANK YOU for your responses and sending in your checks so quickly. We
appreciate the support and look forward to another fun GOA event.

Happy New Year Twenty-Ten

---

Hello everyone,

It is with immense pleasure that I introduce all of you to Audrey Dias.
Audrey has played a key role in organizing all the events last year and
she has agreed to take over running the Los Angeles GOA in 2010. Please
welcome her and provide her your continued support.

We are all excited about the prospect of a new team and a revived Goan
Association in Los Angeles. Please continue to provide us feedback, and
your support is what we survive on. All those members and friends that
help out at events, that donate prizes and those of you that get your
groups together to come and attend our events - we really owe all the
success to you. Keep up the good work. We'll put together good events
but only your attendance, with your positive, fun attitude can make
these events GREAT!

Thank You and it has been a true pleasure serving my Goan community all
these years.

All the very best for 2010!!

Ralph Figueiredo.

A message from Audrey Dias below:

Dear members of The Los Angeles Goan Overseas Association:

Thank you for attending the wonderful Christmas event of 2009. This
event would not have been possible if it was not for the participation
from all of you, our generous donors and our wonderful team of dedicated
organizers.

Events such as these bring us closer to our roots, help us continue
traditions and provide our children with an enriched heritage.

During 2009, we were able to achieve some of these objectives. As a
result of the picnic and camp out, members had an opportunity to come
together and taste the culinary skills of our fellow men. The year 2010
looks like a promising year as we have a whole host of events planned
such as an Easter picnic in spring, a camp out in summer and a Christmas
get-together in winter.

As always, these events require time and manpower. Our devoted team
could use additional help. We would love if you could join us in
organizing and making our events more exciting. Please continue to
provide us with ideas and suggestions. We appreciate your feedback.

We managed a profitable 2009 inspite of keeping ticket costs lower than
previous years, and our accounts are always available to any of our
members that would like a copy of them. Please email us a request and
we'll gladly share them with you.

Once again, thank you for your participation and support in 2009. We are
looking forward to a great year ahead.

Sincerely,

Audrey Dias.
