[Goanet] Womyn at Work: Curated Collaboration between artists in India, Nepal and Bangladesh
Womyn at Work: Collaborative Curatorial Web Series with three artists across three countries 'womyn at work’ is a collaborative curatorial web series by Tracing A City(India), AIB/ Art Initiative (Dhaka, Bangladesh), LIVE HIVE (Goa, India), and Photopeer ( Kolkata, India). ‘womyn at work’ is going to be on-air in a durational action research model conceptualized as a trans-disciplinary interactive format - where we principally wish to explore the non-narrative visual agents with a subversive curatorial interest. It is a 3-month long episodic exchange within the neo-web-series model. It will start from August’20 onwards till October’20. Every episode will be composed of 3 different practitioners from different parts of the world in collaboration with our in-house curatorial moderators. There will be a mundane non-linear connection between 3 episodes if there is any direct resemblance that will be absolutely coincidental and part of new normal hyper-connection. ‘womyn at work’ is also distributed into 4 critical segments - Introduction, Exploration, Intervention, Negotiations. Every individual segment will be moderated by our in-house curator with mutual inclusiveness. For episode 1, we are going to collaborate with Keepa Maskey (Nepal) - Sumana Akter (Bangladesh) - Preeti Singh (India). The entire program will be moderated by Sadya Mizan(Bangladesh) - Mitali Nath(India) - Imran Ahmed(India) - Kaur Chimuk(India). Episode 1: Date: 11/08.20-20.08.20 for more details please visit woatwo.weebly.com #woatwo #AIB #LIVEHIVE #Photopeer #TAC* There is a ticketed event on 19/8/2020, the link of which will be sent soon. [Goanet] Global Goans Helping Goa
Greetings!! There is a new group on Facebook called Global Goans Helping Goa www.facebook.com/groups/globalgoanshelpinggoa It is for Goans who are living outside Goa that are concerned about how Goa is being destroyed by corrupt and manipulative people in so many ways and they want to help those of us living in Goa who are trying to make Goa a clean, healthy, eco-friendly, traditional, artistic, cultural, self-sufficient, local economy that is ethically governed. In this group we will be asking Goans across the Globe for help through references, contacts, resources, ideas & technology sharing, people support groups, project funding, event funding, funding for legal proceedings against wrongdoers in Goa and also funding for social services in the area of health, food, farming & environment, education and arts & culture in Goa. We who live in Goa are fighting so many corrupt forces here that are dominating and destroying Goa and trying to make it just another concrete jungle where corruption, drugs, prostitution, land grabbing, environmental destruction and other evils flourish. We will not allow this to happen anymore, so we are doing our best and ask the help of Goans across the world to save what is left of Goa. We strive to make Goa a beautiful, yet modern and orderly place, hopefully a place that Goans overseas may like to return to one fine day. The posts in this group will be authentic calls for help only from people living in Goa and they will be things that all who live outside Goa can help with. We won’t bother you with anything else. All posts will be checked for authenticity before approval by our Group Admins & Moderators who are people who have a clean track record and have already been helping Goa in many ways for at least a decade, so you know they have credibility and do the right work. This will not be a Goa News Flash or Goa Politics group. There are 100 other groups for them already. Our last event in Goa is here www.thenewearthsummit.com/videos please have a look at it. It is India’s 1st Integrative Summit on Solutions to our Problems in Health, Food, Farming & Environment. We not only do events that impact Goa, but also create benchmarks for the nation and the world. Our previous benchmark events were the Continued Medico-Spiritual Education Conferences in 2014 & 2015 in Goa www.cmsegoa.wordpress.com and 2017 in Pune. This group has high caliber individuals who are abreast with world events and views and have deep knowledge that they are using now to facilitate the Goa Pandemic Recovery Plan Please read through our page here www.thenewearthsummit.com/making-new-earth you will learn a lot for your own safety and the future of your family and friends. So kindly join this group through this link www.facebook.com/groups/globalgoanshelpinggoa and be part of our People Helping People movement for Goa. Re: [Goanet] [Goanet-News] Joel, we'll all miss you!
The most down-to-earth person I have ever met. A prolific chronicler, almost as much as Rico. He will be loved, by all Goans. On Wed, Aug 5, 2015 at 9:03 AM, Frederick FN Noronha * फ्रेड्रिक नोरोन्या * فريدريك نورونيا fredericknoron...@gmail.com wrote: Sorry to be the harbinger of such bad news this early in the morning... our long-time friend and a very widely known figure in cyberspace, journalist Joel D'Souza (69) passed away after a very brief illness at the District Hospital, Mapusa. Joel was a journalist since the 1960s almost, worked for a range of mastheads, and had so many interesting stories to narrate... We were good friends and worked a lot together. He was extremely productive. While also very low-profile and always excessively modest about his work, he kept reporting, photographing, videographing, and editing on so many Goa-related issues. To get him to talk about his experiences, you needed to bait him with names of others! Joel had a lot of unfinished work on hand... one is a (Romi Konkani-English) dictionary he co-authored with Isidore Dantas, awaiting publishing. Joel successfully made a shift-over to the online media, early on, soon after it reached Goa in the 1990s. He had a long stint with GoaCom and Goanet, send out news updates for perhaps a decade... Just a few months back, we were sitting in a very noisy restaurant in Porvorim, and I was coaxing him to write about his experiences in journalism for a forthcoming book. As usual, he was reticent, almost believing that he had nothing to talk about. But as he kept telling me one fascinating story after another, I just could not resist and used the video cam for note-taking. The resultant interviews are below... (What was most surprising was when he told me his name wasn't actually Joel... and brushed aside my curiosity. Just this morning, his good friend Alexyz told me it was... Joseph!) Re: [Goanet] Goanet Digest, Vol 9, Issue 620
Panchayat ground, on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Sporting Goa led 3-0 at the interval. Sporting Goa Coach Oscar Bruzon made two changes to the starting line up from the previous game. Creson Antao came into the defence in place of Keenan Almeida, while local boy Velito Cruz was drafted into the midfield to fill the boots of Rowllin Borges. Sporting Goa surged ahead inside the first fifteen minutes after Anthony Wolfe was sent crashing to the ground inside the box. Captain Boima Karpeh stepped up to place home the resulting penalty for the Flaming Oranje. Sporting Goa started to dominate proceedings and it was not too long before they doubled their lead when Cajetan Fernandes tapped in a rebound after Anthony Wolfe?s stinging drive was parried by the Air India goalkeeper. Just before the lemon break, Joseph Clemente produced a moment of magic as he struck an absolute gem of a shot from 30 yards which looped in over the goalkeeper?s head and sent the surprised crowd into raptures. Post resumption, Sporting Goa continued where they left off by switching the attack from flank to flank. Sporting Goa?s Anthony Wolfe who was looking menacing all game, sprung up to slot in the fourth to put the Goan outfit in a commanding position. In the closing stages, Air India came up with a deserving goal through substitute Neil Gaikwad, but it proved nothing more than a consolation for his side. [Goanet] Brahma Kamal Goa: Providing Urban Amenities in Rural Areas
Hi, It's been two months that we've been running Brahma Kamal Accessories in Goa, and we have got a great response locally, considering that it's the lean season now. Brahma Kamal is a place where an experience of interdependence is explored. Social media is taught, and social media explored, in the real world. So we've focussed on : 1. Computer Accessories such as Internet Security Packages (Kaspersky, Quickheal, Mcafee etc. at local prices), cables such as VGA connectors and iPhone 5 cables. 2. Business Centre providing typing, biodatas, menu design as well as package design. 3. Training around internet usage and spoken English. 4. Services towards creation of social media and websites for local businesses. Location : Brahma Kamal, Hilmin Apartments, Naikavaddo, next to the Village Panchayat of Calangute, in line and perpendicular to Sameer Electricals. -- Regards, Werner Egipsy Souza O-0832 2277369
Re: [Goanet] Movie - Goa is not India
, they are not like enforced by a rule, Savia admits. ** ** Initially Savia wanted to major in English literature thinking that mastery over English would make her a writer but as her education progressed towards graduation she did opt for English lit but soon realized much to her chagrin that teaching of English literature only encouraged a very Anglo-Saxon way of seeing and looking and even writing even in the early 80s. This discouraged her for her real reason to be a writer was to discover her Indian roots. Goa had been liberated and everything about India seemed so new at that time.So Savia opted for Ancient Indian Culture fired by the ideas of Romila Thapar and other Marxist historians of the 80s. But outside of a few great universities the teaching of the past was very brahmanized and sanskritized, she soon discovered. So she tumbled into a different world altogether. ** ** In Abha Nama Savia has tried to recreate through the experiences of an ordinary teacher , the processes of education in a large number of institutions in **India**. It is true that when the British left **India**, the power was inherited by the class elites of **India** and to a large extent they became the power barons wielding authority and ?ruling.? This simple story talks about such a minority institution and the book is important because it talks about the inner world of teachers. So little is written about it in fiction. Teaching is always treated as a soft career option and there is a great deal of feminization in the work place. This book probes such situations ** ** On account of the illustrations it is easy to read and would help college students understand the hierarchies in teaching and the world that they inhabit. The illustrations are not like those in the graphic novel which lead on to the story through blurbs. But in this book if a chapter is talking about a principal then the chapter has illustrations that throw light on his character. So in a way they draw you inward into the book. ** -- Thanks Regards Miriam Koshy Gallery Gitanjali E-212,31st January Road, Fontainhas,Panjim, Goa-403001 India www.gallerygitanjali.com 00919823572035 End of Goanet Digest, Vol 8, Issue 86 * -- Regards, Werner Egipsy Souza +919833295454
Re: [Goanet] Events in Goa
I have been a guest first at Goafest and now currently photographer for India Bike Week. I really see the lack of Goan culture in these events, despite the fact that this is exactly what people come here to see. I met a French lady in Kerala who says Goa is superficial, and I realise that's because we don't show our true culture enough, which the Portuguese have acknowledged as truly unique.
