[Goanet] A DOUBLE FACED MANOHAR PARRIKAR
It was amusing to read the statement by Goa’s now very soiled Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on the need to develop quality leaders with good character. Manohar Parrikar himself has proved to be a very bad role model after having thrown to the winds even all basic values and principles only to cling on to the Chief Minister’s Chair. After having very high-handedly breached every law possible, Manohar Parrikar has lost all moral authority to be preaching on probity in Public life. After his three months in New York, the power hungry and egoistic Manohar Parrikar has now not returned because of his love for Goa but only to safeguard his Chair which was on the brink of being pulled under his feet. Over the years the Power intoxicated Manohar Parrikar has allowed Goa to plummet while he has minted a fortune for his family to merrily feast on for generations. Less said the better on how his partners in Crime like Siddharth Kunkolienkar have risen from Rags to Riches raking the moolah galore and now even not sparing that foul Panaji Smart City Mission to further line up their already overflowing pockets. Two decades ago, like many others, I too had held Manohar Parrikar in great esteem while even worked alongside him and the BJP, believing that he was a ray of hope for Goa. But I had to part company after I was faced with clinching evidence that Manohar Parrikar was very corrupt, communal, casteist and ever so vindictive. Many had been under a very fake impression that Manohar Parrikar is Smart. Yes, a Smart crook he has indeed been. It is time for the now rancid Manohar Parrikar to pack up so that Goa which today has sadly become a gambling, prostitution, narcotics and crime destination may finally see some much needed Acche din. Does Manohar Parrikar have to be reminded of those words of Abraham Lincoln ‘You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time”. [Goanet] THE DOUBLE FACED MANOHAR PARRIKAR
At the ensuing by election to the Panaji Assembly constituency there will definitely be an occasion or two for all the candidates to debate on a common platform and face the queries of the voters. Regardless of who Manohar Parrikar props up as his BJP candidate, he should himself stand up on that public platform as he has a lot to answer on all his U turns and the chaos he has left Goa in. At the last session of the Goa Legislative Assembly Manohar Parrikar had vowed that everything he has done in public life was above board and that he was ready for an open debate with anyone and anywhere on the allegations of corruption and nepotism against him. At two public functions one in Margao and later at Panaji I had dared Manohar Parrikar to a face off on his acts of omission and commission while even allowing him to choose the date and venue. The Chief Minister did not respond for he knew he would have been publicly confronted with facts and figures backed by documentary evidence on how deeply his hands stood soiled with endless acts of blatant corruption and nepotism committed over the last two and half years. While hoodwinking the people of Goa with his so called mantra of Zero tolerance to Corruption, Manohar Parrikar chose to keep Goans distracted by finding fault with all including NGOs, activists, the media and even the Judiciary instead of trying to put his own house in order. He frantically tried to keep the lid on the misdeeds of his government by intentionally not appointing a Lokayukta and also sabotaging the functioning of the State Information Commission. Manohar Parrikar has been a very egoistic, self centered and revengeful politician. We all know how over the years he has systematically sidelined the Bahujan Samaj face of the BJP Shripad Naik. Now he has back stabbed his college friend of decades Francis D’Souza who he foxily had made a mere ornamental Deputy Chief Minister. The Bhai of Goa has now chosen to be the Bhaiya of Uttar Pradesh after having fooled Goans with all that glossy talk on Special Status for Goa. Narendra Modi would have to take a call whether someone who has miserably failed as Chief Minister and is so tainted could ever do justice as India’s Defence Minister. If we could not trust Manohar Parrikar to even give the authorities his correct residential address how can we entrust him the country’s defence. Someone who has lied on oath and filed a false affidavit despite being the Chief Minister is something very alarming. Many years ago I had a lot of faith and trust in Manohar Parrikar. Over the years seeing his acts and deeds all that trust has just waned away. Today I can very responsibly say that Manohar Parrikar has been the most untrustworthy and devious politician I have encountered over the last 40 years in public life, who has merely used people for his own benefit and to espouse his hidden agenda. I know that Manohar Parrikar’s sycophants and stooges may not like what I have expressed. The truth cannot be masked for too long. Have always believed in speaking fearlessly and this I shall do till my very end regardless of the price that may have to be paid. [Goanet] A DOUBLE FACED MANOHAR PARRIKAR
While as the Leader of Opposition Manohar Parrikar wanted and exercised all his democratic rights. He squatted on the highways blocking the traffic and had even threatened to gate crash to drive away the Casinos parked in the River Mandovi. Now that he is in power, he cannot see his own earlier acts as being holy. Now he wants every Goan to be at his best behavior and silently watch the misdeeds of his government. This however, will not just happen regardless of the threats and intimidation that Manohar Parrikar may rant. He may be concerned only about his Chief Minister’s chair but we need to care for Goa. The battle has to go on regardless of the price we may have to pay. Rattled that various acts of corruption and nepotism by his government have been exposed through the Right to Information Act, Manohar Parrikar has been stifling the transparency law after having conveniently kept Goa without a Lokayukta so that the corrupt can have a field day. Manohar Parrikar has shown scant respect for the Judiciary and will do everything possible to muzzle and manipulate the press. During his earlier stint as Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Parrikar had on 24th September 2003 issued a legal notice threatening editors of all newspapers. So a decade down the road nothing has changed. Does the dog’s tail ever straighten?. After having conveniently used most NGO’s, activists and habitual litigants to maneuver his way to power, now Manohar Parrikar finds they are a hurdle as misdeeds of his government are coming under the scanner. If there is any extortion or blackmailing in the name of activism there are already enough laws in place to take care of the malaise which Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar can invoke by first putting his own house in order and clear the rot that is emanating from the Advocate General’s office where through back room deals the advocates are appearing for and against the government. Just visit the High Court for a day and public will witness the Advocate General leading his brigade of juniors and so-called former juniors standing for or against each other and strangely, without even sufficient independent practice, appearing for the big fish, in heavy stake-matters. Extortion or blackmail if any needs to be probed? To come to power Manohar Parrikar made a lot of fake promises. On all his U turns less said the better. Not a paisa of that 35,000 crore illegal mining scam has or will ever be recovered while all that Manohar Parrikar’s loose talk is to keep the Goans entertained. To secure his chair he made promises even to his MLAs and party workers of posts and positions which he knew he would not be able to deliver. He had promised Zero tolerance to corruption but the rampant corruption which has ebbed to the peak is there for all to see. The manner in which the erratic and eccentric Manohar Parrikar who is fast losing his marbles is functioning, he may well go down in the history books as the worst ever Chief Minister that Goa has seen. Activist priest Fr. Eremito Rebello had not long ago said “the sooner Parrikar goes, the better for Goa”. The writing on the wall is very clear. Is your time up, Mr. CM? Why not for the sake of Goa cook up a way to get out and go to the Centre? Re: [Goanet] A DOUBLE FACED MANOHAR PARRIKAR
Dear Aires, It is appreciated that you are now taking on Manohar Parrikar. But let me remind you that you actively supported the BJP in the 2007 Goa Legislative Elections by vocalizing the greatness of Manohar Parrikar and his BJP team to the consternation of the rest of us whose fight you blunted with your mission to get Manohar Parrikar elected. What happened down the line, you only know and we shall not be bothered to know the details. It is apparent that you are now fighting an old friend turned foe. Friends turn foes and foes turn friends. There is surely a formula for this? Some day you must give us a hint on how to accomplish this and we shall be eternally grateful to you. However, your present fight is with a bull that has grown sharp horns whereas your pate is bald as ever. GSRP has just one suggestion for you in terms of an advice. GROW HORNS. 2017 is looming on the horizon. Horns must strike horns in the bull fighting ring.. And it shall be our 'plaiser' to watch the bull-fight and be entertained. If it is not possible to grow the fighting horns on your balded pate, then MOIDEKARS are always around to help you there. Did they not grow their Moira Church Steeple so high that it has remained the envy of Churches on the landscape of Goa? Dear Aires, A suggestion: Just perhaps, it would serve Goans minds, inclinations and tendencies well for Aires to lay out your reasoning briefly--behind seeing (as many did) the current CM as formerly a worthy friend/ or Sot munis, and for that matter an aesthetic object of desire (to include respect) and the better among Goan intellects.** Was Parrikar ever truly a dadd'lo, or mensch. +++ Venantius J Pinto ** Please all: No need to prattle the IIT 'bit.' We all come from somewhere including all from our mothers wombs. Translate that in Marathi and Konkani.
